Forty-Two Journeys of the Israelites

1These are the journeys of the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt by their divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

2At the LORD’s command, Moses recorded the stages of their journey. These are the stages listed by their starting points:

3On the fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the Passover, the Israelites set out from Rameses. They marched out defiantlyin full view of all the Egyptians,

4who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had executed judgment against their gods.

5The Israelites set out from Rameses and camped at Succoth.

6They set out from Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness.

7They set out from Etham and turned back to Pi-hahiroth, opposite Baal-zephon, and they camped near Migdol.

8They set out from Pi-hahirothand crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah.

9They set out from Marah and came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.

10They set out from Elim and camped by the Red Sea.

11They set out from the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.

12They set out from the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.

13They set out from Dophkah and camped at Alush.

14They set out from Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

15They set out from Rephidim and camped in the Wilderness of Sinai.

16They set out from the Wilderness of Sinai and camped at Kibroth-hattaavah.

17They set out from Kibroth-hattaavah and camped at Hazeroth.

18They set out from Hazeroth and camped at Rithmah.

19They set out from Rithmah and camped at Rimmon-perez.

20They set out from Rimmon-perez and camped at Libnah.

21They set out from Libnah and camped at Rissah.

22They set out from Rissah and camped at Kehelathah.

23They set out from Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher.

24They set out from Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah.

25They set out from Haradah and camped at Makheloth.

26They set out from Makheloth and camped at Tahath.

27They set out from Tahath and camped at Terah.

28They set out from Terah and camped at Mithkah.

29They set out from Mithkah and camped at Hashmonah.

30They set out from Hashmonah and camped at Moseroth.

31They set out from Moseroth and camped at Bene-jaakan.

32They set out from Bene-jaakan and camped at Hor-haggidgad.

33They set out from Hor-haggidgad and camped at Jotbathah.

34They set out from Jotbathah and camped at Abronah.

35They set out from Abronah and camped at Ezion-geber.

36They set out from Ezion-geber and camped at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.

37They set out from Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, on the outskirts of the land of Edom.

38At the LORD’s command, Aaron the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.

39Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.

40Now the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.

41And the Israelites set out from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

42They set out from Zalmonah and camped at Punon.

43They set out from Punon and camped at Oboth.

44They set out from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.

45They set out from Iyimand camped at Dibon-gad.

46They set out from Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim.

47They set out from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarimfacing Nebo.

48They set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

49And there on the plains of Moab they camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth to Abel-shittim.

Instructions for Occupying Canaan

50On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,

51“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

52you must drive out before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and demolish all their high places.

53You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.

54And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.

55But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle.

56And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”

1Nầy là các nơi đóng trại của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên khi họ ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô tùy theo các đội ngũ, có Môi-se và A-rôn quản lý.

2Môi-se vâng mạng Đức Giê-hô-va chép sự hành trình của dân chúng, tùy theo các nơi đóng trại. Vậy, nầy là các nơi đóng trại tùy theo sự hành trình của họ.

3Ngày rằm tháng giêng, tức ngày sau lễ Vượt-qua, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ra đi từ Ram-se, cách dạn dĩ, có mắt của hết thảy người Ê-díp-tô thấy.

4Người Ê-díp-tô chôn những kẻ mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã hành hại giữa bọn mình, tức là hết thảy con đầu lòng: Đức Giê-hô-va đã đoán xét các thần chúng nó.

5Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi từ Ram-se đến đóng trại tại Su-cốt;

6rồi đi từ Su-cốt đến đóng trại tại Ê-tam, ở cuối đồng vắng.

7Kế đó, đi từ Ê-tam vòng về hướng Phi-Ha-hi-rốt, đối ngang cùng Ba-anh-Sê-phôn, và đóng trại trước Mít-đôn.

8Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bỏ Phi-Ha-hi-rốt, đi qua giữa biển về hướng đồng vắng đi ba ngày đường ngang đồng vắng Ê-tam, rồi đóng trại tại Ma-ra.

9Đoạn, đi từ Ma-ra đến Ê-lim; vả, tại Ê-lim có mười hai cái suối và bảy chục cây chà-là, bèn đóng trại tại đó.

10Dân sự đi từ Ê-lim và đóng trại gần Biển đỏ.

11Đoạn, đi từ Biển đỏ và đóng trại tại đồng vắng Sin.

12Đi từ đồng vắng Sin và đóng trại tại Đáp-ca.

13Đi từ Đáp-ca và đóng trại tại A-lúc.

14Đi từ A-lúc và đóng trại tại Rê-phi-đim, là nơi không có nước cho dân sự uống.

15Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi từ Rê-phi-đim và đóng trại trong đồng vắng Si-na-i.

16Kế đó, đi từ đồng vắng Si-na-i và đóng trại tại Kíp-rốt Ha-tha-va.

17Đi từ Kíp-rốt-Ha-tha-va và đóng trại tại Hát-sê-rốt.

18Đoạn, đi từ Hát-sê-rốt và đóng trại tại Rít-ma.

19Đi từ Rít-ma và đóng trại tại Ri-môn Phê-rết.

20Đi từ Ri-môn-Phê-rết và đóng trại tại Líp-na.

21Đi từ Líp-na và đóng trại tại Ri-sa.

22Kế đó, đi từ Ri-sa và đóng trại tại Kê-hê-la-tha.

23Đi từ Kê-hê-la-tha đóng trại tại núi Sê-phe.

24Đi từ núi Sê-phe và đóng trại tại Ha-ra-đa.

25Đi từ Ha-ra-đa và đóng trại tại Mác-hê-lốt.

26Đoạn, đi từ Mác-hê-lốt và đóng trại tại Ta-hát.

27Đi từ Ta-hát và đóng trại tại Ta-rách.

28Đi từ Ta-rách và đóng trại tại Mít-ga.

29Đi từ Mít-ga và đóng trại tại Hách-mô-na.

30Đi từ Hách-mô-na và đóng trại tại Mô-sê-rốt.

31Đi từ Mô-sê-rốt và đóng trại tại Bê-ne-Gia-can.

32Đi từ Bê-ne-Gia-can và đóng trại tại Hô-Ghi-gát.

33Đi từ Hô-Ghi-gát và đóng trại tại Dốt-ba-tha.

34Đi từ Dốt-ba-tha và đóng trại tại Aùp-rô-na.

35Đoạn, đi từ Aùp-rô-na và đóng trại tại Ê-xi-ôn-Ghê-be.

36Đi từ Ê-xi-ôn-Ghê-be và đóng trại tại đồng vắng Xin, nghĩa là tại Ca-đe.

37Kế đó, đi từ Ca-đe và đóng trại tại núi Hô-rơ, ở chót đầu xứ Ê-đôm.

38A-rôn, thầy tế lễ, theo mạng Đức Giê-hô-va lên trên núi Hô-rơ, rồi qua đời tại đó, nhằm ngày mồng một tháng năm, năm thứ bốn mươi sau khi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đã ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô.

39Khi A-rôn qua đời trên núi Hô-rơ, người đã được một trăm hai mươi ba tuổi.

40Bấy giờ, vua A-rát, là người Ca-na-an, ở miền nam xứ Ca-na-an, hay rằng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đến.

41Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi từ núi Hô-rơ và đóng trại tại Xa-mô-na.

42Đi từ Xa-mô-na và đóng trại tại Phu-nôn.

43Đi từ Phu-nôn và đóng trại tại Ô-bốt.

44Kế đó, đi từ Ô-bốt và đóng trại tại Y-giê-A-ba-rim, trên bờ cõi Mô-áp.

45Đi từ Y-giê-A-ba-rim và đóng trại tại Đi-bôn-Gát.

46Đi từ Đi-bôn-Gát và đóng trại tại Anh-môn-Đíp-la-tha-im.

47Kế ấy, đi từ Anh-môn-Đíp-la-tha-im và đóng trại tại núi A-ba-rim trước Nê-bô.

48Đi từ núi A-ba-rim và đóng trại tại đồng bằng Mô-áp gần sông Giô-đanh, đối ngang Giê-ri-cô.

49Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đóng trại gần sông Giô-đanh, từ Bết-Giê-si-mốt chi A-bên-Si-tim trong đồng Mô-áp.

50Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se trong đồng Mô-áp gần sông Giô-đanh, đối ngang Giê-ri-cô, mà rằng:

51Hãy truyền cùng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên mà rằng: Khi nào các ngươi đã đi ngang qua sông Giô-đanh đặng vào xứ Ca-na-an rồi,

52thì phải đuổi hết thảy dân của xứ khỏi trước mặt các ngươi, phá hủy hết thảy hình tượng chạm và hình đúc, cùng đạp đổ các nơi cao của chúng nó.

53Các ngươi sẽ lãnh xứ làm sản nghiệp và ở tại đó; vì ta đã ban xứ cho các ngươi đặng làm sản nghiệp.

54Phải bắt thăm chia xứ ra tùy theo họ hàng các ngươi. Hễ ai số đông, các ngươi phải cho một sản nghiệp lớn hơn; còn hễ ai số ít, thì phải cho một sản nghiệp nhỏ hơn. Mỗi người sẽ nhận lãnh phần mình bắt thăm được; phải cứ những chi phái tổ phụ các ngươi mà chia xứ ra.

55Còn nếu các ngươi không đuổi dân của xứ khỏi trước mặt mình, thì những kẻ nào trong bọn họ mà các ngươi còn chừa lại, sẽ như gai trong con mắt, và như chông nơi hông các ngươi, chúng nó sẽ theo bắt riết các ngươi tại trong xứ các ngươi ở;

56rồi xảy đến ta sẽ hành hại các ngươi khác nào ta đã toan hành hại chúng nó vậy.
