John

1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4Jesus saith unto her,Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7Jesus saith unto them,Fill the waterpots with water.And they filled them up to the brim.

8And he saith unto them,Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.And they bare it.

9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

12¶ After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

13¶ And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

14And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

15And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;

16And said unto them that sold doves,Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

17And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

18¶ Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

19Jesus answered and said unto them,Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21But he spake of the temple of his body.

22When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

23¶ Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

24But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

25And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Tiệc Cưới tại Ca-na

1Hai ngày sau, mẹ Chúa Giê-xu đi dự tiệc cưới tại làng Ca-na, xứ Ga-li-lê.

2Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ cũng được mời dự tiệc.

3Khi rượu nho đã hết, mẹ Chúa Giê-xu nói với Ngài: “Họ đã hết rượu rồi.”

4Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Thưa mẹ, việc ấy có liên hệ gì đến chúng ta? Thời điểm của con chưa đến.”

5Nhưng mẹ Chúa bảo những đầy tớ: “Hãy làm theo những gì Ngài bảo.”

6Trong nhà có sáu cái chum bằng đá đựng nước dùng để tẩy trần theo phong tục Do Thái. Mỗi chum chứa 75 đến 113 lít.

7Chúa Giê-xu phán với những đầy tớ: “Hãy múc nước đổ đầy các chum đó.” Khi các chum đã đầy nước,

8Chúa phán: “Bây giờ các anh múc ra, đem cho ông chủ tiệc.” Vậy những đầy tớ làm y theo lời Chúa phán dặn.

9Chủ tiệc nếm nước đã hóa thành rượu nho, không biết rượu này lấy từ đâu (dù các đầy tớ đều biết rõ), nên gọi chú rể mà khen:

10“Ai cũng đãi rượu ngon trước, đến khi tân khách uống say mới dọn rượu thường. Anh thật khác người, giữ rượu ngon đến giờ này mới đem ra!”

11Việc xảy ra tại làng Ca-na, xứ Ga-li-lê, là phép lạ đầu tiên của Chúa Giê-xu biểu lộ vinh quang của Ngài. Các môn đệ đều tin Ngài.

12Sau tiệc cưới, Chúa cùng với mẹ, các em trai, và các môn đệ trở về thành Ca-bê-na-um, và ở lại đó vài ngày.

Chúa Giê-xu Dọn Sạch Đền Thờ

13Gần đến lễ Vượt Qua của người Do Thái, Chúa Giê-xu lên Giê-ru-sa-lem.

14Thấy nhiều người bày bán bò, chiên, bồ câu, và đổi bạc ngay trong Đền Thờ.

15Chúa Giê-xu bện dây làm roi đuổi hết bọn ấy khỏi Đền Thờ. Chúa cũng xua đuổi chiên, bò, vãi tiền, và lật đổ bàn của bọn đổi bạc.

16Chúa phán bọn bán bồ câu: “Dẹp hết đi! Đừng biến nhà Cha Ta thành chợ buôn bán!”

17Các môn đệ sực nhớ lời Thánh Kinh: “Lòng nhiệt thành về nhà Chúa nung nấu tôi.”

18Những người lãnh đạo Do Thái hỏi: “Thầy làm phép lạ gì để chứng tỏ Thầy có thẩm quyền dẹp sạch Đền Thờ?”

19Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Cứ phá Đền Thờ này đi, trong ba ngày Ta sẽ xây lại.”

20Họ chế nhạo: “Người ta xây Đền Thờ mất bốn mươi sáu năm, còn Thầy chỉ xây cất trong ba ngày!”

21Thật ra, Chúa Giê-xu nói “Đền Thờ này” là chỉ thân thể Ngài.

22Đến khi Chúa sống lại từ cõi chết, các môn đệ nhớ lại lời ấy nên họ càng tin Thánh Kinh và lời Chúa Giê-xu đã phán.

Chúa Giê-xu và Ni-cô-đem

23Khi Chúa Giê-xu ở Giê-ru-sa-lem dự lễ Vượt Qua, nhiều người tin Chúa vì thấy các phép lạ Ngài làm.

24Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu không tin cậy họ vì Ngài biết rõ mọi người.

25Chẳng cần ai nói, Chúa biết hết lòng dạ con người.
