Thảo Luận về Ngày Sa-bát

1Một ngày Sa-bát, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi ngang qua đồng lúa mì. Các môn đệ hái bông lúa, chà cho tróc vỏ rồi ăn.

2Các thầy Pha-ri-si liền phàn nàn: “Các ông làm thế là trái luật! Không được hái lúa vào ngày Sa-bát!”

3Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Các ông chưa đọc Kinh Thánh về điều Đa-vít và các bạn đồng hành bị đói sao?

4Vua vào Đền Thờ, ăn bánh thánh dành riêng cho các thầy tế lễ, còn đưa cho các bạn ăn nữa. Việc đó không trái luật sao?”

5Rồi Chúa Giê-xu tiếp: “Con Ngườilà Chúa, cũng là Chúa của ngày Sa-bát.”

Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Bệnh trong Ngày Sa-bát

6Một ngày Sa-bát khác, Chúa Giê-xu vào hội đường giảng dạy, gặp một người bị teo bàn tay phải.

7Các thầy dạy luật và Pha-ri-si chăm chú theo dõi, xem Chúa Giê-xu có chữa bệnh trong ngày Sa-bát không, để lấy cớ tố cáo Ngài.

8Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu biết ý tưởng họ. Ngài bảo người teo tay: “Hãy đứng dậy và đến trước mặt mọi người.” Anh ấy liền vâng lời.

9Chúa Giê-xu quay sang các thầy Pha-ri-si và dạy luật “Tôi hỏi các ông, ngày Sa-bát làm điều thiện là hợp pháp, hay làm điều ác? Nên cứu người hay hại người?”

10Chúa nhìn quanh mọi người rồi phán với người teo tay: “Hãy xòe bàn tay ra!” Anh làm theo, bàn tay liền được lành.

11Các thầy Pha-ri-si và thầy dạy luật rất giận dữ, bàn nhau tìm mưu giết Ngài.

Chúa Giê-xu Chọn Mười Hai Sứ Đồ

12Một hôm, Chúa Giê-xu lên núi cầu nguyện với Đức Chúa Trời suốt đêm.

13Đến sáng, Ngài gọi các môn đệ đến, chọn mười hai người làm sứ đồ. Dưới đây là tên của họ:

14Si-môn (Chúa đặt tên là Phi-e-rơ), Anh-rê (em Phi-e-rơ), Gia-cơ, Giăng, Phi-líp, Ba-thê-lê-my,

15Ma-thi-ơ, Thô-ma, Gia-cơ (con An-phê), Si-môn (thuộc đảng Xê-lốt),

16Giu-đa (con Gia-cơ), và Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt (về sau phản Chúa).

Đoàn Dân theo Chúa Giê-xu

17Xuống núi, Chúa Giê-xu và các sứ đồ đến một khu đất bằng phẳng, nhiều môn đệ đứng chung quanh. Dân chúng đông đảo từ xứ Giu-đê, Giê-ru-sa-lem, và từ miền duyên hải xa xôi như Ty-rơ và Si-đôn.

18Họ kéo đến nghe Ngài giảng dạy và xin trị bệnh. Các người bị quỷ ám cũng được chữa lành.

19Mọi người tìm cách lại gần sờ Chúa, vì quyền năng từ Ngài phát ra chữa lành bệnh tật cho họ.

Các Phước Lành

20Nhìn các môn đệ, Chúa Giê-xu dạy: “Phước cho các con đang nghèo khổ,vì Nước của Đức Chúa Trời thuộc về các con.

21Phước cho các con đang đói khát,vì sẽ được no đủ.Phước cho các con đang than khóc,vì đến lúc sẽ vui cười.

22Phước cho các con khi bị người ta thù ghét, xua đuổi, nhục mạ, nguyền rủa vì Con Người.

23Gặp cảnh ngộ ấy, các con hãy vui mừng nhảy múa, vì sẽ được phần thưởng lớn dành sẵn trên trời. Ngày xưa các nhà tiên tri cũng từng bị đối xử như thế.”

Nói Trước Những Mối Họa

24“Nhưng khốn cho người giàu có,vì chỉ được sung sướng tạm thời.

25Khốn cho người đang no chán,vì sẽ phải đói khổ.Khốn cho người đang cười cợt,vì sẽ phải than khóc.

26Khốn cho người được quần chúng ca ngợi,vì các tiên tri giả ngày xưa cũng từng được ca ngợi như thế.”

Yêu kẻ thù

27“Các con hãy nghe: Phải yêu kẻ thù, lấy ân báo oán.

28Phải cầu phước cho người nguyền rủa mình, cầu nguyện cho người ngược đãi mình.

29Nếu các con bị ai tát má bên này, cứ đưa luôn má bên kia! Nếu có ai đoạt áo dài, cứ cho luôn áo ngắn!

30Ai xin gì, cứ cho; ai chiếm đoạt gì, đừng tìm cách lấy lại!

31Hãy làm cho người khác điều các con muốn người ta làm cho mình!

32Nếu các con chỉ yêu những người yêu mình thì có gì đáng khen đâu? Người tội lỗi cũng yêu nhau lối ấy.

33Nếu các con chỉ lấy ân báo ân thì tốt đẹp gì đâu? Người tội lỗi cũng cư xử như thế.

34Nếu các con chỉ cho những người sòng phẳng vay mượn thì ân nghĩa gì! Người gian ác cũng cho vay như thế, và đòi lại đầy đủ.

35Phải yêu kẻ thù! Làm ơn cho họ. Cứ cho mượn, đừng đòi lại. Như thế, phần thưởng các con trên trời sẽ rất lớn. Các con sẽ được làm con Đấng Chí Cao, vì chính Ngài ban ơn cho người bội bạc và người gian ác.

36Phải có lòng thương người như Cha của các con đầy lòng thương.”

Đừng Lên Án

37“Đừng chỉ trích lên án ai, các con sẽ khỏi bị chỉ trích lên án. Hãy tha thứ, các con sẽ được tha thứ.

38Các con cho gì, sẽ nhận nấy. Người ta sẽ lấy thùng lớn đong đầy, nhận chặt, lắc, và đổ thêm cho tràn rồi trao cho các con. Các con lường cho người ta mức nào, người ta sẽ lường lại mức đó.”

39Chúa Giê-xu còn dạy ẩn dụ này: “Người khiếm thị làm sao dẫn đường cho người khiếm thị? Cả hai sẽ đưa nhau xuống hố thẳm.

40Môn đệ không hơn thầy, nhưng nếu được rèn luyện đầy đủ, sẽ giống thầy mình.

41Sao các con nhìn thấy cái dằm trong mắt người khác, mà không biết có cả khúc gỗ trong mắt mình?

42Sao các con dám nói: ‘Này anh, để tôi lấy cái dằm trong mắt cho anh’ khi chính các con không thấy khúc gỗ trong mắt mình? Hạng đạo đức giả, trước hết phải lấy khúc gỗ khỏi mắt mình, mới có thể thấy rõ để giúp đỡ người khác.”

Cây và Trái

43“Cây lành không sinh quả độc; cây độc cũng không sinh quả lành.

44Nhờ xem quả mà biết cây. Bụi gai không bao giờ sinh quả vả, bụi gai độc cũng không sinh quả nho.

45Người tốt do lòng thiện mà nói ra lời lành. Người xấu do lòng ác mà nói ra lời dữ. Vì do những điều chất chứa trong lòng mà miệng nói ra.”

Xây trên Nền Tảng Vững Chắc

46“Sao các con gọi Ta là ‘Chúa, Chúa!’ mà không vâng lời Ta?

47Ta sẽ chỉ cho các con biết người nào đến với Ta, nghe lời Ta, và làm theo Ta là thế nào.

48Ví như người cất nhà biết đào móng, đặt nền trên vầng đá vững chắc. Khi nước lụt dâng lên, dòng nước cuốn mạnh, nhưng nhà không lay chuyển vì được xây cất kiên cố.

49Nhưng ai nghe lời Ta mà không thực hành, giống như người cất nhà không xây nền. Khi bị dòng nước cuốn mạnh, nó sẽ sụp đổ tan tành.”

1And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

2And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

3And Jesus answering them said,Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

4How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

5And he said unto them,That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

6And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

7And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

8But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand,Rise up, and stand forth in the midst.And he arose and stood forth.

9Then said Jesus unto them,I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

10And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man,Stretch forth thy hand.And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

11And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

12And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

13¶ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

14Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

15Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes,

16And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

17¶ And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

20¶ And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said,Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

23Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

24But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

25Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

26Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

27¶ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

39And he spake a parable unto them,Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

40The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

46¶ And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
