Ezra

1Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

2And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

3In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

4With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house:

5And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.

6Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:

7Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

8Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

9And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:

10That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

11Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

12And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

13¶ Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.

14And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16¶ And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,

17And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

19And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.

20For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

22And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

1Bấy giờ, vua Đa-ri-ô ra lệnh cho tìm kiếm trong kho tàng, nơi trữ các văn thư ở Ba-by-lon.

2“Bản ghi nhớ.

3Nhà sẽ được tái thiết làm nơi dâng các hy lễ, và nền móng cũ sẽ được duy trì. Chiều cao của Nhà sẽ là ba mươi thước, chiều rộng ba mươi thước.

4Sẽ có ba lớp đá đẽo và một lớp gỗ. Nhà vua sẽ lấy quỹ của triều đình đài thọ các chi phí.

5Hơn nữa, những đồ vàng đồ bạc thuộc Nhà Thiên Chúa, mà vua Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo đã lấy ra khỏi đền thờ Giê-ru-sa-lem và đưa về Ba-by-lon, sẽ được trả lại, để các đồ vật ấy trở về chỗ cũ trong đền thờ Giê-ru-sa-lem và được đặt trong Nhà Thiên Chúa.”

6“Vậy bây giờ, Tát-nai, trưởng Vùng bên kia sông Êu-phơ-rát, Sơ-tha Bốt-nai và các đồng liêu, các khâm sai Vùng bên kia sông Êu-phơ-rát, các ngươi hãy rời xa nơi đó.

7Hãy để cho tổng trấn của người Do-thái và các kỳ mục Do-thái lo việc xây cất Nhà Thiên Chúa, họ phải tái thiết Nhà Thiên Chúa ở chỗ cũ.

8Đây là lệnh ta ban cho các ngươi về cách đối xử với hàng kỳ mục Do-thái trong việc tái thiết Nhà Thiên Chúa : phải lấy tiền bạc của nhà vua trích từ thuế thu được ở Vùng bên kia sông Êu-phơ-rát, mà cung cấp đầy đủ các chi phí cho những người đó, không được gián đoạn.

9Theo lời chỉ dẫn của các tư tế Giê-ru-sa-lem, những gì cần cho lễ toàn thiêu kính Thiên Chúa, Chúa các tầng trời : bò tơ, chiên cừu, lúa miến, muối, rượu và dầu, ngày ngày sẽ được cung cấp cho họ, không được chểnh mảng,

10để họ dâng lên Thiên Chúa, Chúa các tầng trời, các hy lễ làm đẹp lòng Người, và cầu cho nhà vua và các hoàng tử được trường thọ.

11Ta còn ra lệnh : Bất kỳ ai vi phạm sắc chỉ này, thì phải dỡ xà gỗ nhà nó, làm cột đóng xuyên qua người nó mà dựng lên ; và vì lý do ấy, hãy biến nhà nó thành đống phân dơ.

12Chớ gì Thiên Chúa, Đấng đã đặt Danh Người ngự tại đó, lật đổ bất cứ vua hay dân nào dám vi phạm sắc chỉ này mà tra tay phá huỷ Nhà Thiên Chúa ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Chính ta, Đa-ri-ô, đã ban lệnh này. Sắc chỉ phải được thi hành chu đáo !”

13Bấy giờ, ông Tát-nai, trưởng Vùng bên kia sông Êu-phơ-rát, ông Sơ-tha Bốt-nai và các đồng liêu thi hành chu đáo các chỉ thị vua Đa-ri-ô gửi đến.

14Hàng kỳ mục Do-thái tiếp tục xây cất và thành công trong việc đó, theo lời sấm của ngôn sứ Khác-gai và của ông Da-ca-ri-a con ông Ít-đô. Họ hoàn thành công việc xây cất đúng theo lệnh của Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en và lệnh của vua Ky-rô, vua Đa-ri-ô, và vua Ác-tắc-sát-ta vua Ba-tư.

15Nhà đó được xây xong ngày mồng ba tháng A-đa, năm thứ sáu triều vua Đa-ri-ô.

16Con cái Ít-ra-en, các tư tế, các thầy Lê-vi và những người lưu đày trở về, hân hoan cử hành lễ khánh thành Nhà Thiên Chúa.

17Để khánh thành Nhà Thiên Chúa, họ đã dâng một trăm con bò, hai trăm con cừu đực, bốn trăm con chiên, và bắt mười hai con dê đực, theo số các chi tộc Ít-ra-en, làm lễ tạ tội cho toàn thể Ít-ra-en.

18Họ thiết lập hàng tư tế theo các phẩm trật của họ, và các thầy Lê-vi theo các cấp bậc của họ, để phục vụ Thiên Chúa tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, như đã chép trong sách Mô-sê.

19Những người đi đày trở về cử hành lễ Vượt Qua ngày mười bốn tháng thứ nhất.

20Các thầy Lê-vi, trăm người như một, đã thanh tẩy mình : tất cả đều thanh sạch, nên họ đã sát tế chiên Vượt Qua cho những người đi đày trở về, cho anh em của họ là các tư tế, và cho chính họ.

21Con cái Ít-ra-en đi đày trở về đã ăn mừng lễ Vượt Qua, cùng với những người đã dứt bỏ những điều ô uế của các dân trong xứ, để hợp với họ tìm kiếm ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của Ít-ra-en.

22Họ hân hoan cử hành lễ Bánh Không Men trong bảy ngày, vì ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho họ được hân hoan khi làm cho lòng vua Át-sua nghiêng về phía họ, để họ vững tay xây Nhà Thiên Chúa, Thiên Chúa của Ít-ra-en.
