Thảo Luận về Ly Dị và Hôn Nhân

1Giảng dạy xong, Chúa Giê-xu lìa xứ Ga-li-lê, đến miền đông sông Giô-đan, xứ Giu-đê.

2Một đoàn dân đông đi theo Chúa. Ngài chữa cho những người bệnh được lành.

3Các thầy Pha-ri-si đến chất vấn để gài bẫy Chúa: “Thầy nghĩ sao? Bất luận vì lý do nào, người chồng cũng được phép ly dị vợ mình không?”

4Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Các ông không đọc Thánh Kinh sao? Thánh Kinh chép rằng từ ban đầu ‘Đức Chúa Trời tạo nên người nam, người nữ.’

5Và: ‘Người nam phải lìa cha mẹ để kết hợp với vợ mình, hai người thành một.’

6Vợ chồng không phải là hai nữa, nhưng chỉ là một. Vậy chẳng ai có thể phân ly những người Đức Chúa Trời đã phối hợp.”

7Họ lại hỏi: “Nếu thế, tại sao Môi-se dạy người chồng khi muốn ly dị, phải trao cho vợ chứng thư ly dị và cho nàng đi?”

8Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Môi-se cho phép ly dị vì lòng dạ các ông cứng cỏi, nhưng đó không phải ý định của Đức Chúa Trời từ ban đầu.

9Ta quả quyết điều này, người nào ly dị vợ, rồi cưới vợ khác là phạm tội ngoại tình—trừ trường hợp ly dị vì vợ gian dâm.”

10Các môn đệ của Chúa Giê-xu thưa: “Nếu thế, thà đừng cưới vợ còn hơn!”

11Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Không phải mọi người đều có thể sống độc thân, chỉ những người được Đức Chúa Trời giúp đỡ mà thôi.

12Có người không có khả năng sinh sản từ lúc lọt lòng mẹ; có người mất khả năng ấy vì tay người ta; cũng có người từ khước hôn nhân vì Nước Trời. Người nào có đủ sức, cứ theo đó mà sống.”

Chúa Giê-xu Ban Phước cho Trẻ Con

13Người ta đem trẻ con đến gần Chúa Giê-xu để Ngài đặt tay cầu nguyện. Các môn đệ quở trách họ, không cho quấy rầy Chúa.

14Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Cứ để trẻ con đến gần Ta, đừng ngăn cản, vì Nước Trời thuộc về những người giống các em ấy.”

15Trước khi đi nơi khác, Chúa đặt tay lên đầu ban phước cho các em.

Người Giàu

16Một thanh niên đến hỏi Chúa: “Thưa Thầy, tôi phải làm điều thiện gì để được sống vĩnh cửu?”

17Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Tại sao anh hỏi Ta về điều thiện? Chỉ có một Đấng Thánh Thiện là Đức Chúa Trời. Muốn hưởng sự sống vĩnh cửu, anh phải vâng giữ các điều răn.”

18Anh hỏi tiếp: “Thưa, những điều nào?” Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ngươi không được giết người. Ngươi không được ngoại tình. Ngươi không được trộm cắp. Ngươi không được làm chứng dối.

19Phải hiếu kính cha mẹ. Yêu người lân cận như chính mình.”

20Anh tự hào: “Tôi đã vâng giữ những điều ấy. Vậy tôi còn thiếu gì nữa?”

21Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Muốn được hoàn toàn, anh về bán hết tài sản lấy tiền phân phát cho người nghèo để chứa của cải trên trời, rồi theo Ta.”

22Nghe Chúa dạy, người thanh niên buồn rầu bỏ đi, vì anh rất giàu có.

23Chúa Giê-xu phán với các môn đệ: “Người giàu vào Nước Trời thật khó!

24Ta cho các con biết, lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu vào Nước của Đức Chúa Trời!”

25Nghe Chúa dạy, các môn đệ đều kinh ngạc: “Vậy thì ai được cứu?”

26Chúa Giê-xu nhìn các môn đệ: “Đối với loài người, việc ấy không ai làm được. Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời làm mọi việc được cả!”

27Phi-e-rơ thưa: “Chúng con đã bỏ tất cả để theo Thầy, vậy chúng con sẽ được gì?”

28Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ta quả quyết với các con: Đến lúc Con Người ngồi trên ngai vinh quang, các con là môn đệ Ta cũng sẽ ngồi trên mười hai ngai để xét xử mười hai đại tộc Ít-ra-ên.

29Người nào bỏ nhà cửa, anh chị em, cha mẹ, vợ con và tài sản mình để theo Ta, sẽ nhận lại gấp trăm lần, và sẽ hưởng sự sống vĩnh cửu.

30Tuy nhiên, nhiều người đang dẫn đầu sẽ lui lại hàng cuối, và nhiều người đang ở hàng cuối sẽ vượt lên hàng đầu!”

1And it came to pass when Jesus had ended these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea, beyond Jordan.

2And great multitudes followed him: and he healed them there.

3And there came to him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

4Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said:

5For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh.

6Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.

7They say to him: Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorce, and to put away?

8He saith to them: Because Moses by reason of the hardness of your heart permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

9And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.

10His disciples say unto him: If the case of a man with his wife be so, it is not expedient to marry.

11Who said to them: All men take not this word, but they to whom it is given.

12For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it.

13Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them.

14But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.

15And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence.

16And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting?

17Who said to him: Why asketh thou me concerning good? One is good, God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18He said to him: Which? And Jesus said: Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness.

19Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

20The young man saith to him: All these I have kept from my youth, what is yet wanting to me?

21Jesus saith to him: If thou wilt be perfect, go sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come follow me.

22And when the young man had heard this word, he went away sad: for he had great possessions.

23Then Jesus said to his disciples: Amen, I say to you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

25And when they had heard this, the disciples wondered very much, saying: Who then can be saved?

26And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.

27Then Peter answering, said to him: Behold we have left all things, and have followed thee: what therefore shall we have?

28And Jesus said to them: Amen, I say to you, that you, who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.

30And many that are first, shall be last: and the last shall be first.
