Dénombrement des Israélites qui revinrent au pays de Juda

1Voici ceux de la province qui revinrent de l’exil, ceux que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, avait emmenés captifs à Babylone, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.

2Ils partirent avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Seraja, Reélaja, Mardochée, Bilschan, Mispar, Bigvaï, Rehum, Baana. Nombre des hommes du peuple d’Israël:

3les fils de Pareosch, deux mille cent soixante-douze;

4les fils de Schephathia, trois cent soixante-douze;

5les fils d’Arach, sept cent soixante-quinze;

6les fils de Pachath-Moab, des fils de Josué et de Joab, deux mille huit cent douze;

7les fils d’Élam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

8les fils de Zatthu, neuf cent quarante-cinq;

9les fils de Zaccaï, sept cent soixante;

10les fils de Bani, six cent quarante-deux;

11les fils de Bébaï, six cent vingt-trois;

12les fils d’Azgad, mille deux cent vingt-deux;

13les fils d’Adonikam, six cent soixante-six;

14les fils de Bigvaï, deux mille cinquante-six;

15les fils d’Adin, quatre cent cinquante-quatre;

16les fils d’Ather, de la famille d’Ézéchias, quatre-vingt-dix-huit;

17les fils de Betsaï, trois cent vingt-trois;

18les fils de Jora, cent douze;

19les fils de Haschum, deux cent vingt-trois;

20les fils de Guibbar, quatre-vingt-quinze;

21les fils de Bethléhem, cent vingt-trois;

22les gens de Nethopha, cinquante-six;

23les gens d’Anathoth, cent vingt-huit;

24les fils d’Azmaveth, quarante-deux;

25les fils de Kirjath-Arim, de Kephira et de Beéroth, sept cent quarante-trois;

26les fils de Rama et de Guéba, six cent vingt et un;

27les gens de Micmas, cent vingt-deux;

28les gens de Béthel et d’Aï, deux cent vingt-trois;

29les fils de Nebo, cinquante-deux;

30les fils de Magbisch, cent cinquante-six;

31les fils de l’autre Élam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

32les fils de Harim, trois cent vingt;

33les fils de Lod, de Hadid et d’Ono, sept cent vingt-cinq;

34les fils de Jéricho, trois cent quarante-cinq;

35les fils de Senaa, trois mille six cent trente.

36Sacrificateurs: les fils de Jedaeja, de la maison de Josué, neuf cent soixante-treize;

37les fils d’Immer, mille cinquante-deux;

38les fils de Paschhur, mille deux cent quarante-sept;

39les fils de Harim, mille dix-sept.

40Lévites: les fils de Josué et de Kadmiel, des fils d’Hodavia, soixante quatorze.

41Chantres: les fils d’Asaph, cent vingt-huit.

42Fils des portiers: les fils de Schallum, les fils d’Ather, les fils de Thalmon, les fils d’Akkub, les fils de Hathitha, les fils de Schobaï, en tout cent trente-neuf.

43Néthiniens: les fils de Tsicha, les fils de Hasupha, les fils de Thabbaoth,

44les fils de Kéros, les fils de Siaha, les fils de Padon,

45les fils de Lebana, les fils de Hagaba, les fils d’Akkub,

46les fils de Hagab, les fils de Schamlaï, les fils de Hanan,

47les fils de Guiddel, les fils de Gachar, les fils de Reaja,

48les fils de Retsin, les fils de Nekoda, les fils de Gazzam,

49les fils d’Uzza, les fils de Paséach, les fils de Bésaï,

50les fils d’Asna, les fils de Mehunim, les fils de Nephusim,

51les fils de Bakbuk, les fils de Hakupha, les fils de Harhur,

52les fils de Batsluth, les fils de Mehida, les fils de Harscha,

53les fils de Barkos, les fils de Sisera, les fils de Thamach,

54les fils de Netsiach, les fils de Hathipha.

55Fils des serviteurs de Salomon: les fils de Sothaï, les fils de Sophéreth, les fils de Peruda,

56les fils de Jaala, les fils de Darkon, les fils de Guiddel,

57les fils de Schephathia, les fils de Hatthil, les fils de Pokéreth-Hatsebaïm, les fils d’Ami.

58Total des Néthiniens et des fils des serviteurs de Salomon: trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.

59Voici ceux qui partirent de Thel-Mélach, de Thel-Harscha, de Kerub-Addan, et qui ne purent pas faire connaître leur maison paternelle et leur race, pour prouver qu’ils étaient d’Israël.

60Les fils de Delaja, les fils de Tobija, les fils de Nekoda, six cent cinquante-deux.

61Et parmi les fils des sacrificateurs: les fils de Habaja, les fils d’Hakkots, les fils de Barzillaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et fut appelé de leur nom.

62Ils cherchèrent leurs titres généalogiques, mais ils ne les trouvèrent point. On les exclut du sacerdoce,

63et le gouverneur leur dit de ne pas manger des choses très saintes jusqu’à ce qu’un sacrificateur ait consulté l’urim et le thummim.

64L’assemblée tout entière était de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante personnes,

65sans compter leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept. Parmi eux se trouvaient deux cents chantres et chanteuses.

66Ils avaient sept cent trente-six chevaux, deux cent quarante-cinq mulets,

67quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, et six mille sept cent vingt ânes.

68Plusieurs des chefs de famille, à leur arrivée vers la maison de l’Éternel à Jérusalem, firent des offrandes volontaires pour la maison de Dieu, afin qu’on la rétablît sur le lieu où elle avait été.

69Ils donnèrent au trésor de l’œuvre, selon leurs moyens, soixante et un mille dariques d’or, cinq mille mines d’argent, et cent tuniques sacerdotales.

70Les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, les gens du peuple, les chantres, les portiers et les Néthiniens s’établirent dans leurs villes. Tout Israël habita dans ses villes.

25The children of Kiriath Arim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty-three.

26The children of Ramah and Geba, six hundred and twenty-one.

27The men of Michmas, one hundred and twenty-two.

28The men of Bethel and Ai, two hundred and twenty-three.

29The children of Nebo, fifty-two.

30The children of Magbish, one hundred and fifty-six.

31The children of the other Elam, one thousand and two hundred and fifty-four.

32The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.

33The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred and twenty-five.

34The children of Jericho, three hundred and forty-five.

35The children of Senaah, three thousand and six hundred and thirty.

36The priests: the children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred and seventy-three.

37The children of Immer, one thousand and fifty-two.

38The children of Pashhur, one thousand and two hundred and forty-seven.

39The children of Harim, one thousand and seventeen.

40The Levites: the children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy-four.

41The singers: the children of Asaph, one hundred and twenty-eight.

42The children of the gatekeepers: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, in all one hundred and thirty-nine.

43The temple servants: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth,

44the children of Keros, the children of Siaha, the children of Padon,

45the children of Lebanah, the children of Hagabah, the children of Akkub,

46the children of Hagab, the children of Shamlai, the children of Hanan,

47the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar, the children of Reaiah,

48the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda, the children of Gazzam,

49the children of Uzza, the children of Paseah, the children of Besai,

50the children of Asnah, the children of Meunim, the children of Nephisim,

51the children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,

52the children of Bazluth, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,

53the children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Temah,

54the children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.

55The children of Solomon’s servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Hassophereth, the children of Peruda,

56the children of Jaalah, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,

57the children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth Hazzebaim, the children of Ami.

58All the temple servants, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred and ninety-two.

59These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses and their offspring,whether they were of Israel:

60the children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and fifty-two.

61Of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Hakkoz, and the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

62These sought their place amongst those who were registered by genealogy, but they were not found; therefore they were deemed disqualified and removed from the priesthood.

63The governor told them that they should not eat of the most holy things until a priest stood up to serve with Urim and with Thummim.

64The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand and three hundred and sixty,

65in addition to their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand and three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred singing men and singing women.

66Their horses were seven hundred and thirty-six; their mules, two hundred and forty-five;

67their camels, four hundred and thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand and seven hundred and twenty.

68Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they came to the LORD’s house which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for God’s house to set it up in its place.

69They gave according to their ability into the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand darics of gold,five thousand minasof silver, and one hundred priests’ garments.

70So the priests and the Levites, with some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
