Corruzione estrema degli ultimi tempi

1OR sappi questo, che negli ultimi giorni sopraggiungeranno tempi difficili.

2Perciocchè gli uomini saranno amatori di loro stessi, avari, vanagloriosi, superbi, bestemmiatori, disubbidienti a padri e madri, ingrati, scellerati;

3senza affezion naturale, mancatori di fede, calunniatori, incontinenti, spietati, senza amore inverso i buoni;

4traditori, temerari, gonfi, amatori della voluttà anzi che di Dio;

5avendo apparenza di pietà, ma avendo rinnegata la forza d'essa; anche tali schiva.

6Perciocchè del numero di costoro son quelli che sottentrano nelle case, e cattivano donnicciuole cariche di peccati, agitate da varie cupidità;

7le quali sempre imparano, giammai non possono pervenire alla conoscenza della verità.

8Ora, come Ianne e Iambre contrastarono a Mosè, così ancora costoro contrastano alla verità; uomini corrotti della mente, riprovati intorno alla fede.

9Ma non procederanno più oltre; perciocchè la loro stoltizia sarà manifesta a tutti, siccome ancora fu quella di coloro.

Esortazione a perseverar nella conoscenza e nell'insegnamento della sana dottrina

10ORA, quant'è a te, tu hai ben compresa la mia dottrina, il mio procedere, le mie intenzioni, la mia fede, la mia pazienza, la mia carità, la mia sofferenza;

11le mie persecuzioni, le mie afflizioni, quali mi sono avvenute in Antiochia, in Iconio, in Listri; tu sai quali persecuzioni io ho sostenute; e pure il Signore mi ha liberato, da tutte.

12Ora, tutti quelli ancora, che voglion vivere piamente in Cristo Gesù, saranno perseguitati.

13Ma gli uomini malvagi ed ingannatori, procederanno in peggio, seducendo, ed essendo sedotti.

14Ma tu, persevera nelle cose che hai imparate, e delle quali sei stato accertato, sapendo da chi tu le hai imparate;

15e che da fanciullo tu hai conoscenza delle sacre lettere, le quali ti possono render savio a salute, per la fede che è in Cristo Gesù.

16Tutta la scrittura è divinamente inspirata, ed utile ad insegnare, ad arguire, a correggere, ad ammaestrare in giustizia;

17acciocchè l'uomo di Dio sia compiuto, appieno fornito per ogni buona opera.

Evil in the Last Days

1But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come.

2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good,

4traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!

6They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions,

7who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses,so also these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and disqualified from the faith.

9But they will not advance much further. For just like Jannes and Jambres, their folly will be plain to everyone.

All Scripture Is God-Breathed

10You, however, have observed my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my perseverance,

11my persecutions, and the sufferings that came upon me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.

12Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

13while evil men and imposters go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14But as for you, continue in the things you have learned and firmly believed, since you know from whom you have learned them.

15From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
