Chúa Hằng Hữu Phán Nghịch Ni-ni-ve

1Khốn thay cho Ni-ni-ve,thành phố đẫm máu và giả dối!Thành ấy đầy dẫy cướp bóc,và không bao giờ thiếu nạn nhân.

2Có tiếng roi quất mạnh,tiếng bánh xe vận chuyển ầm ầm!Tiếng ngựa phivà tiếng chiến xa va chạm.

3Kỵ binh xông tới,gươm giáo sáng ngời.Vô số người ngã gục,hàng đống thây người,vô số người chết,người đi bộ vấp phải xác chết.

4Tất cả chỉ vì Ni-ni-ve,thành xinh đẹp nhưng bất tín,làm người nữ ma thuật,dụ dỗ mọi người say đắm mình.Buôn các dân tộc bằng sự dâm đãngvà bán các gia đình bằng trò quỷ thuật.

5Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán:“Này, Ta chống lại ngươi!Tốc váy ngươi lênđể các dân tộc thấy ngươi trần truồng và các nướcđều chứng kiến cảnh ngươi bị hạ nhục.

6Ta sẽ ném vật nhơ bẩn trên ngươi,khinh miệt ngươi và khiến ngươi làm trò cười cho thiên hạ.

7Khi ấy, ai nhìn thấy ngươi đều sẽ lánh xa và nói:‘Ni-ni-ve điêu tàn. Ai sẽ khóc than nó?’ Ta tìm đâu cho ra những người an ủi ngươi?”

8Ngươi có hơn thành Thê-be không?Nó ở giữa các nhánh Sông Nin, có nước bọc quanh.Lấy biển làm chiến lũyvà thác ghềnhlàm tường thành.

9Ê-thi-ô-pi và Ai Cập là sức mạnh của nó;phải, sức mạnh vô biên. Phút và Ly-bi là đồng minhcủa nó.

10Thế mà nó còn bị lưu đày,bị bắt làm tù binh.Con cái nó bị đập nátở khắp các đầu đường xó chợ. Quan chức nó bị quân thù bắt thăm chia nhau làm nô lệ. Các lãnh đạo nó đều bị xiềng xích.

11Và ngươi, Ni-ni-ve, ngươi sẽ lảo đảo như người say.Tìm nơi ẩn núp vững chãi để trốn tránh quân thù.

12Nhưng tất cả đồn lũy ngươi sẽ thất thủnhư trái chín đầu mùa vả, hễ rung cây thì rụng xuống, rơi ngay vào miệng của người muốn ăn.

13Xem kìa, quân sĩ ngươi sẽ yếu ớtnhư đàn bà.Các cửa ải ngươi sẽ mở tung cho địch quânvà lửa sẽ nung chảy các hàng rào sắt.

14Hãy chứa nước!Để dành phòng khi bị bao vây. Hãy tăng cường các đồn lũy!Hãy đạp đất sét,trộn vôi hồ xây lò gạch cho chắc chắn.

15Tại đó, lửa sẽ thiêu đốt ngươi;gươm đao sẽ đâm chém.Kẻ thù sẽ thiêu đốt ngươi như châu chấu,ăn nuốt mọi thứ nó thấy.Không một ai trốn thoát,dù người có gia tăng đông như đàn châu chấu.

16Ngươi đã tăng số thương nhânđông hơn cả các vì sao trên trời.Nhưng giống như châu chấu,sẽ cắn phá sạch rồi bay đi mất.

17Các vệ binh và các tướng sĩ ngươi như đàn châu chấuđậu trên hàng rào trong ngày giá lạnh.Mặt trời vừa mọc lên, chúng đều chạy trốn,Tất cả chúng bay đi và biến mất.

18Hỡi vua A-sy-ri, những người chăn của vua đều ngủ;những người quyền quý của vua an nghỉ trong đất.Thần dân vua chạy tứ tán khắp các núi đồikhông ai còn tập họp, hướng dẫn họ nữa.

19Các vết thương của vua không thể nào chữa lành;các vết thương của vua quá trầm trọng.Tất cả những ai nghe tin vua bại vongđều vỗ tay reo mừng.Vì có ai thoát được sự thống trịáp bức bạo tàn không dứt của vua đâu?

1Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery—no end to the prey.

2The noise of the whip, the noise of the rattling of wheels, prancing horses, and bounding chariots,

3the horseman charging, and the flashing sword, the glittering spear, and a multitude of slain, and a great heap of corpses, and there is no end of the bodies. They stumble on their bodies

4because of the multitude of the prostitution of the alluring prostitute, the mistress of witchcraft, who sells nations through her prostitution, and families through her witchcraft.

5“Behold, I am against you,” says the LORD of Armies, “and I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame.

6I will throw abominable filth on you and make you vile, and will make you a spectacle.

7It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, ‘Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”

8Are you better than No-Amon,who was situated among the rivers,who had the waters around her, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?

9Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength. Put and Libya were her helpers.

10Yet was she carried away. She went into captivity. Her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets, and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

11You also will be drunken. You will be hidden. You also will seek a stronghold because of the enemy.

12All your fortresses will be like fig trees with the first-ripe figs. If they are shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater.

13Behold, your troops among you are women. The gates of your land are set wide open to your enemies. The fire has devoured your bars.

14Draw water for the siege. Strengthen your fortresses. Go into the clay, and tread the mortar. Make the brick kiln strong.

15There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.

16You have increased your merchants more than the stars of the skies. The grasshopper strips and flees away.

17Your guards are like the locusts, and your officials like the swarms of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day, but when the sun appears, they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

18Your shepherds slumber, king of Assyria. Your nobles lie down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and there is no one to gather them.

19There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you, for who hasn’t felt your endless cruelty?
