Chúa Giê-xu Dạy về Sự Trong Sạch Bên Trong

1Các thầy dạy luật và Pha-ri-si từ Giê-ru-sa-lem đến chất vấn Chúa Giê-xu:

2“Sao môn đệ Thầy không tuân theo tục lệ của người xưa truyền lại? Họ không rửa tay trước khi ăn!”

3Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Thế sao tục lệ của các ông vi phạm mệnh lệnh của Đức Chúa Trời?

4Đức Chúa Trời dạy: ‘Phải hiếu kính cha mẹ,’và ‘Ai nguyền rủa cha mẹ phải bị xử tử.’

5Nhưng các ông cho là đúng khi con cái nói với cha mẹ rằng: ‘Con không thể giúp cha mẹ. Vì con đã lấy tiền phụng dưỡng cha mẹ dâng lên Đức Chúa Trời.’

6Như vậy, vì truyền thống của mình mà các ông đã hủy bỏ lời của Đức Chúa Trời.

7Hạng đạo đức giả! Tiên tri Y-sai đã nói về các ông thật đúng:

8‘Miệng dân này nói lời tôn kính Ta,nhưng lòng họ cách xa Ta.

9Việc họ thờ phượng Ta thật vô ích,thay vì vâng giữ mệnh lệnh Ta, họ đem dạy luật lệ do họ đặt ra.’”

10Chúa Giê-xu gọi đoàn dân đến dạy bảo: “Anh chị em hãy lắng nghe và cố hiểu lời này:

11Vật đưa vào miệng không làm con người dơ bẩn; nhưng điều gì ra từ miệng mới làm ô uế con người.”

12Các môn đệ thưa: “Lời Thầy vừa nói làm mất lòng phái Pha-ri-si.”

13Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Cây nào Cha Ta không trồng sẽ bị nhổ đi.

14Đừng tiếc làm gì! Họ đã mù quáng, lại ra lãnh đạo đám người mù, nên chỉ đưa nhau xuống hố thẳm.”

15Phi-e-rơ xin Chúa Giê-xu giải nghĩa câu: “Vật vào miệng không làm dơ bẩn con người …”

16Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Con cũng không hiểu nữa sao?

17Con không biết thức ăn vào miệng, chỉ qua dạ dày, rồi ra khỏi thân thể sao?

18Còn lời nói độc ác phát ra từ lòng mới thật sự làm dơ bẩn con người.

19Vì từ lòng dạ con người sinh ra tư tưởng ác, như giết người, ngoại tình, gian dâm, trộm cắp, dối trá, và phỉ báng.

20Những thứ ấy mới làm dơ dáy con người. Trái lại, không làm lễ rửa tay trước bữa ăn chẳng làm hoen ố tâm hồn con người đâu.”

Đức Tin của Một Phụ Nữ Dân Ngoại

21Chúa Giê-xu rời xứ Ga-li-lê đến phía bắc của miền Ty-rơ và Si-đôn.

22Một phụ nữ Ca-na-an ở vùng đó đến kêu xin: “Lạy Chúa, Con Vua Đa-vít, xin thương xót tôi, vì con gái tôi bị quỷ ám! Quỷ hành hạ nó kinh khiếp lắm!”

23Chúa Giê-xu không đáp một lời. Các môn đệ thưa: “Xin Thầy bảo bà ấy đi chỗ khác, vì bà kêu la ồn ào quá.”

24Chúa Giê-xu quay lại bảo bà: “Ta được sai đến đây để cứu giúp đàn chiên lạc của Đức Chúa Trời—là nhà Ít-ra-ên.”

25Nhưng bà đến gần Chúa, quỳ lạy cầu khẩn: “Xin Chúa cứu giúp tôi!”

26Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Đâu có thể lấy bánh của con cái đem ném cho chó ăn!”

27Bà thưa: “Vâng, đúng thế! Nhưng chó chỉ ăn bánh vụn trên bàn chủ rơi xuống!”

28Chúa Giê-xu nói với bà: “Bà là người có đức tin lớn. Lời cầu xin của bà đã được chấp thuận.” Ngay lúc đó, con gái bà được lành.

Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Lành Nhiều Người

29Chúa Giê-xu đi dọc theo bờ biển Ga-li-lê, lên ngồi trên ngọn đồi.

30Một đoàn dân đông mang theo người què, người khiếm thị, người câm, người tàn tật, và các bệnh khác đem đặt trước Chúa Giê-xu. Chúa chữa lành tất cả.

31Thật là một cảnh tượng lạ lùng: Người câm nói, người què đi, người khiếm thị thấy rõ, người bệnh tật được chữa lành. Ai nấy đều ngạc nhiên sững sờ, rồi ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.

Chúa Đãi Ăn cho Bốn Nghìn Người

32Chúa Giê-xu gọi các môn đệ đến gần bảo: “Ta thương đoàn dân này. Họ ở đây với Ta đã ba ngày, thức ăn đã hết. Ta không muốn để họ nhịn đói ra về, vì có thể bị ngất xỉu giữa đường.”

33Các môn đệ thưa: “Giữa chỗ hoang vắng, chúng ta tìm bánh đâu cho đủ để đãi đoàn dân đông đảo này?”

34Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Các con có bao nhiêu bánh?” Họ đáp: “Thưa, còn bảy ổ bánh và mấy con cá nhỏ.”

35Chúa bảo dân chúng ngồi xuống đất.

36Ngài cầm bảy ổ bánh và mấy con cá, tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời, rồi bẻ ra trao cho môn đệ đem phân phát cho đoàn dân.

37Sau khi tất cả đều ăn no, người ta lượm thức ăn thừa, đựng đầy bảy giỏ.

38Số người ăn bánh được 4.000, chưa kể phụ nữ, thiếu nhi.

39Chúa Giê-xu cho dân chúng ra về, còn Ngài xuống thuyền đến vùng Ma-ga-đan.

1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3But he answered and said unto them,Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them,Hear, and understand:

11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13But he answered and said,Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16And Jesus said,Are ye also yet without understanding?

17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

21¶ Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24But he answered and said,I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26But he answered and said,It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28Then Jesus answered and said unto her,O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

31Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32¶ Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said,I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34And Jesus saith unto them,How many loaves have ye?And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

39And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
