1And king David said to all the assembly: Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is as yet young and tender: and the work is great, for a house is prepared not for man, but for God.

2And I with all my ability have prepared the expenses for the house of my God. Gold for vessels of gold, and silver for vessels of silver, brass for things of brass, iron for things of iron, wood for things of wood: and onyx stones, and stones like alabaster, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble of Paros in great abundance.

3Now over and above the things which I have offered into the house of my God I give of my own proper goods, gold and silver for the temple of my God, beside what things I have prepared for the holy house.

4Three thousand talents of gold of the gold of Ophir: and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the temple.

5And gold for wheresoever there is need of gold: and silver for wheresoever there is need of silver, for the works to be made by the hands of the artificers: now if any man is willing to offer, let him fill his hand today, and offer what he pleaseth to the Lord.

6Then the heads of the families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and the overseers of the king’s possessions promised,

7And they gave for the works of the house of the Lord, of gold, five thousand talents, and ten thousand solids: of silver ten thousand talents: and of brass eighteen thousand talents: and of iron a hundred thousand talents.

8And all they that had stones, gave them to the treasures of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jahiel the Gersonite.

9And the people rejoiced, when they promised their offerings willingly: because they offered them to the Lord with all their heart: and David the king rejoiced also with a great joy.

10And he blessed the Lord before all the multitude, and he said: Blessed art thou, O Lord the God of Israel, our father from eternity to eternity.

11Thine, O Lord, is magnificence, and power, and glory, and victory: and to thee is praise: for all that is in heaven, and in earth, is thine: thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art above all princes.

12Thine are riches, and thine is glory, thou hast dominion over all, in thy hand is power and might: in thy hand greatness, and the empire of all things.

13Now therefore our God we give thanks to thee, and we praise thy glorious name.

14Who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to promise thee all these things? all things are thine: and we have given thee what we received of thy hand.

15For we are sojourners before thee, and strangers, as were all our fathers. Our days upon earth are as a shadow, and there is no stay.

16O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thy holy name, is from thy hand, and all things are thine.

17I know my God that thou provest hearts, and lovest simplicity, wherefore I also in the simplicity of my heart, have joyfully offered all these things: and I have seen with great joy thy people, which are here present, offer thee their offerings.

18O Lord God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Israel our fathers, keep for ever this will of their heart, and let this mind remain always for the worship of thee.

19And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, that he may keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy ceremonies, and do all things: and build the house, for which I have provided the charges.

20And David commanded all the assembly: Bless ye the Lord our God. And all the assembly blessed the Lord the God of their fathers: and they bowed themselves and worshipped God, and then the king.

21And they sacrificed victims to the Lord: and they offered holocausts the next day, a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their libations, and with every thing prescribed most abundantly for all Israel.

22And they ate, and drank before the Lord that day with great joy. And they anointed the second time Solomon the son of David. And they anointed him to the Lord to be prince, and Sadoc to be high priest.

23And Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and he pleased all: and all Israel obeyed him.

24And all the princes, and men of power, and all the sons of king David gave their hand, and were subject to Solomon the king.

25And the Lord magnified Solomon over all Israel: and gave him the glory of a reign, such as no king of Israel had before him.

26So David the son of Isai reigned over all Israel.

27And the days that he reigned over Israel, were forty years: in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem three and thirty years.

28And he died in a good age, full of days, and riches, and glory. And Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

29Now the acts of king David first and last are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer:

30And of all his reign, and his valour, and of the times that passed under him, either in Israel, or in all the kingdoms of the countries.

1Vua Đa-vít nói với toàn thể đại hội : “Sa-lô-môn con ta, người độc nhất được Thiên Chúa chọn, hãy còn trẻ người non dạ, mà công việc thì lớn lao, vì ngôi nhà không phải dành cho một người phàm nào, nhưng là để dâng kính ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa.

2Vì thế ta đã hết sức chuẩn bị cho Nhà Thiên Chúa của ta có vàng để làm các đồ phải bằng vàng, bạc để làm các đồ phải bằng bạc, đồng để làm các đồ phải bằng đồng, sắt để làm các đồ phải bằng sắt, gỗ để làm các đồ phải bằng gỗ, mã não và ngọc quý, vân thạch nhiều màu sắc, với đủ loại đá quý và rất nhiều cẩm thạch.

3Hơn nữa, vì mộ mến Nhà Thiên Chúa của ta, ngoài những gì ta đã chuẩn bị sẵn cho thánh điện, ta dâng hiến cho Nhà Thiên Chúa số vàng bạc của riêng ta, gồm :

4chín mươi tấn vàng và là vàng Ô-phia, hai trăm mười tấn bạc tinh luyện, để dát tường Đền Thờ.

5Còn vàng để làm các đồ phải bằng vàng, bạc để làm các đồ phải bằng bạc và để làm mọi công việc mỹ thuật, thì trong các ngươi, ai là người sẵn sàng rộng tay hiến dâng lên ĐỨC CHÚA hôm nay ?”

6Bấy giờ các trưởng tộc, các thủ lãnh chi họ Ít-ra-en, các tướng chỉ huy một ngàn và một trăm quân, và các người đứng đầu trông coi việc nhà vua, tất cả đều tỏ ra nhiệt tình.

7Họ dâng cúng vào công cuộc phục vụ Nhà Thiên Chúa : một trăm năm mươi tấn vàng, mười ngàn đồng Đa-ri-ô, ba trăm tấn bạc, năm trăm bốn mươi tấn đồng, và ba ngàn tấn sắt.

8Ai có đá quý thì cúng vào kho Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA do ông Giơ-khi-ên người họ Ghéc-sôn đảm trách.

9Dân chúng vui mừng vì đã tự nguyện dâng các của lễ ấy. Quả họ đã dâng kính ĐỨC CHÚA với cả tấm lòng thành ; chính vua Đa-vít cũng vui mừng khôn tả.

10từ muôn thuở đến muôn ngàn đời.

11và địa vị tối cao, vượt trên tất cả.

12nhờ tay Ngài, tất cả lớn lên và mạnh sức.

13và ca tụng Danh Thánh hiển vinh.

14Quả thật, con là ai và dân của con là gì, mà chúng con cả lòng tự ý dâng hiến như vậy, vì mọi sự chúng con dâng lên Ngài, đều do Ngài mà có, bởi tay Ngài mà ra.

15Trước mặt Ngài, chúng con chỉ là ngoại kiều và khách trọ, như tất cả cha ông chúng con. Ngày đời của chúng con trên mặt đất như chiếc bóng thoáng qua, không để lại dấu vết.

16Lạy ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của chúng con, tất cả những của cải mà chúng con thu góp đây để xây dựng một ngôi nhà kính thánh danh Ngài, đều bởi tay Ngài mà có : tất cả là của Ngài.

17Lạy Thiên Chúa của con, con biết Ngài là Đấng dò xét tâm can và ưa thích điều chính trực. Vì thế, với tấm lòng thành, con đã tự nguyện dâng hiến Ngài tất cả những của đó. Và bây giờ con vui mừng nhận thấy rằng dân của Ngài đang có mặt nơi đây cũng tự nguyện dâng hiến cho Ngài như vậy.

18Lạy ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa của Áp-ra-ham, I-xa-ác và Ít-ra-en tổ phụ chúng con, xin mãi gìn giữ những ý nguyện và tâm tình ấy trong lòng dân của Ngài và làm cho họ luôn hướng lòng về Ngài.

19Xin ban cho Sa-lô-môn con của con, một quả tim tinh tuyền để nó tuân giữ và thi hành mọi huấn lệnh, chỉ thị và quy tắc của Ngài, và để nó xây Đền Thờ con đã chuẩn bị dâng kính Ngài.”

20Vua Đa-vít nói với toàn thể đại hội : “Hãy chúc tụng ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa các ngươi !” Và toàn thể đại hội chúc tụng ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa của cha ông họ, rồi họ phủ phục bái lạy ĐỨC CHÚA và đức vua.

21Ngày hôm sau họ sát tế lễ vật kính ĐỨC CHÚA và dâng lễ vật toàn thiêu lên ĐỨC CHÚA : một ngàn bò mộng, một ngàn dê, một ngàn chiên, cùng với rượu tế và lễ vật hy sinh rất nhiều cầu cho toàn thể Ít-ra-en.

22Ngày hôm ấy, họ hân hoan tưng bừng ăn uống trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA. Lần thứ hai họ phong Sa-lô-môn con vua Đa-vít làm vua, rồi họ xức dầu phong ông làm nhà lãnh đạo phục vụ ĐỨC CHÚA, và phong ông Xa-đốc làm tư tế.

23Sa-lô-môn ngự trên ngai của ĐỨC CHÚA, làm vua kế vị vua cha là Đa-vít và vua đã thành công. Toàn dân Ít-ra-en vâng phục vua.

24Tất cả các thủ lãnh, các dũng sĩ và tất cả các con vua Đa-vít cũng đều phục quyền vua Sa-lô-môn.

25ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho vua Sa-lô-môn nên cao trọng tuyệt vời đối với toàn thể Ít-ra-en, và ban cho vua một vẻ oai phong vương giả, chưa có một vua nào trong Ít-ra-en trước đó được như vậy.

26Vua Đa-vít, con của ông Gie-sê, đã cai trị toàn thể Ít-ra-en.

27Thời gian vua trị vì Ít-ra-en là bốn mươi năm : vua trị vì bảy năm tại Khép-rôn, và tại Giê-ru-sa-lem ba mươi ba năm.

28Vua băng hà sau khi hưởng tuổi già hạnh phúc, được trường thọ, đầy phú quý và vinh hoa. Thái tử Sa-lô-môn lên làm vua kế vị.

29Truyện vua Đa-vít từ đầu đến cuối, vẫn còn được ghi chép trong sách Sử của thầy chiêm Sa-mu-en, trong sách Sử của ngôn sứ Na-than và trong sách Sử của thầy chiêm Gát,

30cùng với tất cả những gì liên quan đến triều đại và các chiến công của vua, những bước thăng trầm của vua, của Ít-ra-en và của mọi vương quốc lân cận.
