1Dù không người đuổi, người ác cắm đầu chạy,còn người ngay như sư tử can trường.

2Khi đất nước loạn lạc, sẽ có nhiều quan chức.Nhưng nhờ một người hiểu biết và sáng suốt, nước bền vững dài lâu.

3Quan chức bóc lột người nghèo nàn,khác nào mưa lụt quét sạch mùa màng.

4Người bỏ pháp luật đề cao tội ác;người giữ pháp luật chống lại người gian.

5Người ác chẳng lưu tâm đến công lý,người tôn thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu biết rõ công lý là gì.

6Thà nghèo mà ngay thật,còn hơn giàu mà bất chính.

7Con khôn ngoan tôn trọng luật pháp;đứa kết bạn côn đồ, gây nhục cho cha.

8Tài sản của người cho vay nặng lãilại rơi vào tay người biết thương hại người nghèo.

9Người coi thường, xây tai không nghe luật lệ,lời cầu nguyện người sẽ chẳng được nghe.

10Ai quyến rũ người lành làm ác,sẽ rơi vào bẫy chính mình đã giăng, còn người ngay lành vẫn hưởng phước lạc.

11Người giàu thường tự thấy mình khôn ngoan,nhưng người nghèo sáng dạ nhìn suốt thực hư.

12Khi người liêm chính nắm quyền, mọi người đều hân hoan.Khi người ác nổi dậy, ai nấy lo ẩn trốn.

13Người che giấu lỗi mình sẽ không được may mắnnhưng nếu thú nhận và từ bỏ tội, sẽ tìm được xót thương.

14Người kính sợ Chúa luôn hưởng hạnh phước,người rắn lòng bất chính thường bị họa tai.

15Người ác cai trị làm dân nghèo khốn khổ,như bị gấu đuổi, như sư tử vồ.

16Một cai quản ngu dốt lo bóc lột dân mình,một lãnh tụ muốn tồn tại phải liêm chính.

17Kẻ sát nhân luôn bị lương tâm dày vò, chạy trốn nơi vực thẳm.Đừng ai ngăn nó!

18Người ngay được cứu khỏi tai vạ,còn người gian tà phải bị sa ngã.

19Ai cày sâu cuốc bẩm thu hoạch nhiều hoa lợi,ai đuổi theo ảo mộng, đói nghèo xác xơ.

20Người trung tín hưởng nhiều phước hạnh,vội lo làm giàu, hình phạt chẳng thoát đâu.

21Thiên vị là xấu, bất kể lý do gì,có người chỉ vì một miếng bánh mà thiên vị.

22Người tham lam chạy theo của cải làm giàu,chẳng ngờ nghèo khó bất chợt theo sau.

23Đến cuối cùng, người ta sẽ phân địnhvà biết ơn người nói thẳng hơn là dua nịnh.

24Ăn cắp cha mẹ mà nói: “Đâu tội vạ gì,”chẳng khác đồng lõa với người phá hại.

25Kiêu căng gây tranh cạnh,tin cậy Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ được hưng thịnh.

26Người ngu xuẩn tự thị tự mãn,ai khôn sáng mới được an toàn.

27Người phân phát tài sản cho người nghèo chẳng hề thiếu thốn,nhưng miệng đời nguyền rủa người nhắm mắt làm ngơ.

28Khi người ác cầm quyền, người lành ẩn tránh.Khi người ác suy đồi, người lành gia tăng.

1The wicked flee when no one pursues;but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

2In rebellion, a land has many rulers,but order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.

3A needy man who oppresses the pooris like a driving rain which leaves no crops.

4Those who forsake the law praise the wicked;but those who keep the law contend with them.

5Evil men don’t understand justice;but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

6Better is the poor who walks in his integritythan he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.

7Whoever keeps the law is a wise son;but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

8He who increases his wealth by excessive interestgathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

9He who turns away his ear from hearing the law,even his prayer is an abomination.

10Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way,he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good.

11The rich man is wise in his own eyes;but the poor who has understanding sees through him.

12When the righteous triumph, there is great glory;but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

13He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper,but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

14Blessed is the man who always fears;but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

15As a roaring lion or a charging bear,so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.

16A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment.One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.

17A man who is tormented by blood guilt will be a fugitive until death.No one will support him.

18Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe;but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.

19One who works his land will have an abundance of food;but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

20A faithful man is rich with blessings;but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.

21To show partiality is not good,yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

22A stingy man hurries after riches,and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.

23One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favorthan one who flatters with the tongue.

24Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, “It’s not wrong,”is a partner with a destroyer.

25One who is greedy stirs up strife;but one who trusts in the LORD will prosper.

26One who trusts in himself is a fool;but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

27One who gives to the poor has no lack;but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

28When the wicked rise, men hide themselves;but when they perish, the righteous thrive.
