2 Chronicles

1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.

2He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, according to all that his father Uzziah had done. However he didn’t enter into the LORD’s temple. The people still acted corruptly.

3He built the upper gate of the LORD’s house, and he built much on the wall of Ophel.

4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built fortresses and towers.

5He also fought with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talentsof silver, ten thousand corsof wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley.The children of Ammon also gave that much to him in the second year, and in the third.

6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.

7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

1Giô-tham lên ngôi vua khi được hai mươi lăm tuổi, và trị vì mười sáu năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua tên là Giơ-ru-sa, con gái ông Xa-đốc.

2Vua đã làm điều ngay chính trước mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, đúng như vua cha là Út-di-gia-hu đã làm ; chỉ có điều là vua không vào Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA, còn dân thì cứ ra hư hỏng.

3Chính vua đã xây Cửa Trên của Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, và đã xây nhiều công trình ở tường thành Ô-phen.

4Vua cũng xây những thành ở Núi Giu-đa, các pháo đài nhỏ và các tháp canh ở miền rừng rậm.

5Chính vua giao chiến với vua của con cái Am-mon và đã chiến thắng. Năm ấy, con cái Am-mon phải triều cống vua ba ngàn ký bạc, hai trăm ngàn thùng lúa mì và hai trăm ngàn thùng lúa mạch. Đó là những thứ con cái Am-mon phải mang tới cho vua, năm thứ hai và năm thứ ba cũng vậy.

6Vua Giô-tham được vững mạnh vì vua bước theo đường ngay nẻo chính trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của vua.

7Các truyện còn lại của vua Giô-tham, tất cả các trận chiến và những công cuộc vua đã thực hiện đều được ghi chép trong sách Các Vua Ít-ra-en và Giu-đa.

8Vua Giô-tham được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi lên ngôi và trị vì mười sáu năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.

9Vua Giô-tham đã an nghỉ với tổ tiên và được chôn cất trong Thành vua Đa-vít. Con vua là A-khát lên ngôi kế vị.
