1And the Lord said to Moses: Go in to Pharao, and speak to him: Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to sacrifice to me.

2But if thou refuse, and withhold them still:

3Behold my hand shall be upon thy fields: and a very grievous murrain upon thy horses, and asses, and camels, and oxen, and sheep.

4And the Lord will make a wonderful difference between the possessions of Israel and the possessions of the Egyptians, that nothing at all shall die of those things that belong to the children of Israel.

5And the Lord appointed a time, saying: Tomorrow will the Lord do this thing in the land.

6The Lord therefore did this thing the next day: and all the beasts of the Egyptians died, but of the beasts of the children of Israel there died not one.

7And Pharao sent to see: and there was not any thing dead of that which Israel possessed. And Pharao’s heart was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

8And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: Take to you handfuls of ashes out of the chimney, and let Moses sprinkle it in the air in the presence of Pharao.

9And be there dust upon all the land of Egypt: for there shall be boils and swelling blains both in men and beasts in the whole land of Egypt.

10And they took ashes out of the chimney, and stood before Pharao, and Moses sprinkled it in the air: and there came boils with swelling blains in men and beasts.

11Neither could the magicians stand before Moses for the boils that were upon them, and in all the land of Egypt.

12And the Lord hardened Pharao’s heart, and he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses.

13And the Lord said to Moses: Arise in the morning, and stand before Pharao, and thou shalt say to him: Thus saith the Lord the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to sacrifice to me.

14For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thy heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people: that thou mayst know there is none like me in all the earth.

15For now I will stretch out my hand to strike thee, and thy people with pestilence, and thou shalt perish from the earth.

16And therefore have I raised thee, that I may shew my power in thee, and my name may be spoken of throughout all the earth.

17Dost thou yet hold back my people: and wilt thou not let them go?

18Behold I will cause it to rain tomorrow at this same hour, an exceeding great hail: such as hath not been in Egypt from the day that it was founded, until this present time.

19Send therefore now presently, and gather together thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field: for men and beasts, and all things that shall be found abroad, and not gathered together out of the fields, which the hail shall fall upon, shall die.

20He that feared the word of the Lord among Pharao’s servants, made his servants and his cattle flee into houses:

21But he that regarded not the word of the Lord, left his servants and his cattle in the fields:

22And the Lord said to Moses: Stretch forth thy hand towards heaven, that there may be hail in the whole land of Egypt, upon men, and upon beasts, and upon every herb of the field in the land of Egypt.

23And Moses stretched forth his rod towards heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and lightning running along the ground: and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

24And the hail and fire mixed with it drove on together: and it was of so great bigness, as never before was seen in the whole land of Egypt since that nation was founded.

25And the hail destroyed through all the land of Egypt all things that were in the fields, both man and beast: and the hail smote every herb of the field, and it broke every tree of the country.

26Only in the land of Gessen, where the children of Israel were, the hail fell not.

27And Pharao sent and called Moses and Aaron, saying to them: I have sinned this time also; the Lord is just: I and my people are wicked.

28Pray ye to the Lord, that the thunderings of God and the hail may cease: that I may let you go, and that you may stay here no longer.

29Moses said: As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will stretch forth my hands to the Lord, and the thunders shall cease, and the hail shall be no more: that thou mayst know that the earth is the Lord’s.

30But I know that neither thou, nor thy servants do yet fear the Lord God.

31The flax therefore and the barley were hurt, because the barley was green, and the flax was now boiled:

32But the wheat, and other winter corn were not hurt, because they were lateward.

33And when Moses was gone from Pharao out of the city, he stretched forth his hands to the Lord: and the thunders and the hail ceased, neither did there drop any more rain upon the earth.

34And Pharao seeing that the rain and the hail, and the thunders were ceased, increased his sin.

35And his heart was hardened, and the heart of his servants, and it was made exceeding hard: neither did he let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses.

1ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê : “Hãy đến với Pha-ra-ô và nói với vua : ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của người Híp-ri, phán thế này : Hãy thả dân Ta ra, để chúng đi thờ phượng Ta.

2Nếu ngươi không chịu thả cho chúng đi, mà cứ cầm giữ lại,

3thì này tay của ĐỨC CHÚA sẽ giáng ôn dịch rất nặng xuống trên súc vật của ngươi ở ngoài đồng, trên ngựa, lừa, lạc đà, bò bê và chiên cừu.

4ĐỨC CHÚA sẽ đối xử với súc vật của Ít-ra-en khác súc vật của Ai-cập, và không có gì thuộc về con cái Ít-ra-en sẽ phải chết.”

5Và ĐỨC CHÚA ấn định thời gian, Người phán : “Ngày mai, ĐỨC CHÚA sẽ làm điều ấy trong xứ.”

6Ngay hôm sau, ĐỨC CHÚA làm điều ấy : tất cả súc vật của người Ai-cập đều chết, còn trong đàn súc vật của con cái Ít-ra-en, thì không con nào chết cả.

7Pha-ra-ô sai người đi xem, thì này trong đàn súc vật của Ít-ra-en, không con nào chết cả. Nhưng lòng Pha-ra-ô đã ra nặng nề cứng cỏi ; vua không thả cho dân đi.

8ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê và ông A-ha-ron : “Hãy bốc hai nắm mồ hóng trong lò, rồi Mô-sê hãy tung lên trời trước mắt Pha-ra-ô.

9Mồ hóng đó sẽ biến thành bụi trên khắp đất Ai-cập ; trên khắp đất Ai-cập, nơi thân thể người ta và thú vật, sẽ có ung nhọt mọc lên và mưng mủ.”

10Các ông lấy mồ hóng trong lò, rồi đến đứng trước mặt Pha-ra-ô. Ông Mô-sê tung lên trời và mồ hóng biến thành ung nhọt rồi mưng mủ nơi thân thể người ta và thú vật.

11Các phù thuỷ không đứng nổi trước mặt ông Mô-sê được, vì ung nhọt mọc đầy mình các phù thuỷ cũng như mọi người Ai-cập.

12Nhưng ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho lòng Pha-ra-ô ra chai đá, nên vua ấy không nghe lời các ông như ĐỨC CHÚA đã nói trước với ông Mô-sê.

13ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê : “Sáng mai, ngươi hãy dậy sớm, và đến đứng trước mặt Pha-ra-ô. Ngươi sẽ nói với vua ấy : ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của người Híp-ri, phán thế này : Hãy thả dân Ta ra để chúng đi thờ phượng Ta.

14Vì lần này chính Ta sẽ giáng mọi tai ương xuống trên ngươi, trên bề tôi và dân ngươi, để ngươi biết rằng trên khắp mặt đất không có ai bằng Ta.

15Nếu bây giờ Ta ra tay, dùng dịch hạch mà đánh phạt ngươi và dân ngươi, thì dân ngươi sẽ biến khỏi mặt đất.

16Nhưng sở dĩ Ta còn cho ngươi sống, là để ngươi nhìn thấy sức mạnh của Ta, và để thiên hạ loan truyền danh Ta trên khắp mặt đất.

17Nếu ngươi cứ chống lại dân Ta, không thả cho chúng đi,

18thì đây, ngày mai, vào giờ này, Ta sẽ cho mưa đá rất nặng, như chưa từng có ở Ai-cập từ ngày dựng nước cho đến bây giờ.

19Vậy ngay bây giờ, ngươi hãy sai người dẫn vào nơi trú ẩn : súc vật của ngươi và tất cả những gì thuộc về ngươi đang ở ngoài đồng. Bất cứ người hay thú vật nào ở ngoài đồng mà không đem vào nhà, thì mưa đá rơi xuống, người ấy, vật ấy sẽ chết.”

20Trong số các bề tôi của Pha-ra-ô, ai kính sợ lời ĐỨC CHÚA thì đưa tôi tớ và súc vật vào nhà để trú ẩn ;

21còn kẻ không quan tâm đến lời ĐỨC CHÚA, thì để tôi tớ và súc vật ở lại ngoài đồng.

22ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê : “Hãy giơ tay lên trời và làm cho mưa đá rơi xuống trên khắp đất Ai-cập, trên người ta, trên thú vật và mọi cỏ cây ngoài đồng tại đất Ai-cập.”

23Ông Mô-sê giơ gậy lên trời, và ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho sấm vang lên và mưa đá rơi xuống ; sét đánh xuống mặt đất, và ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho mưa đá rơi xuống trên đất Ai-cập.

24Đã có mưa đá và lửa loé ra giữa mưa đá ; mưa đá rất nặng, như chưa từng có trên khắp đất Ai-cập, kể từ khi chúng thành một dân.

25Trên khắp đất Ai-cập, mưa đá đã tàn phá tất cả những gì đang ở ngoài đồng, từ người cho đến thú vật ; mưa đá cũng tàn phá mọi cỏ cây ngoài đồng và bẻ gãy mọi cây cối ngoài đồng.

26Chỉ có đất Gô-sen, nơi con cái Ít-ra-en ở, là không có mưa đá.

27Pha-ra-ô sai người triệu ông Mô-sê và ông A-ha-ron đến và nói với các ông : “Lần này, chính ta có tội. ĐỨC CHÚA là Đấng công chính, còn ta và dân ta đều lầm lỗi.

28Hãy khẩn cầu ĐỨC CHÚA đi ! Sấm sét và mưa đá như thế đủ rồi ! Ta sẽ thả các ngươi ra và các ngươi sẽ không còn phải ở lại lâu hơn nữa.”

29Ông Mô-sê nói với vua : “Khi ra khỏi thành, tôi sẽ giơ tay lên khẩn cầu ĐỨC CHÚA. Sấm sẽ ngưng và mưa đá sẽ tạnh, để bệ hạ biết là cõi đất thuộc về ĐỨC CHÚA.

30Nhưng tôi biết rằng cả bệ hạ lẫn bề tôi của bệ hạ vẫn chưa kính sợ ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa.”

31Cây gai, lúa mạch bị tàn phá, vì lúa mạch đã lên gié, cây gai đã trổ bông.

32Còn lúa mì, lúa miến không bị tàn phá vì mọc muộn hơn.

33Ông Mô-sê ra khỏi cung điện Pha-ra-ô và rời bỏ thành. Ông giơ tay lên khẩn cầu ĐỨC CHÚA ; sấm và mưa đá ngưng, còn mưa cũng đã tạnh trên mặt đất.

34Pha-ra-ô thấy mưa đã tạnh và mưa đá cũng như sấm đã ngưng, thì lại phạm tội : lòng vua và lòng bề tôi của vua lại ra nặng nề cứng cỏi.

35Lòng Pha-ra-ô vẫn chai đá và vua không thả cho con cái Ít-ra-en đi, như ĐỨC CHÚA đã dùng ông Mô-sê mà nói trước.
