1Sau đó, Chúa Giê-xu rời thành Ca-bê-na-um, đến xứ Giu-đê và miền đông sông Giô-đan. Dân chúng tụ họp đông đảo nghe Ngài giảng dạy như thường lệ.

2Các thầy Pha-ri-si đến chất vấn Chúa, cố gài bẫy Ngài. Họ hỏi: “Thầy nghĩ sao? Người chồng được phép ly dị vợ mình không?”

3Chúa Giê-xu hỏi lại: “Môi-se dạy thế nào về việc ấy?”

4Họ đáp: “Môi-se đã cho phép! Chồng khi muốn ly dị, phải trao cho vợ chứng thư ly dị và cho nàng đi.”

5Chúa Giê-xu giảng giải: “Vì lòng dạ các ông cứng cỏi, Môi-se mới lập điều luật đó.

6Nhưng từ ban đầu, ‘Đức Chúa Trời tạo nên người nam người nữ.’

7‘Vì thế, người nam phải lìa cha mẹ để kết hợp với vợ, hai người thành một,

8vợ chồng không phải là hai nữa, nhưng chỉ là một.’

9Vậy chẳng ai có thể phân ly những người Đức Chúa Trời đã phối hợp.”

10Khi về nhà, các môn đệ lại hỏi Chúa vấn đề đó.

11Chúa giải thích: “Người nào ly dị vợ rồi cưới vợ khác là phạm tội ngoại tình.

12Và người đàn bà nào ly dị chồng rồi lấy chồng khác, cũng phạm tội ngoại tình.”

Chúa Giê-xu Ban Phước cho Trẻ Con

13Một ngày kia, các cha mẹ đem con mình đến gần Chúa Giê-xu, để Ngài đặt tay ban phước cho chúng, nhưng các môn đệ quở trách họ, không cho quấy rầy Chúa.

14Thấy thế, Chúa Giê-xu không hài lòng. Ngài bảo các môn đệ: “Cứ để trẻ con đến gần Ta, đừng ngăn cản, vì Nước của Đức Chúa Trời thuộc về những người giống các con trẻ ấy.

15Ta cho các con biết: Ai không tiếp nhận Đức Chúa Trời như con trẻ, sẽ không được vào Nước của Đức Chúa Trời.”

16Rồi Ngài bồng các em, đặt tay lên đầu, ban phước cho.

Người Giàu

17Khi Chúa Giê-xu sửa soạn lên đường, một người chạy đến quỳ xuống hỏi: “Thưa Thầy Thánh Thiện, tôi phải làm gì để được sống vĩnh cửu?”

18Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Sao anh gọi Ta là Thánh Thiện? Chỉ có một Đấng Thánh Thiện là Đức Chúa Trời.

19Anh hẳn biết các điều răn: ‘Các ngươi không được giết người; các ngươi không được ngoại tình; các ngươi không được trộm cắp; các ngươi không được làm chứng dối; đừng gian lận và phải hiếu kính cha mẹ.’”

20Anh hăng hái: “Từ thuở nhỏ đến giờ, tôi luôn vâng giữ các điều răn đó!”

21Chúa Giê-xu nhìn anh, lòng đầy thương mến: “Anh còn thiếu một điều: Về bán hết tài sản, lấy tiền phân phát cho người nghèo để chứa của cải trên trời, rồi hãy theo làm môn đệ Ta.”

22Nghe Chúa dạy, anh ủ rũ mặt mày, bỏ đi, vì anh rất giàu có.

23Chúa Giê-xu nhìn quanh, bảo các môn đệ: “Người giàu rất khó vào Nước của Đức Chúa Trời!”

24Nghe lời ấy, các môn đệ đều ngạc nhiên. Chúa Giê-xu dạy tiếp: “Này các con, người nào cậy mình giàu có, rất khó vào Nước của Đức Chúa Trời.

25Lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu vào Nước của Đức Chúa Trời!”

26Các môn đệ đều sững sờ: “Vậy thì ai được cứu?”

27Chúa Giê-xu nhìn họ và đáp: “Đối với loài người, việc ấy không ai làm được. Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời làm mọi việc đều được cả!”

28Phi-e-rơ thưa: “Chúng con đã bỏ tất cả để theo Thầy.”

29Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ta quả quyết với các con: Không ai bỏ nhà cửa, anh chị em, cha mẹ, vợ con, tài sản vì Ta và vì Phúc Âm

30mà trong đời này, không nhận lại gấp trăm lần nhà cửa, anh chị em, cha mẹ, vợ con, tài sản, với sự bức hại. Trong đời sau người ấy còn được sống vĩnh cửu.

31Nhưng nhiều người đang cao trọng sẽ kém cao trọng, và người kém cao trọng sẽ vượt lên hàng cao trọng.”

Chúa Lại Báo Trước Sự Chết của Ngài

32Trên đường lên Giê-ru-sa-lem, Chúa Giê-xu đi trước, các môn đệ theo sau, ngạc nhiên và sợ hãi. Chúa đem riêng mười hai sứ đồ, nói cho biết những việc sắp xảy ra:

33“Lên đến Giê-ru-sa-lem, Con Ngườisẽ bị phản bội, bắt nộp cho các thầy trưởng tế và thầy dạy luật, họ sẽ lên án xử tử Người, rồi giao nộp Người cho người La Mã.

34Họ sẽ chế giễu, phỉ nhổ, đánh đập, và giết Người, nhưng ba ngày sau, Người sẽ sống lại.”

Chúa Giê-xu Dạy về Sự Phục Vụ Người Khác

35Gia-cơ và Giăng, hai con trai Xê-bê-đê, đến thưa với Chúa: “Xin Thầy cho chúng con một ân huệ.”

36Chúa hỏi: “Các con muốn xin gì?”

37Họ đáp: “Xin Thầy cho hai anh em chúng con được ngồi bên phải và bên trái ngai vinh quang của Thầy trên Nước Trời.”

38Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu bảo: “Các con không hiểu điều mình cầu xin. Các con có uống chén đắng Ta sắp uống và chịu nổi báp-tem đau đớn Ta phải chịu không?”

39Họ đáp: “Thưa Thầy được!” Chúa Giê-xu dạy: “Các con sẽ uống chén Ta và chịu báp-tem Ta,

40nhưng về việc ngồi cạnh Ta, Ta không có quyền định đoạt, vì những chỗ ấy dành cho những người đã được Cha Ta chỉ định.”

41Mười sứ đồ kia rất bực tức khi nghe Gia-cơ và Giăng cầu xin.

42Chúa Giê-xu gọi họ đến dạy bảo: “Các con biết vua chúa các dân tộc nước ngoài cai trị rất tàn ác, và bọn quan lại cũng hà hiếp nhân dân,

43nhưng giữa các con không ai làm điều đó. Trái lại ai muốn làm lớn, phải làm đầy tớ người khác.

44Ai muốn lãnh đạo, phải làm nô lệ mọi người.

45Vì Con Người đến trần gian không phải để cho người phục vụ, nhưng để phục vụ người, và hy sinh tính mạng cứu chuộc nhiều người.”

Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Lành Người Mù Ba-ti-mê

46Sau đó, mọi người đến Giê-ri-cô. Khi Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ rời thành phố này, có đoàn dân đông đi theo. Ba-ti-mê (con của Ti-mê), người hành khất mù ngồi bên lề đường,

47nghe nói Chúa Giê-xu ở Na-xa-rét sắp đi ngang qua, liền gọi lớn: “Lạy Giê-xu, Con Vua Đa-vít, xin thương xót con!”

48Nhiều người quở mắng, bảo anh không được la lối. Nhưng anh cứ gân cổ kêu lớn hơn: “Lạy Con Vua Đa-vít, xin thương xót con!”

49Chúa Giê-xu dừng bước, bảo: “Gọi anh ấy đến đây!” Họ lại đổi giọng: “Kìa Chúa gọi anh đấy! Vui lên đi!”

50Ba-ti-mê liền vất áo choàng, đứng dậy đến gần Chúa Giê-xu.

51Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Con muốn Ta giúp gì đây?” Anh mù liền đáp: “Lạy Thầy, xin cho con thấy được!”

52Chúa Giê-xu phán với anh: “Con cứ đi, đức tin con đã chữa cho con lành!” Lập tức, Ba-ti-mê được sáng mắt, rồi cùng đám đông đi theo Chúa.

1And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judæa by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

2¶ And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

3And he answered and said unto them,What did Moses command you?

4And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

5And Jesus answered and said unto them,For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

10And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

11And he saith unto them,Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

13¶ And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them,Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17¶ And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18And Jesus said unto him,Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him,One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23¶ And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples,How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them,Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27And Jesus looking upon them saith,With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

28¶ Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29And Jesus answered and said,Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

31But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32¶ And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33Saying,Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

34And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

35¶ And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36And he said unto them,What would ye that I should do for you?

37They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38But Jesus said unto them,Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them,Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them,Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46¶ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimæus, the son of Timæus, sat by the highway side begging.

47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51And Jesus answered and said unto him,What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him,Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
