1The sons of Juda: Phares, Hesron, and Charmi, and Hur, and Sobal.

2And Raia the son of Sobal beget Jahath, of whom were born Ahumai, and Laad. These are the families of Sarathi.

3And this is the posterity of Etam: Jezrahel, and Jesema, and Jedebos: and the name of their sister was Asalelphuni.

4And Phanuel the father of Gedor, and Ezar the father of Hosa, these are the sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephratha the father of Bethlehem.

5And Assur the father of Thecua had two wives, Halaa and Naara:

6And Naara bore him Ozam, and Hepher, and Themani, and Ahasthari: these are the sons of Naara.

7And the sons of Halaa, Sereth, Isaar, and Ethnan.

8And Cos begot Anob, and Soboba, the kindred of Aharehel the son of Arum.

9And Jabes was more honourable than any of his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabes, saying: Because I bore him with sorrow.

10And Jabes called upon the God of Israel, saying: If blessing thou wilt bless me, and wilt enlarge my borders, and thy hand be with me, and thou save me from being oppressed by evil. And God granted him the things he prayed for.

11And Caleb the brother of Sua beget Mahir, who was the father of Esthon.

12And Esthon beget Bethrapha, and Phesse, and Tehinna father of the city of Naas: these are the men of Recha.

13And the sons of Cenez were Othoniel, and Saraia. And the sons of Othoniel, Hathath, and Maonathi.

14Maonathi beget Ophra, and Saraia begot Joab the father of the Valley of artificers: for artificers were there.

15And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephone, were Hir, and Ela, and Naham. And the sons of Ela: Cenez.

16The sons also of Jaleleel: Ziph, and Zipha, Thiria, and Asrael.

17And the sons of Esra, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon, and he beget Mariam, and Sammai, and Jesba the father of Esthamo.

18And his wife Judaia, bore Jared the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Icuthiel the father of Zanoe. And these are the sons of Bethia the daughter of Pharao, whom Mered took to wife.

19And the sons of his wife Odaia the sister of Naham the father of Celia, Garmi, and Esthamo, who was of Machathi.

20The sons also of Simon, Amnon, and Rinna the son of Hanan, and Thilon. And the sons of Jesi Zoheth, and Benzoheth.

21The sons of Sela the son of Juda: Her the father of Lecha, and Laada the father of Maresa, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen in the House of oath.

27The sons of Semei were sixteen, and six daughters: but his brethren had not many sons, and the whole kindred could not reach to the sum of the children of Juda.

28And they dwelt in Bersabee, and Molada, and Hasarsuhal,

29And in Bala, and in Asom, and in Tholad,

30And in Bathuel, and in Horma, and in Siceleg,

31And in Bethmarchaboth, and in Hasarsusim, and in Bethberai, and in Saarim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.

32Their towns also were Etam, and Aen, Remmon, and Thochen, and Asan, five cities.

33And all their villages round about these cities as far as Baal. This was their habitation, and the distribution of their dwellings.

34And Mosabab and Jemlech, and Josa, the son of Amasias,

35And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josabia the son of Saraia, the son of Asiel,

36And Elioenai, and Jacoba, and Isuhaia, and Asaia, and Adiel, and Ismiel, and Banaia,

37Ziza also the son of Sephei the son of Allon the son of Idaia the son of Semri the son of Samaia.

38These were named princes in their kindreds, and in the houses of their families were multiplied exceedingly.

39And they went forth to enter into Gador as far as to the east side of the valley, to seek pastures for their flocks.

40And they found fat pastures, and very good, and a country spacious, and quiet, and fruitful, in which some of the race of Cham had dwelt before.

41And these whose names are written above, came in the days of Ezechias king of Juda: and they beat down their tents, and slew the inhabitants that were found there, and utterly destroyed them unto this day: and they dwelt in their place, because they found there fat pastures.

42Some also of the children of Simeon, five hundred men, went into mount Seir, having for their captains Phaltias and Naaria and Raphaia and Oziel the sons of Jesi:

43And they slew the remnant of the Amalecites, who had been able to escape, and they dwelt there in their stead unto this day.

1Các con ông Giu-đa là : Pe-rét, Khét-rôn, Các-mi, Khua, Sô-van.

2Rơ-a-gia, con Sô-van, sinh Gia-khát ; Gia-khát sinh A-khu-mai và La-hát. Đó là các thị tộc người Xo-rơ-a.

3Đây là các con của ông Khua : người cha của Ê-tham, rồi đến Gít-rơ-en, Gít-ma, Gít-bát. Em gái các ông tên là Hát-len-pô-ni.

4Đó là các con ông Khua, con đầu lòng của ông Ép-ra-tha, cha của ông Bê-lem.

5Ông Át-khua, cha của Tơ-cô-a, có hai bà vợ là Khen-a và Na-a-ra.

6Bà Na-a-ra sinh ra cho ông : A-khút-dam, Khê-phe, các người Têm-ni và người A-khát-ta-ri. Đó là con cháu bà Na-a-ra.

7Các con của bà Khen-a là : Xe-rét, Xô-kha, Ét-nan.

8Ông Cốt sinh A-núp, Hát-xô-vê-va và các thị tộc A-khác-khên, con Ha-rum.

9Ông Gia-bết vẻ vang hơn các anh em mình. Mẹ ông đặt tên cho ông là Gia-bết ; bà nói : “Tôi đã sinh ra nó trong cơn khốn khổ.”

10Ông Gia-bết kêu cầu Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en rằng : “Nếu thật Ngài giáng phúc cho con, thì xin nới rộng bờ cõi của con và xin tay Ngài phù trợ con, làm cho sự dữ lìa xa và cho con thoát cơn khốn khổ.” Thiên Chúa đã ban cho ông điều ông xin.

11Ông Cơ-lúp, anh em của Su-kha, sinh Mơ-khia là cha của Ét-tôn.

12Ét-tôn sinh Bết Ra-pha, Pa-xê-ác, Tơ-khin-na, cha của Ia Na-khát. Đó là những người thành Rê-kháp.

13Các con ông Cơ-nát là : Ót-ni-ên và Xơ-ra-gia. Các con ông Ót-ni-ên là Kha-thát và Mơ-ô-nô-thai.

14Mơ-ô-nô-thai sinh Óp-ra ; Xơ-ra-gia sinh Giô-áp cha của Ghê Kha-ra-sim, vì họ là những người thợ thủ công.

15Các con của ông Ca-lếp, con ông Giơ-phun-ne, là : I-ru, Ê-la, Na-am. Con của Ê-la là Cơ-nát.

16Các con của ông Giơ-ha-len-ên là Díp, Di-pha, Tia-gia, A-xác-ên.

17và bà mang thai Mi-ri-am, Sam-mai, Gít-bác, cha của Ét-tơ-mô-a.

18Vợ ông, một người Giu-đa, đã sinh ra Gie-rét, cha của Gơ-đo, rồi sinh Khe-ve, cha của Xô-khô, Giơ-cô-thi-ên, cha của Da-nô-ác.

19Các con bà vợ ông Hô-đi-gia, chị em với ông Na-kham là : cha của các ông Cơ-i-la, người Gác-mi và Ét-tơ-mô-a, người Ma-a-kha.

20Các con ông Gít-i là Dô-khết và Ben Dô-khết.

21Các con ông Sê-la, con ông Giu-đa, là : E, cha của Lê-kha, La-đa, cha của Ma-rê-sa và các thị tộc những người dệt gấm tại Bết Át-bê-a ;

22Giô-kim, các người Cô-dê-va, Giô-át và Xa-ráp, những người đã làm chủ Mô-áp, rồi lại trở về Bê-lem. Đó là chuyện xưa.

23Những người này là thợ gốm, họ cư ngụ tại Nơ-ta-im và Gơ-đê-ra ; họ ở đấy với đức vua để phục vụ ông.

24Các con ông Si-mê-ôn là : Nơ-mu-ên, Gia-min, Gia-ríp, De-rác, Sa-un,

25Sa-lum con ông, Míp-xam con ông, Mít-ma con ông.

26Các con ông Mít-ma là : Kham-mu-ên con ông, Dắc-cua con ông, Sim-y con ông.

27Ông Sim-y được mười sáu người con trai và sáu người con gái, còn anh em ông thì không có nhiều con cái, và các thị tộc của họ không phát triển được như con cái Giu-đa.

28Họ cư ngụ tại Bơ-e Se-va, Mô-la-đa và Kha-xa Su-an,

29tại Bin-ha, tại E-xem và tại Tô-lát,

30tại Bơ-thu-ên, tại Khoóc-ma, tại Xích-lắc,

31tại Bết Mác-ca-vốt, tại Kha-xa Xu-xim, tại Bết Bia-i và tại Sa-a-ra-gim. Đấy là các thành của họ cho tới khi vua Đa-vít lên ngôi.

32Còn các thôn làng của họ thì có năm là : Ê-tham, A-gin, Rim-môn, Tô-khen, A-san ;

33và tất cả các thôn làng nằm chung quanh các thành ấy cho tới Ba-an. Đó là những nơi họ cư trú và được đăng bộ.

34Mơ-sô-váp, Giam-lếch, Giô-sa, con của A-mát-gia,

35Giô-en, Giê-hu, con của Giô-síp-gia, con của Xơ-ra-gia, con của A-xi-ên,

36En-giô-ê-nai, Gia-a-cô-va, Giơ-sô-kha-gia, A-xa-gia, A-đi-ên, Giơ-xi-mi-ên, Bơ-na-gia,

37Di-da, Ben Síp-y, Ben A-lôn, Ben Giơ-đa-gia, Ben Sim-ri, Ben Sơ-ma-gia.

38Những người ấy được ghi đích danh, đều là những người đứng đầu các thị tộc, và các gia tộc của họ đã tăng lên rất nhiều.

39Từ lối vào Gơ-đo, họ đi tới phía đông thung lũng để tìm đồng cỏ cho đoàn vật của mình.

40Họ tìm được những đồng cỏ xanh tươi, tốt đẹp, và đất đai thì rộng thênh thang, lại an toàn và yên ổn : vì trước kia con cái ông Kham đã cư ngụ tại đó.

41Các người được ghi đích danh ấy đã tới vào thời vua Khít-ki-gia làm vua Giu-đa ; họ đánh chiếm các lều trại và gia cư gặp thấy ở đó. Họ áp dụng luật tru hiến cho những thứ ấy đến ngày nay. Rồi họ định cư thay thế người ta, vì ở đấy có đồng cỏ cho đoàn vật của họ.

42Năm trăm người trong số con cái Si-mê-ôn đi tới vùng núi Xê-ia, đứng đầu là ông Pơ-lát-gia, ông Nơ-ác-gia, ông Rơ-pha-gia, ông Út-di-ên, các con ông Gít-i.

43Họ giết hết số người A-ma-lếch thoát chết còn sót lại, rồi cư ngụ ở đó cho đến ngày nay.
