Luke

1Now it came to pass on a sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

2But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?

3And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him;

4how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone?

5And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.

6And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

7And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find how to accuse him.

8But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

9And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it?

10And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored.

11But they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

12And it came to pass in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God.

13And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles:

14Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,

15and Matthew and Thomas, and James the son of Alphæus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,

16and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor;

17and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judæa and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18and they that were troubled with unclean spirits were healed.

19And all the multitude sought to touch him; for power came forth from him, and healed them all.

20And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

23Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the same manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

24But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

25Woe unto you, ye that are full now! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you, ye that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

26Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.

27But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,

28bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.

29To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also.

30Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.

33And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same.

34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.

35But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

36Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

37And judge not, and ye shall not be judged: and condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: release, and ye shall be released:

38give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.

39And he spake also a parable unto them, Can the blind guide the blind? shall they not both fall into a pit?

40The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

42Or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me cast out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

43For there is no good tree that bringeth forth corrupt fruit; nor again a corrupt tree that bringeth forth good fruit.

44For each tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47Every one that cometh unto me, and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:

48he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: because it had been well builded.

49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightway it fell in; and the ruin of that house was great.

1Nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Đức Chúa Jêsus đi qua giữa đồng lúa mì, môn đồ bứt bông lúa, lấy tay vò đi và ăn.

2Có mấy người Pha-ri-si nói rằng: Sao các ngươi làm điều không nên làm trong ngày Sa-bát?

3Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Vậy các ngươi chưa đọc chuyện vua Đa-vít làm trong khi vua cùng kẻ đi theo bị đói sao?

4Thể nào vua vào đền Đức Chúa Trời, lấy bánh bày ra mà ăn, và cho kẻ đi theo ăn nữa, dầu là bánh chỉ các thầy tế lễ mới được phép ăn thôi?

5Ngài lại phán rằng: Con người cũng là Chúa ngày Sa-bát.

6Một ngày Sa-bát khác, Đức Chúa Jêsus vào nhà hội dạy dỗ. Tại đó, có một người bàn tay hữu bị teo.

7Vả, các thầy thông giáo và người Pha-ri-si chăm chỉ xem Ngài, coi thử Ngài có chữa bịnh trong ngày Sa-bát chăng, để tìm dịp mà cáo Ngài.

8Nhưng Ngài biết ý tưởng họ, nên phán cùng người teo tay rằng: Hãy chờ dậy, đứng giữa chúng ta. Người ấy chờ dậy, và đứng lên.

9Đức Chúa Jêsus liền phán cùng họ rằng: Ta hỏi các ngươi: Trong ngày Sa-bát, nên làm điều lành hay là làm điều dữ, nên cứu người hay là giết người?

10Đoạn, Ngài lấy mắt liếc khắp mọi người xung quanh mình, rồi phán cùng người bịnh rằng: Hãy giơ tay ra. Người giơ ra, thì tay được lành.

11Nhưng họ giận lắm, bèn bàn cùng nhau về việc mình có thể xử với Đức Chúa Jêsus cách nào.

12Trong lúc đó, Đức Chúa Jêsus đi lên núi để cầu nguyện; và thức thâu đêm cầu nguyện Đức Chúa Trời.

13Đến sáng ngày, Ngài đòi môn đồ đến, chọn mười hai người, gọi là sứ đồ:

14Si-môn, Ngài đặt tên là Phi-e-rơ, Anh-rê em ruột của Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ và Giăng, Phi-líp và Ba-thê-lê-my,

15Ma-thi-ơ và Thô-ma, Gia-cơ con của A-phê, Si-môn gọi là Xê-lốt,

16Giu-đê con của Gia-cơ và Giu-đa ỗch-ca-ri-ốt là kẻ phản Ngài.

17Kế đó, Ngài cùng môn đồ xuống, dừng lại nơi đồng bằng. ỳ đó, có nhiều môn đồ Ngài cùng đoàn dân rất đông từ khắp xứ Giu-đê, thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, và miền biển Ty-rơ, Si-đôn mà đến, để nghe Ngài dạy và cho được chữa lành bịnh mình.

18Những kẻ mắc tà ma khuấy hại cũng đều được lành.

19Cả đoàn dân đến kiếm cách rờ Ngài, vì từ Ngài có quyền phép ra, chữa lành hết mọi người.

20Đức Chúa Jêsus bèn ngước mắt ngó môn đồ, mà phán rằng: Phước cho các ngươi nghèo khó, vì nước Đức Chúa Trời thuộc về các ngươi!

21Phước cho các ngươi hiện đang đói, vì sẽ được no đủ! Phước cho các ngươi hiện đang khóc lóc, vì sẽ được vui mừng!

22Phước cho các ngươi khi vì cớ Con người, thiên hạ sẽ ghét, đuổi, mắng nhiếc các ngươi, bỏ tên các ngươi như đồ ô uế!

23Ngày đó, hãy vui vẻ, nhảy nhót và mừng rỡ, vì phần thưởng các ngươi trên trời sẽ lớn lắm; bởi tổ phụ họ cũng đối đãi các đấng tiên tri dường ấy.

24Song, khốn cho các ngươi và người giàu có, vì đã được sự yên ủi của mình rồi!

25Khốn cho các ngươi là kẻ hiện đang no, vì sẽ đói! Khốn cho các ngươi là kẻ hiện đang cười, vì sẽ để tang và khóc lóc!

26Khốn cho các ngươi, khi mọi người sẽ khen các ngươi, vì tổ phụ họ cũng xử với các tiên tri giả như vậy!

27Nhưng ta phán cùng các ngươi, là người nghe ta: Hãy yêu kẻ thù mình, làm ơn cho kẻ ghét mình,

28chúc phước cho kẻ rủa mình, và cầu nguyện cho kẻ sỉ nhục mình.

29Ai vả ngươi má bên nầy, hãy đưa luôn má bên kia cho họ; còn nếu ai dựt áo ngoài của ngươi, thì cũng đừng ngăn họ lấy luôn áo trong.

30Hễ ai xin, hãy cho, và nếu có ai đoạt lấy của các ngươi, thì đừng đòi lại.

31Các ngươi muốn người ta làm cho mình thể nào, hãy làm cho người ta thể ấy.

32Nếu các ngươi yêu kẻ yêu mình, thì có ơn chi? Người có tội cũng yêu kẻ yêu mình.

33Nếu các ngươi làm ơn cho kẻ làm ơn mình, thì có ơn chi? Người có tội cũng làm như vậy.

34Nếu các ngươi cho ai mượn mà mong họ trả, thì có ơn chi? Người có tội cũng cho người có tội mượn, để được thâu lại y số.

35Song các ngươi hãy yêu kẻ thù mình; hãy làm ơn, hãy cho mượn, mà đừng ngã lòng. Vậy, phần thưởng của các ngươi sẽ lớn, và các ngươi sẽ làm con của Đấng Rất Cao, vì Ngài lấy nhân từ đối đãi kẻ bạc và kẻ dữ.

36Hãy thương xót như Cha các ngươi hay thương xót.

37Đừng đoán xét ai, thì các ngươi khỏi bị đoán xét; đừng lên án ai, thì các ngươi khỏi bị lên án; hãy tha thứ, người sẽ tha thứ mình.

38Hãy cho, người sẽ cho mình; họ sẽ lấy đấu lớn, nhận, lắc cho đầy tràn, mà nộp trong lòng các ngươi; vì các ngươi lường mực nào, thì họ cũng lường lại cho các ngươi mực ấy.

39Ngài cũng phán cùng họ một thí dụ rằng: Kẻ mù có thể dắt kẻ mù được chăng? Cả hai há chẳng cùng té xuống hố sao?

40Môn đồ không hơn thầy; nhưng hễ môn đồ được trọn vẹn thì sẽ bằng thầy mình.

41Sao ngươi nhìn thấy cái rác trong mắt anh em mình, mà không thấy cây đà trong mắt ngươi?

42Sao ngươi nói được với anh em rằng: Anh ơi, để tôi lấy cái rác trong mắt anh ra, còn ngươi, thì không thấy cây đà trong mắt mình? Hỡi kẻ giả hình, hãy lấy cây đà ra khỏi mắt mình trước đã, rồi mới thấy rõ mà lấy cái rác ra khỏi mắt anh em.

43Cây sanh trái xấu không phải là cây tốt, cây sanh trái tốt không phải là cây xấu;

44vì hễ xem trái thì biết cây. Người ta không hái được trái vả nơi bụi gai, hay là trái nho nơi chòm kinh cước.

45Người lành bởi lòng chứa điều thiện mà phát ra điều thiện, kẻ dữ bởi lòng chứa điều ác mà phát ra điều ác; vì do sự đầy dẫy trong lòng mà miệng nói ra.

46Sao các ngươi gọi ta: Chúa, Chúa, mà không làm theo lời ta phán?

47Ta sẽ chỉ cho các ngươi biết kẻ nào đến cùng ta, nghe lời ta, và làm theo, thì giống ai.

48Kẻ ấy giống như một người kia cất nhà, đào đất cho sâu, xây nền trên vầng đá: nước tràn lan, dòng nước chảy mạnh xô vào nhà đó, nhưng không xô động được, vì đã cất chắc chắn.

49Song kẻ nào nghe lời ta mà không làm theo, thì giống như một người kia cất nhà trên đất không xây nền: dòng nước chảy mạnh xô vào nhà đó, tức thì nhà sụp xuống, và sự hư hại lớn lao.
