Rois vaincus

1Voici les rois que les enfants d’Israël battirent, et dont ils possédèrent le pays de l’autre côté du Jourdain, vers le soleil levant, depuis le torrent de l’Arnon jusqu’à la montagne de l’Hermon, avec toute la plaine à l’orient.

2Sihon, roi des Amoréens, qui habitait à Hesbon. Sa domination s’étendait depuis Aroër, qui est au bord du torrent de l’Arnon, et, depuis le milieu du torrent, sur la moitié de Galaad, jusqu’au torrent de Jabbok, frontière des enfants d’Ammon;

3sur la plaine, jusqu’à la mer de Kinnéreth à l’orient, et jusqu’à la mer de la plaine, la mer Salée, à l’orient vers Beth-Jeschimoth; et du côté du midi, sur le pied du Pisga.

4Og, roi de Basan, seul reste des Rephaïm, qui habitait à Aschtaroth et à Édréï.

5Sa domination s’étendait sur la montagne de l’Hermon, sur Salca, sur tout Basan jusqu’à la frontière des Gueschuriens et des Maacathiens, et sur la moitié de Galaad, frontière de Sihon, roi de Hesbon.

6Moïse, serviteur de l’Éternel, et les enfants d’Israël, les battirent; et Moïse, serviteur de l’Éternel, donna leur pays en possession aux Rubénites, aux Gadites, et à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé.

7Voici les rois que Josué et les enfants d’Israël battirent de ce côté-ci du Jourdain, à l’occident, depuis Baal-Gad dans la vallée du Liban jusqu’à la montagne nue qui s’élève vers Séir. Josué donna leur pays en possession aux tribus d’Israël, à chacune sa portion,

8dans la montagne, dans la vallée, dans la plaine, sur les coteaux, dans le désert, et dans le midi; pays des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Cananéens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens.

9Le roi de Jéricho, un; le roi d’Aï, près de Béthel, un;

10le roi de Jérusalem, un; le roi d’Hébron, un;

11le roi de Jarmuth, un; le roi de Lakis, un;

12le roi d’Églon, un; le roi de Guézer, un;

13le roi de Debir, un; le roi de Guéder, un;

14le roi de Horma, un; le roi d’Arad, un;

15le roi de Libna, un; le roi d’Adullam, un;

16le roi de Makkéda, un; le roi de Béthel, un;

17le roi de Tappuach, un; le roi de Hépher, un;

18le roi d’Aphek, un; le roi de Lascharon, un;

19le roi de Madon, un; le roi de Hatsor, un;

20le roi de Schimron-Meron, un; le roi d’Acschaph, un;

21le roi de Taanac, un; le roi de Meguiddo, un;

22le roi de Kédesch, un; le roi de Jokneam, au Carmel, un;

23le roi de Dor, sur les hauteurs de Dor, un; le roi de Gojim, près de Guilgal, un;

24le roi de Thirtsa, un. Total des rois: trente et un.

The Kings Defeated East of the Jordan

1Now these are the kings of the land whom the Israelites struck down and whose lands they took beyond the Jordan to the east, from the Arnon Valley to Mount Hermon, including all the Arabah eastward:

2Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon. He ruled from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, along the middle of the valley, up to the Jabbok River (the border of the Ammonites), that is, half of Gilead,

3as well as the Arabah east of the Sea of Chinnerethto the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), eastward through Beth-jeshimoth, and southward below the slopes of Pisgah.

4And Og king of Bashan,one of the remnant of the Rephaim, who lived in Ashtaroth and Edrei.

5He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salecah, all of Bashan up to the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and half of Gilead to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

6Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites had struck them down and given their land as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

The Kings Defeated West of the Jordan

7And these are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered beyond the Jordan to the west, from Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir (according to the allotments to the tribes of Israel, Joshua gave them as an inheritance

8the hill country, the foothills,the Arabah, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites):

9the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is near Bethel, one;

10the king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

11the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

12the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

13the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

14the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

15the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

16the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

17the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

18the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

19the king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

20the king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

21the king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

22the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one;

23the king of Dor in Naphath-dor,one; the king of Goiim in Gilgal,one;

24and the king of Tirzah, one. So there were thirty-one kings in all.
