1A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother.

2Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death.

3The Lord will not afflict the soul of the just with famine, and he will disappoint the deceitful practices of the wicked.

4The slothful hand hath wrought poverty: but the hand of the industrious getteth riches. He that trusteth to lies feedeth the winds: and the same runneth after birds that fly away.

5He that gathered in the harvest is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion.

6The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of the just: but iniquity covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7The memory of the just is with praises: and the name of the wicked shall rot.

8The wise of heart receiveth precepts: a fool is beaten with lips.

9He that walketh sincerely, walketh confidently: but he that perverteth his ways, shall be manifest.

10He that winketh with the eye shall cause sorrow: and the foolish in lips shall be beaten.

11The mouth of the just is a vein of life: and the mouth of the wicked covereth iniquity.

12Hatred stirreth up strifes: and charity covereth all sins.

13In the lips of the wise is wisdom found: and a rod on the back of him that wanteth sense.

14Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the fool is next to confusion.

15The substance of a rich man is the city of his strength: the fear of the poor is their poverty.

16The work of the just is unto life: but the fruit of the wicked, unto sin.

17The way of life, to him that observeth correction: but he that forsaketh reproofs goeth astray.

18Lying lips hide hatred: he that uttereth reproach is foolish.

19In the multitude of words there shall not want sin: but he that refraineth his lips is most wise.

20The tongue of the just is as choice silver: but the heart of the wicked is nothing worth.

21The lips of the just teach many: but they that are ignorant, shall die in the want of understanding.

22The blessing of the Lord maketh men rich: neither shall affliction be joined to them.

23A fool worketh mischief as it were for sport: but wisdom is prudence to a man.

24That which the wicked feareth, shall come upon him: to the just their desire shall be given.

25As a tempest that passeth, so the wicked shall be no more: but the just is as an everlasting foundation.

26As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that sent him.

27The fear of the Lord shall prolong days: and the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28The expectation of the just is joy; but the hope of the wicked shall perish.

29The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil.

30The just shall never be moved: but the wicked shall not dwell on the earth.

31The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom: the tongue of the perverse shall perish.

32The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things.

1Con trai khôn ngoan làm vui cha mình; Nhưng đứa ngu muội gây buồn cho mẹ nó.

2Của phi nghĩa chẳng được ích chi; Song sự công bình giải cứu khỏi chết.

3Đức Giê-hô-va không để linh hồn người công bình chịu đói khát; Nhưng Ngài xô đuổi sự ước ao của kẻ ác đi.

4Kẻ làm việc tay biếng nhác trở nên nghèo hèn; Còn tay kẻ siêng năng làm cho được giàu có.

5Ai thâu trữ trong mùa hè là con trai khôn ngoan; Song kẻ ngủ lúc mùa gặt là con trai gây cho sỉ nhục.

6Có phước lành giáng trên đầu kẻ công bình; Nhưng miệng kẻ ác giấu sự cường bạo.

7Kỷ niệm người công bình được khen ngợi; Song tên kẻ gian ác rục đi.

8Người có lòng khôn ngoan, nhận tiếp những điều răn; Nhưng kẻ có miệng ngu muội phải bị sa ngã.

9Người nào theo sự ngay thẳng đi vững chắc; Còn kẻ làm cong vẹo đường lối mình bị chúng biết.

10Kẻ nào nheo mắt làm cho ưu sầu; Còn ai có miệng ngu muội bị sa ngã.

11Miệng người công bình là một nguồn sự sống; Nhưng miệng kẻ hung ác giấu sự cường bạo.

12Sự ghen ghét xui điều cãi lộn; Song lòng thương yêu lấp hết các tội phạm.

13Trên môi miệng người thông sáng có sự khôn ngoan; Nhưng roi vọt dành cho lưng kẻ thiếu trí hiểu.

14Người khôn ngoan dành để sự tri thức; Nhưng tại cớ miệng kẻ ngu muội sự bại hoại hòng đến.

15Tài sản kẻ giàu có là cái thành kiên cố của người; Song sự hư nát của người khốn khổ là sự nghèo nàn của họ.

16Lao khổ của người công bình hướng về sự sống; Còn hoa lợi kẻ hung ác chiều về tội lỗi.

17Kẻ nghe lời khuyên dạy ở trong đường sự sống; Nhưng ai quên sự quở trách phải lầm lạc.

18Người giấu sự ghen ghét có môi dối giả; Và ai rải điều nói hành là kẻ ngu dại.

19Hễ lắm lời, vi phạm nào có thiếu; Nhưng ai cầm giữ miệng mình là khôn ngoan.

20Lưỡi người công bình giống như bạc cao; Còn lòng kẻ hung ác không ra gì.

21Môi miệng người công bình nuôi dạy nhiều người; Nhưng kẻ ngu dại chết, vì thiếu trí hiểu.

22Phước lành của Đức Giê-hô-va làm cho giàu có; Ngài chẳng thêm sự đau lòng gì lẫn vào.

23Kẻ thiếu trí hiểu coi sự làm ác như chơi; Nhưng người thông sáng thích sự khôn ngoan.

24Điều gì kẻ hung ác sợ sệt, ắt sẽ xảy đến cho nó; Nhưng kẻ công bình sẽ được như ý mình ước ao.

25Khi gió trốt thổi qua, kẻ hung ác không còn nữa; Song nền của người công bình còn đến đời đời.

26Như giấm ghê răng, như khói cay mắt, Kẻ làm biếng nhác đối với người sai khiến nó là vậy.

27Sự kính sợ Đức Giê-hô-va gia thêm ngày tháng; Còn năm tuổi kẻ ác sẽ bị giảm bớt đi.

28Sự trông mong của người công bình giáp sự vui vẻ; Còn sự trông đợi của kẻ ác sẽ hư mất đi.

29Con đường của Đức Giê-hô-va như một đồn lũy cho người ngay thẳng; Nhưng nó là sự bại hoại cho kẻ làm ác.

30Người công bình chẳng hề bị rúng động; Song kẻ ác không được ở trên đất.

31Miệng người công bình sanh sự khôn ngoan; Duy lưỡi của kẻ gian tà sẽ bị truất.

32Môi người công bình biết điều đẹp ý; Nhưng miệng kẻ hung ác chỉ nói sự gian tà.
