Jeremiah

1And it came to pass in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Sedecias king of Juda, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananias the son of Azur, a prophet of Gabaon spoke to me, in the house of the Lord before the priests, and all the people, saying:

2Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

3As yet two years of days, and I will cause all the vessels of the house of the Lord to be brought back into this place, which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon.

4And I will bring back to this place Jechonias the son of Joakim king of Juda, and all the captives of Juda, that are gone to Babylon, saith the Lord: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

5And Jeremias the prophet said to Hananias the prophet in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the Lord:

6And Jeremias the prophet said: Amen, the Lord do so: the Lord perform thy words, which thou hast prophesied: that the vessels may be brought again into the house of the Lord, and all the captives may return out of Babylon to this place.

7Nevertheless hear this word that I speak in thy ears, and in the ears of all the people:

8The prophets that have been before me, and before thee from the beginning, and have prophesied concerning many countries, and concerning great kingdoms, of war, and of affliction, and of famine.

9The prophet that prophesied peace when his word shall come to pass, the prophet shall be known, whom the Lord hath sent in truth.

10And Hananias the prophet took the chain from the neck of Jeremias the prophet, and broke it.

11And Hananias spoke in the presence of all the people, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Even so will I break the yoke of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon after two full years from off the neck of all the nations.

12And Jeremias the prophet went his way. And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, after that Hananias the prophet had broken the chain from off the neck of Jeremias the prophet, saying:

13Go, and tell Hananias: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast broken chains of wood, and thou shalt make for them chains of iron.

14For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, to serve Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and they shall serve him: moreover also I have given him the beasts of the earth.

15And Jeremias the prophet said to Hananias the prophet: Hear now, Hananias: the Lord hath not sent thee, and thou hast made this people to trust in a lie.

16Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year shalt thou die: for thou hast spoken against the Lord.

17And Hananias the prophet died in that year, in the seventh month.

1Cũng năm ấy, vào đầu triều Xít-ki-gia-hu, vua Giu-đa, hồi tháng năm, năm thứ tư, ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia, con ông Át-dua, người Ghíp-ôn, nói với tôi trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, trước mặt các tư tế và toàn dân rằng :

2“ĐỨC CHÚA các đạo binh, Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en, phán như sau : Ta sẽ bẻ gãy ách của vua Ba-by-lon.

3Còn hai năm nữa, Ta sẽ đem về nơi này mọi đồ dùng trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, mà Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, vua Ba-by-lon, đã lấy ra khỏi nơi này đưa sang Ba-by-lon.

4Cả Giơ-khon-gia, con của Giơ-hô-gia-kim, vua Giu-đa và tất cả những người Giu-đa bị lưu đày sang Ba-by-lon, chính Ta sẽ dẫn chúng về nơi đây, –sấm ngôn của ĐỨC CHÚA–, vì Ta bẻ gãy ách của vua Ba-by-lon !”

5Bấy giờ ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a trả lời ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia trước mặt các tư tế và toàn dân đang đứng trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA.

6Ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a nói : “A-men ! Ước gì ĐỨC CHÚA làm như thế ! Ước gì Người thực hiện các điều ông vừa tuyên sấm, và đưa các đồ dùng trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA cũng như tất cả những người lưu đày từ Ba-by-lon trở lại nơi này.

7Nhưng xin ông lưu ý đến lời tôi sắp nói cho ông và cho toàn dân nghe đây :

8Các ngôn sứ có trước tôi và ông từ ngàn xưa đã tuyên sấm về nhiều xứ sở và vương quốc hùng mạnh, là sẽ có chiến tranh, tai ương và ôn dịch ;

9còn ngôn sứ nào tuyên sấm có bình an, thì chỉ khi nào lời ngôn sứ ấy ứng nghiệm, ông mới được nhìn nhận là ngôn sứ ĐỨC CHÚA sai đến thật sự !”

10Bấy giờ ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia tháo cái gông ra khỏi cổ ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a và bẻ gãy.

11Rồi ông Kha-nan-gia nói trước mặt toàn dân rằng : “ĐỨC CHÚA phán như sau : Cũng giống như thế, hai năm nữa, Ta sẽ bẻ gãy cái ách của Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, vua Ba-by-lon, không còn để nó đè trên cổ mọi dân tộc.” Sau đó ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a bỏ đi.

12Nhưng, sau khi ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia bẻ gãy cái gông mà ông đã tháo ra khỏi cổ ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a, có lời ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Giê-rê-mi-a rằng :

13“Hãy đi nói với Kha-nan-gia : ĐỨC CHÚA phán như sau : Ngươi đã bẻ gãy những cái gông bằng gỗ, thì hãy làm những cái gông bằng sắt thế vào !

14Quả thật, ĐỨC CHÚA các đạo binh, Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en, phán như sau : Ta sẽ quàng một cái ách bằng sắt vào cổ tất cả các dân tộc này, khiến chúng phải làm tôi Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, vua Ba-by-lon, và chúng sẽ làm tôi nó. Ngay cả những giống vật ngoài đồng, Ta cũng trao cho nó.”

15Khi ấy, ngôn sứ Giê-rê-mi-a nói với ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia : “Ông Kha-nan-gia, hãy nghe đây, ĐỨC CHÚA chẳng hề sai ông, thế mà ông lại làm cho dân này tin vào điều dối trá.

16Bởi thế, ĐỨC CHÚA phán như sau : Này, Ta sẽ bứng ngươi ra khỏi mặt đất : Ngay năm nay, ngươi sẽ phải chết vì ngươi đã hô hào nổi loạn chống ĐỨC CHÚA.”

17Ngôn sứ Kha-nan-gia đã chết vào tháng bảy năm ấy.
