以色列王约哈斯

1犹大王亚哈谢的儿子约阿施二十三年，耶户的儿子约哈斯在撒马利亚登基作以色列王十七年。

2约哈斯行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，效法尼八的儿子耶罗波安使以色列人陷在罪里的那罪，总不离开。

3于是，耶和华的怒气向以色列人发作，将他们屡次交在亚兰王哈薛和他儿子便哈达的手里。

4约哈斯恳求耶和华，耶和华就应允他，因为见以色列人所受亚兰王的欺压。

5耶和华赐给以色列人一位拯救者，使他们脱离亚兰人的手；于是以色列人仍旧安居在家里。

6然而，他们不离开耶罗波安家使以色列人陷在罪里的那罪，仍然去行，并且在撒马利亚留下亚舍拉。

7亚兰王灭绝约哈斯的民，践踏他们如禾场上的尘沙，只给约哈斯留下五十马兵，十辆战车，一万步兵。

8约哈斯其余的事，凡他所行的和他的勇力都写在以色列诸王记上。

9约哈斯与他列祖同睡，葬在撒马利亚。他儿子约阿施接续他作王。

以色列王约阿施

10犹大王约阿施三十七年，约哈斯的儿子约阿施在撒马利亚登基作以色列王十六年。

11他行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，不离开尼八的儿子耶罗波安使以色列人陷在罪里的一切罪，仍然去行。

12约阿施其余的事，凡他所行的和他与犹大王亚玛谢争战的勇力，都写在以色列诸王记上。

13约阿施与他列祖同睡，耶罗波安坐了他的位。约阿施与以色列诸王一同葬在撒马利亚。

以利沙去世

14以利沙得了必死的病，以色列王约阿施下来看他，伏在他脸上哭泣，说：「我父啊！我父啊！以色列的战车马兵啊！」

15以利沙对他说：「你取弓箭来。」王就取了弓箭来；

16又对以色列王说：「你用手拿弓。」王就用手拿弓。以利沙按手在王的手上，

17说：「你开朝东的窗户。」他就开了。以利沙说：「射箭吧！」他就射箭。以利沙说：「这是耶和华的得胜箭，就是战胜亚兰人的箭；因为你必在亚弗攻打亚兰人，直到灭尽他们。」

18以利沙又说：「取几枝箭来。」他就取了来。以利沙说：「打地吧！」他打了三次，便止住了。

19神人向他发怒，说：「应当击打五六次，就能攻打亚兰人直到灭尽；现在只能打败亚兰人三次。」

20以利沙死了，人将他葬埋。到了新年，有一群摩押人犯境，

21有人正葬死人，忽然看见一群人，就把死人抛在以利沙的坟墓里，一碰着以利沙的骸骨，死人就复活，站起来了。

以色列与亚兰争战

22约哈斯年间，亚兰王哈薛屡次欺压以色列人。

23耶和华却因与亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的约，仍施恩给以色列人，怜恤他们，眷顾他们，不肯灭尽他们，尚未赶逐他们离开自己面前。

24亚兰王哈薛死了，他儿子便·哈达接续他作王。

25从前哈薛和约阿施的父亲约哈斯争战，攻取了些城邑，现在约哈斯的儿子约阿施三次打败哈薛的儿子便哈达，就收回了以色列的城邑。

1In the three and twentieth year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda, Joachaz the son of Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria, seventeen years.

2And he did evil before the Lord, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, and he departed not from them.

3And the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Benadad the son of Hazael all days.

4But Joachaz besought the face of the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the distress of Israel, because the king of Syria had oppressed them:

5And the Lord gave Israel a saviour, and they were delivered out of the hand of the king of Syria: and the children of Israel dwelt in their pavilions as yesterday and the day before.

6But yet they departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin, but walked in them: and there still remained a grove also in Samaria.

7And Joachaz had no more left of the people than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen: for the king of Syria had slain them, and had brought them low as dust by thrashing in the barnfloor.

8Rut the rest of the acts of Joachaz, and all that he did, and his valour, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

9And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.

10In the seven and thirtieth year of Joas king of Juda, Joas the son of Joachaz reigned over Israel in Samaria sixteen years.

11And he did that which is evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, but he walked in them.

12But the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his valour wherewith he fought against Amasias king of Juda, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

13And Joas slept with his fathers: and Jeroboam sat upon his throne. But Joas was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14Now Eliseus was sick of the illness whereof he died: and Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept before him, and said: O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the guider thereof.

15And Eliseus said to him: Bring a bow and arrows. And when he had brought him a bow, and arrows,

16He said to the king of Israel: Put thy hand upon the bow. And when he had put his hand, Eliseus put his hands over the king’s hands,

17And said: Open the window to the east. And when he had opened it, Eliseus said: Shoot an arrow. And he shot. And Eliseus said: The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance, and the arrow of the deliverance from Syria: and thou shalt strike the Syrians in Aphec, till thou consume them.

18And he said: Take the arrows. And when he had taken them, he said to him: Strike with an arrow upon the ground. And he struck three times and stood still.

19And the man of God was angry with him, and said: If thou hadst smitten five or six or seven times, thou hadst smitten Syria even to utter destruction: but now three times shalt thou smite it.

20And Eliseus died, and they buried him. And the rovers from Moab came into the land the same year.

21And some that were burying a man, saw the rovers, and cast the body into the sepulchre of Eliseus. And when it had touched the bones of Eliseus, the man came to life, and stood upon his feet.

22Now Hazael king of Syria afflicted Israel all the days of Joachaz:

23And the Lord had mercy on them, and returned to them because of his covenant, which he had made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob: and he would not destroy them, nor utterly cast them away, unto this present time.

24And Hazael king of Syria died, and Benadad his son reigned in his stead.

25Now Joas the son of Joachaz, took the cities out of the hand of Benadad, the son of Hazael, which he had taken out of the hand of Joachaz his father by war, three times did Joas beat him, and he restored the cities to Israel.
