Uy Quyền của Chúa Giê-xu Bị Thách Thức

1Một hôm, Chúa Giê-xu đang giảng dạy cho dân chúng và rao truyền Phúc Âm trong sân Đền Thờ, các thầy trưởng tế, các thầy dạy luật, và các trưởng lão đến hỏi:

2“Xin Thầy cho chúng tôi biết, Thầy cậy uy quyền gì để làm những việc đó? Ai ủy quyền cho Thầy?”

3Chúa đáp: “Ta cũng hỏi các ngươi một câu:

4Lễ báp-tem của Giăng bắt nguồn từ trời hay từ người?”

5Họ thảo luận với nhau: “Nếu chúng ta nói từ trời, ông ấy sẽ hỏi: Sao các ngươi không tin Giăng?

6Còn nếu chúng ta nói từ người, dân chúng sẽ ném đá chúng ta, vì dân chúng đều công nhận Giăng là nhà tiên tri.”

7Vậy họ đáp rằng: “Chúng tôi không biết.”

8Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Nếu thế, Ta cũng không nói cho các ông biết nguồn gốc uy quyền của Ta.”

Ẩn Dụ về Đầy Tớ Gian Ác

9Chúa Giê-xu kể câu chuyện này cho dân chúng: “Người kia trồng một vườn nho, cho đầy tớ mướn, rồi đi xa một thời gian khá lâu.

10Đến mùa hái nho, chủ sai người nhà về thu hoa lợi. Nhưng các đầy tớ đánh đập và đuổi về tay không.

11Chủ sai người khác, lại bị đánh đập sỉ nhục và đuổi về tay không.

12Người thứ ba cũng bị đánh đập đến mang thương tích, rồi đuổi đi.

13Chủ vườn nho tự nghĩ: ‘Phải làm sao đây? Được rồi! Ta sẽ sai con trai yêu quý của ta đến, chắc họ phải kính nể con ta.’

14Thấy con trai chủ, các đầy tớ bảo nhau: ‘Nó là con thừa tự. Giết nó đi, sản nghiệp sẽ về tay chúng ta!’

15Và họ kéo người con ra ngoài vườn, giết đi.” Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Vậy, chủ vườn nho sẽ đối xử với các đầy tớ cách nào?

16Ta quả quyết với anh chị em—chắc chắn chủ sẽ đến tiêu diệt họ và giao vườn cho người khác mướn.” Người nghe góp ý kiến: “Mong không ai làm như mấy đầy tớ đó!”

17Chúa Giê-xu nhìn họ và phán: “Vậy câu Thánh Kinh này có nghĩa gì:‘Tảng đá bị thợ xây nhà loại rađã trở thành tảng đá móng?’

18Ai ngã vào tảng đá sẽ bị tan xác, còn tảng đá ấy rơi nhằm ai, sẽ nghiền họ ra bụi.”

19Nghe xong, các thầy dạy luật và các thầy trưởng tế muốn bắt Chúa Giê-xu ngay vì họ biết Ngài ám chỉ họ—họ là những đầy tớ gian ác. Nhưng họ không dám ra tay, vì sợ dân chúng nổi loạn.

Thuế cho Sê-sa

20Để tìm cơ hội, các lãnh đạo sai thám tử giả làm người thành thật. Họ cốt gài bẫy để bắt Chúa Giê-xu nộp cho chính quyền La Mã.

21Họ hỏi Chúa: “Thưa Thầy, chúng tôi biết lời Thầy dạy rất ngay thẳng. Thầy không thiên vị ai, chỉ lấy công tâm giảng dạy đạo Đức Chúa Trời.

22Xin Thầy cho biết có nên nộp thuế cho Sê-sakhông?”

23Biết rõ âm mưu của họ, Chúa Giê-xu nói:

24“Đưa Ta xem một đồng La Mã.Hình và tên ai trên đồng bạc này?” Họ đáp: “Sê-sa.”

25Chúa dạy: “Đem nộp cho Sê-sa những gì của Sê-sa, và trả lại Đức Chúa Trời những gì thuộc về Đức Chúa Trời.”

26Thế là âm mưu gài bẫy Chúa trước công chúng bị thất bại. Sững sờ vì câu trả lời của Chúa, họ cứng miệng không biết nói gì.

Thảo Luận về Sự Sống Lại

27Các thầy Sa-đu-sê—các lãnh đạo tôn giáo chủ trương không có sự sống lại từ cõi chết. Họ đặt câu hỏi:

28“Thưa Thầy, luật Môi-se dạy nếu người đàn ông nào qua đời không có con, thì em trai người đó sẽ lấy vợ goá của anh để sinh con nối dõi cho anh.

29Trường hợp nhà kia có bảy anh em. Người anh cả cưới vợ rồi chết không con.

30Người thứ hai cưới vợ góa của anh, cũng chết không con.

31Người thứ ba cũng vậy. Cứ thế, cả bảy người đều chết không con.

32Cuối cùng người phụ nữ cũng chết.

33Đến ngày sống lại, người phụ nữ đó sẽ làm vợ ai? Vì cả bảy người đều đã cưới nàng!”

34Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Hôn nhân là việc của loài người trên đất.

35Còn người được sống lại trong Nước Trời không ai còn cưới gả nữa.

36Họ sẽ không chết nữa, nhưng giống như thiên sứ. Họ là con cái Đức Chúa Trời, vì được Ngài cho sống lại.

37Về vấn đề người chết sống lại, chính Môi-se đã đề cập trong trang sách viết về bụi gai cháy. Ông gọi Chúa là ‘Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sác, và Đức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp.’

38Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời của người sống, không phải của người chết. Vậy đối với Đức Chúa Trời, mọi người đều sống.”

39Các thầy dạy luật đứng nghe buột miệng khen: “Thầy giải đáp hay thật!”

40Sau đó không ai dám hỏi Ngài nữa.

Đấng Mết-si-a Là Con Ai?

41Chúa Giê-xu hỏi họ: “Tại sao người ta nói Đấng Mết-si-a thuộc dòng dõi Đa-vít?

42Vì chính Đa-vít đã viết trong Thi Thiên:‘Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Chúa tôi:Hãy ngồi bên phải Ta

43cho đến chừng Ta đặt kẻ thù dưới gót chân Con.’

44Đa-vít đã gọi Đấng Mết-si-a là ‘Chúa,’ thì sao Đấng Mết-si-a có thể thuộc dòng dõi Đa-vít được?”

45Khi dân chúng đang lắng nghe, Chúa nói với các môn đệ:

46“Phải đề phòng các thầy dạy luật, vì họ thích mặc áo lễ thật dài, mong được người ta kính chào ngoài đường phố, ưa ngồi ghế danh dự trong hội đường và phòng tiệc.

47Họ làm ra vẻ thánh thiện bằng cách đọc những bài cầu nguyện dài dòng, nhưng đồng thời lại cướp đoạt nhà cửa của những quả phụ cô đơn. Vì thế, họ sẽ bị trừng phạt nặng hơn!”

1And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

2And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

3And he answered and said unto them,I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

4The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

5And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

6But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

7And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

8And Jesus said unto them,Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

9Then began he to speak to the people this parable;A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

10And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

11And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

12And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

13Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

14But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

15So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

16He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others.And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

17And he beheld them, and said,What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

18Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

19¶ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

20And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

21And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

22Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?

23But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them,Why tempt ye me?

24Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it?They answered and said, Cæsar’s.

25And he said unto them,Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.

26And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

27¶ Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

28Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

29There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

30And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

31And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

32Last of all the woman died also.

33Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

34And Jesus answering said unto them,The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

35But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

36Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

37Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

38For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

39¶ Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

40And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

41And he said unto them,How say they that Christ is David’s son?

42And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

43Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

44David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

45¶ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

46Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

47Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
