2 Samuel

1And David saith, 'Is there yet any left to the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?'

2And the house of Saul hath a servant, and his name [is] Ziba, and they call for him unto David; and the king saith unto him, 'Art thou Ziba?' and he saith, 'Thy servant.'

3And the king saith, 'Is there not yet a man to the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of God?' And Ziba saith unto the king, 'Jonathan hath yet a son — lame.'

4And the king saith to him, 'Where [is] he?' and Ziba saith unto the king, 'Lo, he [is] in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lo-Debar.'

5And king David sendeth, and taketh him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Lo-Debar,

6and Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, cometh unto David, and falleth on his face, and doth obeisance, and David saith, 'Mephibosheth;' and he saith, 'Lo, thy servant.'

7And David saith to him, 'Be not afraid; for I certainly do with thee kindness because of Jonathan thy father, and have given back to thee all the field of Saul thy father, and thou dost eat bread at my table continually.'

8And he boweth himself, and saith, 'What [is] thy servant, that thou hast turned unto the dead dog — such as I?'

9And the king calleth unto Ziba servant of Saul, and saith unto him, 'All that was to Saul and to all his house, I have given to the son of thy lord,

10and thou hast served for him the land, thou and thy sons, and thy servants, and hast brought in, and there hath been to the son of thy lord bread, and he hath eaten it; and Mephibosheth son of thy lord doth eat continually bread at my table;' and Ziba hath fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11And Ziba saith unto the king, 'According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so doth thy servant;' as to Mephibosheth, 'he is eating at my table ([saith the king]) as one of the sons of the king.'

12And Mephibosheth hath a young son, and his name [is] Micha, and every one dwelling in the house of Ziba [are] servants to Mephibosheth.

13And Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for at the table of the king he is eating continually, and he [is] lame of his two feet.

1Vua Đa-vít nói : “Nhà Sa-un có còn người nào sống sót không ? Vì ông Giô-na-than, ta sẽ lấy tình mà đối xử với người ấy.”

2Nhà Sa-un có một người tôi tớ tên là Xi-va. Người ta mời ông đến gặp vua Đa-vít. Vua hỏi ông : “Ngươi là Xi-va phải không ?” Ông thưa : “Chính tôi tớ ngài đây.”

3Vua bảo ông : “Nhà Sa-un không còn người nào nữa sao, để ta lấy tình mà đối xử với người ấy như Thiên Chúa đòi hỏi ?” Ông Xi-va trả lời vua : “Vẫn còn một người con trai của ông Giô-na-than, bị bại hai chân.”

4Vua hỏi ông : “Ông ấy ở đâu ?” Ông Xi-va trả lời vua : “Ông ấy đang ở nhà ông Ma-khia, con ông A-mi-ên, tại Lô Đơ-va.”

5Vua Đa-vít sai người đi đón ông về từ nhà ông Ma-khia, con ông Am-mi-ên, tại Lô Đơ-va.

6Khi ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét, con ông Giô-na-than, cháu vua Sa-un, đến gặp vua Đa-vít, ông cúi rạp xuống mà lạy. Vua Đa-vít gọi : “Mơ-phi-bô-sét !” Ông thưa : “Dạ, tôi tớ ngài đây !”

7Vua Đa-vít bảo ông : “Đừng sợ ! Vì ông Giô-na-than, cha cháu, ta muốn lấy tình mà đối xử với cháu. Ta sẽ trả cho cháu tất cả ruộng đất của vua Sa-un, ông của cháu. Phần cháu, cháu sẽ luôn luôn dùng bữa tại bàn ăn của ta.”

8Ông lạy và nói : “Tôi tớ ngài là gì, mà ngài quay về phía một con chó chết như cháu ?”

9Vua Đa-vít gọi ông Xi-va, đầy tớ vua Sa-un, và bảo ông : “Tất cả những gì thuộc về vua Sa-un và thuộc về toàn thể nhà Sa-un, ta ban cho con trai của chủ ngươi.

10Ngươi, con cái ngươi và tôi tớ ngươi sẽ cày cấy đất đai cho ông ấy. Ngươi sẽ thu hoạch và cái đó sẽ là lương thực cho con của chủ ngươi ăn. Còn ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét, con của chủ ngươi, ông sẽ luôn luôn dùng bữa tại bàn ăn của ta.” Ông Xi-va có mười lăm con trai và hai mươi tôi tớ.

11Ông Xi-va thưa vua : “Tất cả những gì đức vua là chúa thượng tôi truyền cho tôi tớ ngài, tôi tớ ngài sẽ làm như thế.” Vậy ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét ăn tại bàn của vua, như một trong các hoàng tử.

12Ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét có một con trai nhỏ tên là Mi-kha. Mọi người ở trong nhà ông Xi-va đều là tôi tớ ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét.

13Nhưng ông Mơ-phi-bô-sét ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, vì ông luôn luôn ăn tại bàn của vua. Ông bị què hai chân.
