Genesis

1And these [are] births of Esau, who [is] Edom.

2Esau hath taken his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,

3and Bashemath daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebajoth.

4And Adah beareth to Esau, Eliphaz; and Bashemath hath born Reuel;

5and Aholibamah hath born Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. These [are] sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

6And Esau taketh his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance which he hath acquired in the land of Canaan, and goeth into the country from the face of Jacob his brother;

7for their substance was more abundant than to dwell together, and the land of their sojournings was not able to bear them because of their cattle;

8and Esau dwelleth in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

9And these [are] births of Esau, father of Edom, in mount Seir.

10These [are] the names of the sons of Esau: Eliphaz son of Adah, wife of Esau; Reuel son of Bashemath, wife of Esau.

11And the sons of Eliphaz are Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz;

12and Timnath hath been concubine to Eliphaz son of Esau, and she beareth to Eliphaz, Amalek; these [are] sons of Adah wife of Esau.

13And these [are] sons of Reuel: Nahath and Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah; these were sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.

14And these have been the sons of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, wife of Esau; and she beareth to Esau, Jeush and Jaalam and Korah.

15These [are] chiefs of the sons of Esau: sons of Eliphaz, first-born of Esau: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,

16chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek; these [are] chiefs of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Adah.

17And these [are] sons of Reuel son of Esau: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah; these [are] chiefs of Reuel, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.

18And these [are] sons of Aholibamah wife of Esau: chief Jeush, chief Jaalam, chief Korah; these [are] chiefs of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, wife of Esau.

19These [are] sons of Esau (who [is] Edom), and these their chiefs.

20These [are] sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

21and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan; these [are] chiefs of the Horites, sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.

22And the sons of Lotan are Hori and Heman; and a sister of Lotan [is] Timna.

23And these [are] sons of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

24And these [are] sons of Zibeon, both Ajah and Anah: it [is] Anah that hath found the Imim in the wilderness, in his feeding the asses of Zibeon his father.

25And these [are] sons of Anah: Dishon, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah.

26And these [are] sons of Dishon: Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

27These [are] sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.

28These [are] sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

29These [are] chiefs of the Horite: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah,

30chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan: these [are] chiefs of the Horite in reference to their chiefs in the land of Seir.

31And these [are] the kings who have reigned in the land of Edom before the reigning of a king over the sons of Israel.

32And Bela son of Beor reigneth in Edom, and the name of his city [is] Dinhabah;

33and Bela dieth, and reign in his stead doth Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah;

34and Jobab dieth, and reign in his stead doth Husham from the land of the Temanite.

35And Husham dieth, and reign in his stead doth Hadad son of Bedad (who smiteth Midian in the field of Moab), and the name of his city [is] Avith;

36and Hadad dieth, and reign in his stead doth Samlah of Masrekah;

37and Samlah dieth, and reign in his stead doth Saul from Rehoboth of the River;

38and Saul dieth, and reign in his stead doth Baal-hanan son of Achbor;

39and Baal-hanan son of Achbor dieth, and reign in his stead doth Hadar, and the name of his city [is] Pau; and his wife's name [is] Mehetabel daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-zahab.

40And these [are] the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families, according to their places, by their names: chief Timnah, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth,

41chief Aholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,

42chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,

43chief Magdiel, chief Iram: these [are] chiefs of Edom, in reference to their dwellings, in the land of their possession; he [is] Esau father of Edom.

2Ê-sau cưới các vợ trong bọn con gái xứ Ca-na-an, là A-đa, con gái Ê-lôn, người Hê-tít; Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, con gái A-na, cháu ngoại của Xi-bê-ôn, người Hê-vít,

3cùng Bách-mát, con gái ỗch-ma-ên, và là em gái của Nê-ba-giốt.

4A-đa sanh Ê-li-pha cho Ê-sau; Bách-mát sanh Rê-u-ên;

5còn Ô-hô-li-ba-ma sanh Giê-úc, Gia-lam và Cô-ra. Aáy đó là các con trai của Ê-sau sanh tại xứ Ca-na-an.

6Ê-sau dẫn các vợ, con trai, con gái mình, mọi người nhà, các bầy chiên, lục-súc, và tài vật mình đã gây dựng tại xứ Ca-na-an, dời qua xứ khác, cách xa Gia-cốp, em mình.

7Vả, vì cớ hai anh em của cải nhiều, bầy súc vật đông, xứ đang kiều ngụ không đủ đất dùng nữa, nên ở chung nhau chẳng được.

8Vậy, Ê-sau, tức là Ê-đôm, ở trên núi Sê-i-rơ.

9Đây là dòng dõi Ê-sau, tổ phụ dân Ê-đôm, ở trên núi Sê-i-rơ.

10Đây là tên các con trai Ê-sau: A-đa-vợ người, sanh Ê-li-pha; Bách-mát, cũng vợ người, sanh Rê-u-ên.

11Con trai của Ê-li-pha là Thê-ma, Ô-ma, Xê-phô, Ga-tham và Kê-na.

12Thim-na, vợ lẽ Ê-li-pha, con trai của Ê-sau, sanh A-ma-léc cho người. Đó là cháu của A-đa, vợ Ê-sau.

13Còn đây là con trai của Rê-u-ên: Na-hát, Xê-rách, Sam-ma và Mích-xa. Aáy là các cháu của Bách-mát, cũng vợ Ê-sau.

14Và mấy người nầy là con trai của Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, vợ của Ê-sau, con gái A-na, cháu ngoại Xi-bê-ôn. Nàng sanh cho Ê-sau Giê-úc, Gia-lam, và Cô-ra.

15Đây là các trưởng tộc trong vòng con cháu Ê-sau: Các con trai Ê-li-pha con trưởng nam của Ê-sau, là trưởng tộc Thê-man, trưởng tộc Ô-ma, trưởng tộc Xê-phô, trưởng tộc Kê-na,

16trưởng tộc Cô-ra, trưởng tộc Ga-tham, và trưởng tộc A-ma-léc. Đó là các trưởng tộc do nơi Ê-li-pha sanh tại xứ Ê-đôm, và là các cháu của A-đa.

17Đây là các con trai của Rê-u-ên, con Ê-sau: trưởng tộc Na-hát, trưởng tộc Xê-rách, trưởng tộc Sam-ma, và trưởng tộc Mích-xa. Đó là các trưởng tộc do nơi Rê-u-ên sanh ra tại xứ Ê-đôm, và là các cháu của Bách-mát.

18Đây là các con trai của Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, vợ Ê-sau: trưởng tộc Giê-úc, trưởng tộc Gia-lam, và trưởng tộc Cô-ra. Đó là mấy trưởng tộc do Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, vợ Ê-sau, con gái của A-na, sanh ra.

19Aáy là các con trai của Ê-sau, tức là Ê-đôm, và đó là mấy trưởng tộc của họ.

20Đây là các con trai của Sê-i-rơ, người Hô-rít, thuở xưa ở tại xứ đó: Lô-than, Sô-banh, Xi-bê-ôn, A-na,

21Đi-sôn, Eùt-xe, và Đi-san. Đó là mấy con trai của Sê-i-rơ, trưởng tộc dân Hô-rít, ở tại xứ Ê-đôm.

22Các con trai của Lô-than là Hô-ri và Hê-man; còn Thim-na là em gái Lô-than.

23Đây là các con trai của Sô-banh: Anh-van, Ma-na-hát, Ê-banh, Sê-phô, và Ô-nam.

24Đây là các con trai của Xi-bê-ôn: Ai-gia và A-na. Aáy là A-na có tìm đặng suối nước sôi nơi đồng vắng, trong khi chăn lừa cho Xi-bê-ôn, cha nàng.

25Đây là con cái của A-na: Đi-sôn và Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, con gái người.

26Đây là con trai của Đi-sôn: Hem-đan, Eách-ban, Dít-ran và Kê-ran.

27Đây là con trai của Eùt-xe: Binh-han, Xa-van và A-can.

28Đây là con trai của Đi-san: Uùt-sơ và A-ran.

29Còn đây là các trưởng tộc dân Hô-rít: trưởng tộc Lô-than, trưởng tộc Sô-banh, trưởng tộc Xi-bê-ôn, trưởng tộc A-na,

30trưởng tộc Đi-sôn, trưởng tộc Eùt-xe, và trưởng tộc Đi-san. Đó là các trưởng tộc của dân Hô-rít, ở tại xứ Sê-i-rơ.

31Trước khi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên chưa có một vua nào cai trị, thì đây là các vua trị vì xứ Ê-đôm;

32Bê-la, con trai Bê-ô, trì vì xứ Ê-đôm; tên thành người là Đin-ha-ba.

33Vua Bê-la băng, Giô-báp, con trai Xê-rách, người Bốt-ra, lên kế vị.

34Vua Giô-báp băng, Hu-sam, người xứ Thê-man, lên kế vị.

35Vua Hu-sam băng, Ha-đát, con trai Bê-đát, lên kế vị. Aáy là vua nầy đánh thắng dân Ma-đi-an tại đồng Mô-áp; và tên thành người là A-vít.

36Vua Ha-đát băng, Sam-la, người Ma-rê-ca lên kế vị.

37Vua Sam-la băng, Sau-lơ, người Rê-hô-bốt ở trên mé sông, lên kế vị.

38Vua Sau-lơ băng, Ba-anh-Ha-nan, con trai Aïc-bồ, lên kế vị.

39vua Ba-anh-Ha-nan băng, Ha-đa lên kế vị. Tên thành người là Ba-u; vợ người là Mê-hê-ta-bê-ên, con gái của Mát-rết, cháu ngoại Mê-xa-háp.

40Đây là các trưởng tộc do nơi Ê-sau sanh ra, kể theo chi tộc, địa hạt và tên mình: trưởng tộc Thim-na, trưởng tộc Anh-va, trưởng tộc Giê-hết,

41trưởng tộc Ô-hô-li-ba-ma, trưởng tộc Ê-la, trưởng tộc Phi-nôn,

42trưởng tộc Kê-na, trưởng tộc Thê-man, trưởng tộc Mép-xa,

43trưởng tộc Mác-đi-ên và trưởng tộc Y-ram. Đó là các trưởng tộc của Ê-đôm, tùy theo nhà ở trong xứ của họ. Tổ phụ của dân Ê-đôm là Ê-sau.
