1 Thessalonians

1Thưa anh chị em, thiết tưởng không cần viết cho anh chị em về thời kỳ và ngày giờ Chúa trở lại.

2Vì chính anh chị em biết quá rõ ngày của Chúa sẽ đến bất ngờ như kẻ trộm giữa đêm khuya.

3Khi người ta nói: “Hòa bình và an ninh” thì hủy diệt xảy đến bất ngờ như sản phụ bị quặn đau trước giờ sinh nở; họ không thể nào tránh thoát.

4Tuy nhiên, thưa anh chị em, anh chị em không tối tăm đến nỗi ngày ấy đến bất ngờ như kẻ trộm.

5Anh chị em là con của ánh sáng, của ban ngày; chúng ta không thuộc về ban đêm, về bóng tối.

6Vậy chúng ta đừng mê ngủ như kẻ khác, nhưng phải thức canh và tỉnh táo;

7Vì ban đêm người ta mới ngủ nghỉ, say sưa.

8Nhưng chúng ta là người của ban ngày, nên phải tỉnh táo, mặc áo giáp đức tin và yêu thương, đội nón sắt hy vọng cứu rỗi.

9Vì Đức Chúa Trời chẳng chọn chúng ta để đoán phạt, nhưng để cứu rỗi do công lao Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu.

10Chúa đã chết thay cho chúng ta để chúng ta sống với Ngài mãi mãi, dù chúng ta còn sống hay đã qua đời trong ngày Chúa trở lại.

11Vậy anh chị em hãy tiếp tục an ủi, xây dựng nhau, như anh chị em thường làm.

Những Lời Dạy Cuối của Phao-lô

12Thưa anh chị em thân yêu, xin anh chị em ghi ân những người có công khó hướng dẫn, khuyên bảo anh chị em.

13Hãy hết lòng tôn trọng, yêu mến họ, anh chị em phải sống hòa thuận nhau.

14Xin anh chị em khiển trách người lười biếng, khuyến khích người nhút nhát, nâng đỡ người yếu đuối và nhẫn nại với mọi người.

15Đừng lấy ác báo ác, nhưng luôn luôn làm điều thiện cho nhau và cho mọi người.

16Hãy mãi mãi vui mừng,

17cầu nguyện không ngừng, và

18tạ ơn Chúa trong mọi tình huống; Đức Chúa Trời muốn mỗi người thuộc về Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu thi hành điều ấy.

19Đừng dập tắt Chúa Thánh Linh.

20Đừng coi thường các lời tiên tri.

21Hãy thử nghiệm mọi điều và giữ lấy điều tốt.

22Hãy tránh xa gian ác dưới mọi hình thức.

Lời Chào Cuối của Phao-lô

23Cầu xin chính Đức Chúa Trời hòa bình thánh hóa anh chị em hoàn toàn. Cầu xin tâm linh, tâm hồn và thân thể anh chị em được bảo vệ trọn vẹn trong ngày Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu trở lại.

24Đấng đã kêu gọi anh chị em sẽ thực hiện điều ấy, vì Ngài thành tín.

25Xin anh chị em cũng cầu nguyện cho chúng tôi.

26Hãy kính chào tất cả anh chị em với cái siết tay thân mật.

27Nhân danh Chúa, tôi yêu cầu anh chị em đọc thư này cho tất cả các tín hữu.

28Cầu chúc anh chị em hằng hưởng được ơn phước của Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu.

1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16Rejoice evermore.

17Pray without ceasing.

18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19Quench not the Spirit.

20Despise not prophesyings.

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25Brethren, pray for us.

26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
