1 Kings

1And it came to pass when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all that he desired, and was pleased to do,

2That the Lord appeared to him the second time, as he had appeared to him in Gabaon.

3And the Lord said to him: I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, which thou hast made before me: I have sanctified this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever, and my eyes and my heart shall be there always.

4And if thou wilt walk before me, as thy father walked, in simplicity of heart, and in uprightness: and wilt do all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my ordinances and my judgments,

5I will establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, as I promised David thy father, saying: There shall not fail a man of thy race upon the throne of Israel.

6But if you and your children revolting shall turn away from following me, and will not keep my commandments, and my ceremonies, which I have set before you, but will go and worship strange gods, and adore them:

7I will take away Israel from the face of the land which I have given them; and the temple which I have sanctified to my name, I will cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb, and a byword among all people.

8And this house shall be made an example of: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and shall hiss, and say: Why hath the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house:

9And they shall answer: Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and followed strange gods, and adored them, and worshipped them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.

10And when twenty years were ended after Solomon had built the two houses, that is, the house of the Lord, and the house of the king,

11(Hiram the king of Tyre furnishing Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and gold according to all he had need of.) then Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12And Hiram came out of Tyre, to see the towns which Solomon had given him, and they pleased him not,

13And he said: Are these the cities which thou hast given me, brother? And he called them the land of Chabul, unto this day.

14And Hiram sent to king Solomon a hundred and twenty talents of gold.

15This is the sum of the expenses, which king Solomon offered to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Mello, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Heser, and Mageddo, and Gazer.

16Pharao the king of Egypt came up and took Gazer, and burnt it with fire: and slew the Chanaanite that dwelt in the city, and gave it for a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

17So Solomon built: Gazer, and Beth-horon the nether,

18And Baalath, and Palmira in the land of the wilderness.

19And all the towns that belonged to himself, and were not walled, he fortified, the cities also of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and whatsoever he had a mind to build in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all the land of his dominion.

20All the people that were left of the Amorrhites, and Hethites, and Pherezites, and Hevites, and Jebusites, that are not of the children of Israel:

21Their children, that were left in the land, to wit, such as the children of Israel had not been able to destroy, Solomon made tributary unto this day.

22But of the children of Israel Solomon made not any to be bondmen, but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and captains, and overseers of the chariots and horses.

23And there were five hundred and fifty chief officers set over all the works of Solomon, and they had people under them, and had charge over the appointed works.

24And the daughter of Pharao came up out of the city of David to her house, which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Mello.

25Solomon also offered three times every year holocausts, and victims of peace offerings upon the altar which he had built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord: and the temple was finished.

26And king Solomon made a fleet in Asiongaber, which is by Ailath on the shore of the Red Sea in the land of Edom.

27And Hiram sent his servants in the fleet, sailors that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

28And they came to Ophir, and they brought from thence to king Solomon four hundred and twenty talents of gold.

1Sau khi vua Sa-lô-môn hoàn tất việc xây Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA và cung điện nhà vua, cùng mọi công trình vua dự tính,

2thì ĐỨC CHÚA lại hiện ra với vua lần thứ hai, giống y như lần hiện ra với vua ở Ghíp-ôn.

3ĐỨC CHÚA phán với vua : “Ta đã nghe lời ngươi cầu nguyện và van nài trước nhan Ta ; Ta đã thánh hoá ngôi nhà này mà ngươi đã xây để cho Danh Ta ngự ở đó muôn đời ; Ta sẽ nhìn xem và ưa thích ở đấy mọi ngày.

4Còn ngươi, nếu ngươi bước đi trước nhan Ta, như Đa-vít thân phụ ngươi, với tâm hồn trong sạch và ngay thẳng, mà thi hành mọi điều Ta truyền cho ngươi và tuân giữ các giới răn và luật pháp của Ta,

5thì Ta sẽ củng cố ngai vàng của ngươi trên Ít-ra-en đến muôn đời, như Ta đã hứa với Đa-vít, thân phụ ngươi, rằng : ‘Ngươi sẽ không thiếu người ngự trên ngai Ít-ra-en.’

6Nhưng nếu các ngươi và con cháu các ngươi tráo trở bỏ đường lối của Ta, không giữ các mệnh lệnh, các giới răn Ta đã đặt cho các ngươi, lại đi làm tôi các thần ngoại và thờ lạy chúng,

7thì Ta sẽ tiêu diệt Ít-ra-en khỏi phần đất mà Ta đã ban cho chúng ; còn Đền Thờ Ta đã thánh hoá để kính Danh Ta, Ta sẽ loại trừ khỏi nhan Ta, và Ít-ra-en sẽ thành bia miệng cho mọi dân tộc đàm tiếu ;

8Đền Thờ này sẽ thành đống hoang tàn, khiến mọi kẻ qua lại phải sững sờ, huýt sáo mà nói : ‘Tại sao ĐỨC CHÚA đã xử như thế với đất nước và Đền Thờ này ?’

9Người ta sẽ trả lời : ‘Tại chúng đã bỏ ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của chúng, Đấng đã đưa tổ tiên chúng ra khỏi đất Ai-cập ; chúng đã gắn bó với các thần ngoại, sụp lạy và làm tôi các thần ấy, nên ĐỨC CHÚA đã giáng xuống trên chúng tất cả tai hoạ này.’”

10Trong hai mươi năm vua Sa-lô-môn xây hai ngôi nhà, là Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA và cung điện nhà vua,

11thì Khi-ram vua Tia cung cấp cho vua Sa-lô-môn gỗ bá hương, gỗ trắc và vàng tuỳ thích ; còn vua Sa-lô-môn thì trao cho vua Khi-ram hai mươi thành trong miền Ga-li-lê.

12Từ Tia vua Khi-ram đi ra xem các thành vua Sa-lô-môn đã trao cho, nhưng vua không thích các thành ấy.

13Vua nói : “Này ông anh, thành gì mà ông cho tôi vậy ?” Rồi vua gọi các thành ấy là “đất Ca-vun” cho tới ngày nay.

14Vua Khi-ram gửi tới cho vua Sa-lô-môn ba ngàn sáu trăm ký vàng.

15Đây là dịch vụ dân công vua Sa-lô-môn đã đặt ra để xây Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA, cung điện của mình, công trình Mi-lô, tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, Kha-xo, Mơ-ghít-đô và Ghe-de.

16Pha-ra-ô vua Ai-cập đã tiến quân chiếm Ghe-de, thiêu huỷ thành và sát hại dân Ca-na-an cư ngụ ở đó, rồi vua tặng làm của hồi môn cho ái nữ là phu nhân của vua Sa-lô-môn.

17Vua Sa-lô-môn xây dựng lại Ghe-de và Bết Khô-rôn Hạ,

18rồi Ba-a-lát và Ta-ma ở sa mạc, trong xứ,

19và tất cả các thành làm kho dự trữ mà vua Sa-lô-môn sẵn có, các thành giữ xe trận, các thành nuôi ngựa và tất cả những gì vua Sa-lô-môn muốn xây cất ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, ở Li-băng và trong toàn lãnh thổ thuộc quyền vua.

20Tất cả những người còn sót lại thuộc các dân E-mô-ri, Khết, Pơ-rít-di, Khi-vi và Giơ-vút, những người không phải là con cái Ít-ra-en,

21những người này đã để lại con cháu chúng trong xứ, vì con cái Ít-ra-en không tiêu diệt hết được. Vua Sa-lô-môn bắt tất cả những người đó phải lao động khổ sai đến ngày nay.

22Phần con cái Ít-ra-en, vua Sa-lô-môn không bắt ai phải làm nô dịch cho vua ; họ là những chiến sĩ, những cận thần, những tướng lãnh, những viên chức, những người chỉ huy chiến xa và kỵ binh của vua.

23Họ chỉ huy các đốc công phụ trách công trình của vua Sa-lô-môn, tất cả là năm trăm năm mươi người, giám sát dân chúng làm việc trong các công trình.

24Khi công chúa của Pha-ra-ô từ Thành Đa-vít lên cung điện đã xây cho bà, thì vua Sa-lô-môn bắt đầu xây công trình Mi-lô.

25Mỗi năm ba lần, vua Sa-lô-môn dâng lễ toàn thiêu và lễ kỳ an trên bàn thờ vua đã dựng lên để kính ĐỨC CHÚA ; vua thường đốt hương trên bàn thờ trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA. Thế là vua chu toàn bổn phận đối với Đền Thờ.

26Ngoài ra, vua Sa-lô-môn còn trang bị một đoàn tàu tại E-xi-ôn Ghe-ve, gần Ê-lát, bên bờ Biển Sậy trong đất Ê-đôm.

27Vua Khi-ram phái tới đoàn tàu các tôi tớ của mình là những thuỷ thủ thạo nghề biển, cùng với các tôi tớ của vua Sa-lô-môn.

28Họ đi Ô-phia, mang vàng về và nộp cho vua Sa-lô-môn, tất cả là mười hai tấn.
