Job

1Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:

2Therefore various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind is hurried away to different things.

3The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me.

4This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth,

5That the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.

6If his pride mount up even to heaven, and his head touch the clouds:

7In the end he shall be destroyed like a dunghill, and they that has seen him shall say: Where is he?

8As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found, he shall pass as a vision of the night:

9The eyes that had seen him, shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more behold him.

10His children shall be oppressed with want, and his hands shall render him his sorrow.

11His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth, and they shall sleep with him in the dust.

12For when evil shall be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue.

13He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat.

14His bread in his belly shall be turned into the gall of asps within him.

15The riches which he hath swallowed; he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly.

16He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper’s tongue shall kill him.

17(Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.)

18He shall be punished for all that he did, and yet shall not be consumed: according to the multitude of his devices so also shall he suffer.

19Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.

20And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.

21There was nothing left of his meat, and therefore nothing shall continue of his goods:

22When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened, he shall burn, and every sorrow shall fall upon him.

23May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.

24He shall flee from weapons of iron, and shall fall upon a bow of brass.

25The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him.

26All darkness is hid in his secret places: a fire that is not kindled shall devour him, he shall be afflicted when left in his tabernacle.

27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.

28The offspring of his house shall be exposed, he shall be pulled down in the day of God’s wrath.

29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.

1Xô-pha, người Na-a-ma, bèn đáp rằng:

2Vì cớ ấy tư tưởng tôi chỉ dạy cho tôi lời đáp, Và tại lời đó, tâm thần tôi bị cảm động trong mình tôi.

3Tôi đã nghe lời trách móc làm hổ thẹn tôi; Trí khôn tôi lấy sự thông minh mà đáp lời.

4Hãy biết rõ rằng, từ đời xưa, Từ khi loài người được đặt nơi thế gian,

5Thì sự thắng hơn của kẻ ác không có lâu, Và sự vui mừng của kẻ vô đạo chỉ một lúc mà thôi.

6Dầu sự kiêu căng nó cất lên đến tận trời, Dầu cho đầu nó đụng chí mây,

7Thì nó sẽ bị tiêu diệt đời đời như phân bón nó; Những người đã thấy nó sẽ hỏi rằng: Nó ở đâu?

8Nó bay đi như một cơn chiêm bao, không ai gặp nó lại; Thật, nó sẽ biết mất như dị tượng ban đêm.

9Con mắt đã thường xem nó, sẽ không thấy nó lại, Nơi nó ở cũng sẽ chẳng còn nhìn nó nữa.

10Con cái nó sẽ cầu ơn kẻ nghèo, Và tay nó sẽ thường lại tài sản mà sự hung bạo nó đã cướp giựt.

11Tứ chi nó đầy sức lực của buổi đang thì; Nhưng sẽ nằm chung với nó trong bụi đất;

12Dẫu sự ác lấy làm ngọt ngào cho miệng nó, Dẫu ẩn dưới lưỡi hắn,

13Dẫu hắn tríu mến sự ác, không từ bỏ nó, Nhưng giữ nó lại trong miệng mình,

14Thì vật thực nó sẽ biến nơi can tràng, Và thành ra mật rắn hổ trong bụng nó.

15Nó có nuốt của cải, rồi lại mửa ra; Đức chúa Trời sẽ tống của ấy ra khỏi bụng nó.

16Nó sẽ mút nọc rắn hổ; Lưỡi của rắn lục sẽ giết nó.

17Nó sẽ chẳng thấy sông và dòng chảy mật cùng mỡ sữa ra.

18Nó phải trả hoa lợi về công việc mình, không được nuốt nó; Phải thường lại tùy theo giá nó, Không được hưởng của ấy.

19Vì nó có hà hiếp, bỏ bê kẻ nghèo, Cướp lấy nhà cửa, mà nó không có xây cất.

20Bởi vì nó không biết an tịnh trong mình, Nó sẽ chẳng được bảo thủ gì về các điều mình ưa thích hơn hết.

21Chẳng chi thoát khỏi sự mê ăn của nó; Cho nên sự may mắn nó chẳng bền lâu.

22Đang khi dư dật, nó sẽ bị cùng túng; Các người khốn khổ sẽ tra tay vào mình nó.

23Đức Chúa Trời sẽ sai thạnh nộ Ngài hãm mình nó, Đặng làm cho lòng nó đầy dẫy, Ngài sẽ giáng cơn giận Ngài trên mình nó, chính trong lúc nó ăn bữa.

24Nó sẽ trốn lánh khỏi khí giới sắt, Còn cây cung đồng sẽ xoi lũng nó.

25Nó nhổ tên ra khỏi thân nó, Mũi gươm bóng ngời rút ra khỏi gan nó; Các sự kinh khiếp hãm áp nó.

26Cả sự tối tăm đã dành làm bửu vật cho nó; Lửa người ta không thổi sẽ thiêu đốt nó, Và kẻ còn sót lại trong trại nó sẽ bị tiêu diệt đi.

27Các từng trời sẽ bày tỏ gian ác nó ra, Và đất sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng nó.

28Hoa lợi của nhà nó sẽ bị đem đi mất, Tài sản nó sẽ bị trôi đi trong ngày thạnh nộ của Chúa.

29Đó là phần mà Đức Chúa Trời dành cho kẻ hung ác, Và ấy là cơ nghiệp mà Ngài định cho nó.
