Nehemiah

1Now after the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and numbered the porters and singing men, and Levites:

2I commanded Hanani my brother, and Hananias ruler of the house of Jerusalem, (for he seemed as a sincere man, and one that feared God above the rest,)

3And I said to them: Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened till the sun be hot. And while they were yet standing by, the gates were shut, and barred: and I set watchmen of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one by their courses, and every mall over against his house.

4And the city was very wide and great, and the people few in the midst thereof, and the houses were not built.

5But God had put in my heart, and I assembled the princes and magistrates, and common people, to number them: and I found a book of the number of them who came up at first, and therein it was found written:

6These are the children of the province, who came up from the captivity of them that had been carried away, whom Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon had carried away, and who returned into Judea, every one into his own city.

7Who came with Zorobabel, Josue, Nehemias, Azarias, Raamias, Nahamani, Mardochai, Belsam, Mespharath, Begoia, Nahum, Baana. The number of the men of the people of Israel:

8The children of Pharos, two thousand one hundred seventy-two.

9The children of Sephatia, three hundred seventy-two.

10The children of Area, six hundred fifty-two.

11The children of Phahath Moab of the children of Josue and Joab, two thousand eight hundred eighteen.

59The children of Saphatia, the children of Hatil, the children of Phochereth, who was born of Sabaim, the son of Amon.

60All the Nathinites, and the children of the servants of Solomon, three hundred ninety-two.

61And these are they that came up from Telmela, Thelharsa, Cherub, Addon, and Emmer: and could not shew the house of their fathers, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.

62The children of Dalaia, the children of Tobia, the children of Necoda, six hundred forty-two.

63And of the priests, the children of Habia, the children of Accos, the children of Berzellai, who took a wife of the daughters of Berzellai the Galaadite, and he was called by their name.

64These sought their writing in the record, and found it not: and they were cast out of the priesthood.

65And Athersatha said to them, that they should not eat of the holies of holies, until there stood up a priest learned and skillful.

66All the multitude as it were one man, forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,

67Beside their menservants and womenservants, who were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven: and among them singing men, and singing women, two hundred forty-five.

68Their horses, seven hundred thirty-six: their mules two hundred forty-five:

69Their camels, four hundred thirty-five, their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

70And some of the heads of the families gave unto the work. Athersatha gave into the treasure a thousand drama of gold, fifty bowls, and five hundred and thirty garments for priests.

71And some of the heads of families gave to the treasure of the work, twenty thousand drama of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver.

72And that which the rest of the people gave, was twenty thousand drama of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty-seven garments for priests.

73And the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singing men, and the rest of the common people, and the Nathinites, and all Israel dwelt in their cities.

5Thiên Chúa của tôi đã thúc đẩy tôi tập họp các trưởng tộc, quan chức và dân chúng lại để kiểm tra dân số theo gia phả. Tôi đã tìm thấy cuốn gia phả ghi tên những người đầu tiên hồi hương ; tôi thấy ghi ở đó như sau :

6Đây là những người trong miền đã từ chốn lưu đày hồi hương. Họ là những người bị vua Ba-by-lon là Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo đày ải. Họ trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa, ai về thành nấy.

8Con cháu ông Pác-ốt : hai ngàn một trăm bảy mươi hai người ;

9con cháu ông Sơ-phát-gia : ba trăm bảy mươi hai người ;

10con cháu ông A-rác : sáu trăm năm mươi hai người ;

11con cháu ông Pa-khát Mô-áp, tức là con cháu ông Giê-su-a và ông Giô-áp : hai ngàn tám trăm mười tám người ;

12con cháu ông Ê-lam : một ngàn hai trăm năm mươi bốn người ;

13con cháu ông Dát-tu : tám trăm bốn mươi lăm người ;

14con cháu ông Dắc-cai : bảy trăm sáu mươi người ;

15con cháu ông Bin-nui : sáu trăm bốn mươi tám người ;

16con cháu ông Bê-vai : sáu trăm hai mươi tám người ;

17con cháu ông Át-gát : hai ngàn ba trăm hai mươi hai người ;

18con cháu ông A-đô-ni-cam : sáu trăm sáu mươi bảy người ;

19con cháu ông Bích-vai : hai ngàn sáu mươi bảy người ;

20con cháu ông A-đin : sáu trăm năm mươi lăm người ;

21con cháu ông A-te, tức là con cháu ông Khít-ki-gia : chín mươi tám người ;

22con cháu ông Kha-sum : ba trăm hai mươi tám người ;

23con cháu ông Bê-xai : ba trăm hai mươi bốn người ;

24con cháu ông Kha-ríp : một trăm mười hai người ;

25con cháu ông Ghíp-ôn : chín mươi lăm người ;

26người Bê-lem và người Nơ-tô-pha : một trăm tám mươi tám người ;

27người A-na-thốt : một trăm hai mươi tám người ;

28người Bết Át-ma-vét : bốn mươi hai người ;

29người Kia-giát Giơ-a-rim, người Cơ-phi-ra và người Bơ-ê-rốt : bảy trăm bốn mươi ba người ;

30người Ra-ma và người Ghe-va : sáu trăm hai mươi mốt người ;

31người Mích-mát : một trăm hai mươi hai người ;

32người Bết Ên và người Ai : một trăm hai mươi ba người ;

33người Nơ-vô khác : năm mươi hai người ;

34con cháu ông Ê-lam khác : một ngàn hai trăm năm mươi bốn người ;

35con cháu ông Kha-rim : ba trăm hai mươi người ;

36con cháu ông Giê-ri-khô : ba trăm bốn mươi lăm người ;

37con cháu ông Lốt, ông Kha-đích và ông Ô-nô : bảy trăm hai mươi mốt người ;

38con cháu ông Xơ-na-a : ba ngàn chín trăm ba mươi người.

39Các tư tế : con cháu ông Giơ-đa-gia thuộc nhà ông Giê-su-a : chín trăm bảy mươi ba người ;

40con cháu ông Im-me : một ngàn năm mươi hai người ;

41con cháu ông Pát-khua : một ngàn hai trăm bốn mươi bảy người ;

42con cháu ông Kha-rim : một ngàn mười bảy người.

43Các thầy Lê-vi : con cháu ông Giê-su-a, tức là ông Cát-mi-ên, con cháu ông Hốt-va : bảy mươi bốn người.

44Các ca viên : con cháu ông A-xáp : một trăm bốn mươi tám người.

45Các người giữ cửa : con cháu ông Sa-lum, con cháu ông A-te, con cháu ông Tan-môn, con cháu ông Ắc-cúp, con cháu ông Kha-ti-ta, con cháu ông Sô-vai : một trăm ba mươi tám người.

46Những người phục vụ Đền Thờ : con cháu ông Xi-kha, con cháu ông Kha-xu-pha, con cháu ông Táp-ba-ốt,

47con cháu ông Kê-rốt, con cháu ông Xi-a, con cháu ông Pa-đôn,

48con cháu ông Lơ-va-na, con cháu ông Kha-ga-va, con cháu ông San-mai,

49con cháu ông Kha-nan, con cháu ông Ghít-đên, con cháu ông Ga-kha,

50con cháu ông Rơ-a-gia, con cháu ông Rơ-xin, con cháu ông Nơ-cô-đa,

51con cháu ông Gát-dam, con cháu ông Út-da, con cháu ông Pa-xê-ác,

52con cháu ông Bê-xai, con cháu người Mơ-u-nim, con cháu ông Nơ-phít-xim,

53con cháu ông Bác-búc, con cháu ông Kha-cúp-pha, con cháu ông Khác-khua,

54con cháu ông Bát-lít, con cháu ông Mơ-khi-đa, con cháu ông Khác-sa,

55con cháu ông Bát-cốt, con cháu ông Xít-ra, con cháu ông Te-mác,

56con cháu ông Nơ-xi-ác, con cháu ông Kha-ti-pha.

57Con cháu những người nô lệ của vua Sa-lô-môn : con cháu ông Xô-tai, con cháu ông Xô-phe-rét, con cháu ông Pơ-ri-đa,

58con cháu ông Gia-la, con cháu ông Đác-côn, con cháu ông Ghít-đên,

59con cháu ông Sơ-phát-gia, con cháu ông Khát-tin, con cháu ông Pô-khe-rét Ha Xơ-va-gim, con cháu ông A-môn.

60Tổng số những người phục vụ Đền Thờ và con cháu những người nô lệ của vua Sa-lô-môn là ba trăm chín mươi hai người.

61Và đây là những người trở về từ Ten Me-lác, Ten Khác-sa, Cơ-rúp, Át-đôn và Im-me. Họ không thể dựa vào gia tộc và dòng giống của họ để cho biết có thuộc về Ít-ra-en hay không :

62con cháu ông Đơ-la-gia, con cháu ông Tô-vi-gia, con cháu ông Nơ-cô-đa : sáu trăm bốn mươi hai người.

63Và trong hàng tư tế, có con cháu ông Khô-va-gia, con cháu ông Hắc-cốt, con cháu ông Bác-di-lai là người đã lấy một trong các con gái ông Bác-di-lai, người Ga-la-át, nên đã mang tên ông ấy.

64Những người này đã tìm kiếm tên của họ trong cuốn gia phả, nhưng không thấy, nên đã bị loại ra khỏi hàng tư tế vì bị coi là ô uế.

65Quan tổng đốc cấm họ không được ăn của thánh cho đến khi có một tư tế đứng lên xem thẻ xăm U-rim và Tum-mim.

66Toàn thể cộng đồng là bốn mươi hai ngàn ba trăm sáu mươi người,

67không kể tôi trai tớ gái của họ lên tới bảy ngàn ba trăm ba mươi bảy người. Họ cũng có hai trăm bốn mươi lăm nam nữ ca viên.

68Ngoài ra, họ còn có bốn trăm ba mươi lăm con lạc đà và sáu ngàn bảy trăm hai mươi con lừa.

69Một số gia trưởng đóng góp vào công cuộc này. Vị tổng đốc dâng vào quỹ một ngàn quan tiền, năm mươi bình rảy, năm trăm ba mươi bộ phẩm phục tư tế.

70Một số gia trưởng khác cũng đóng góp hai mươi ngàn quan tiền và một ngàn một trăm ký bạc vào quỹ xây dựng.

71Còn những người khác trong dân thì đóng góp hai mươi ngàn quan tiền, một ngàn ký bạc và sáu mươi bảy bộ phẩm phục tư tế.

72Đến tháng thứ bảy, con cái Ít-ra-en đã ổn định xong nơi ăn chốn ở trong các thành.
