2 Chronicles

1A son of twelve years is Manasseh in his reigning, and fifty and five years he hath reigned in Jerusalem;

2and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, like the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

3and he turneth and buildeth the high places that Hezekiah his father hath broken down, and raiseth altars for Baalim, and maketh shrines, and boweth himself to all the host of the heavens, and serveth them.

4And he hath built altars in the house of Jehovah of which Jehovah had said, 'In Jerusalem is My name to the age.'

5And he buildeth altars to all the host of the heavens in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.

6And he hath caused his sons to pass over through fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and observed clouds and used enchantments and witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and a wizard; he hath multiplied to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

7And he placeth the graven image of the idol that he made in the house of God, of which God said unto David, and unto Solomon his son, 'In this house, and in Jerusalem that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I put My name to the age,

8and I add not to turn aside the foot of Israel from off the ground that I appointed to your fathers, only, if they watch to do all that I have commanded them — to all the law, and the statutes, and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.'

9And Manasseh maketh Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, to do evil above the nations that Jehovah destroyed from the presence of the sons of Israel.

10And Jehovah speaketh unto Manasseh and unto his people, and they have not attended,

11and Jehovah bringeth in against them the heads of the host that the king of Asshur hath, and they capture Manasseh among the thickets, and bind him with brazen fetters, and cause him to go to Babylon.

12And when he is in distress he hath appeased the face of Jehovah his God, and is humbled exceedingly before the God of his fathers,

13and prayeth unto Him, and He is entreated of him, and heareth his supplication, and bringeth him back to Jerusalem, to his kingdom, and Manasseh knoweth that Jehovah — He [is] God.

14And after this he hath built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west of Gihon, in the valley, and at the entering in at the fish-gate, and it hath gone round to the tower, and he maketh it exceeding high, and he putteth heads of the force in all the cities of the bulwarks in Judah.

15And he turneth aside the gods of the stranger, and the idol, out of the house of Jehovah, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of Jehovah and in Jerusalem, and casteth [them] to the outside of the city.

16And he buildeth the altar of Jehovah, and sacrificeth upon it sacrifices of peace-offerings and thank-offering, and saith to Judah to serve Jehovah, God of Israel;

17but still the people are sacrificing in high places, only — to Jehovah their God.

18And the rest of the matters of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the matters of the seers, those speaking unto him in the name of Jehovah, God of Israel, lo, they are [on the book of] the matters of the kings of Israel;

19and his prayer, and his entreaty, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places in which he had built high places, and established the shrines and the graven images before his being humbled, lo, they are written beside the matters of Hozai.

20And Manasseh lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in his own house, and reign doth Amon his son in his stead.

21A son of twenty and two years [is] Amon in his reigning, and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

22and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, as did Manasseh his father, and to all the graven images that Manasseh his father had made hath Amon sacrificed, and serveth them,

23and hath not been humbled before Jehovah, like the humbling of Manasseh his father, for Amon himself hath multiplied guilt.

24And his servants conspire against him, and put him to death in his own house,

25and the people of the land smite all those conspiring against king Amon, and the people of the land cause Josiah his son to reign in his stead.

1Mơ-na-se lên ngôi vua khi được mười hai tuổi, và trị vì năm mươi lăm năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.

2Vua đã làm điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, theo những thói ghê tởm của các dân mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã trục xuất cho khuất mắt con cái Ít-ra-en.

3Vua xây lại những nơi cao mà vua cha là Khít-ki-gia đã triệt hạ ; vua lập các tế đàn kính Ba-an, làm các cột thờ, sụp lạy toàn thể các thiên binh và phụng thờ chúng.

4Vua xây các tế đàn trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, như ĐỨC CHÚA phán : “Chính ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, Danh Ta sẽ tồn tại muôn đời.”

5Trong hai sân của Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, vua đã xây các tế đàn kính toàn thể các thiên binh.

6Vua làm lễ thiêu các con trai mình trong thung lũng Ben Hin-nôm, làm nghề chiêm tinh và phù thuỷ, lập ra các cô đồng và thầy bói ; vua làm nhiều điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA để trêu giận người.

7Vua đặt các ngẫu tượng vua đã làm ra, trong Nhà Thiên Chúa, Nhà mà Thiên Chúa đã phán với vua Đa-vít và vua Sa-lô-môn, con vua : “Tại Nhà này và ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, nơi Ta đã chọn giữa mọi chi tộc Ít-ra-en, Ta sẽ đặt Danh Ta mãi mãi.

8Ta sẽ không để chân Ít-ra-en rời khỏi phần đất Ta đã định cho tổ tiên chúng, chỉ cần chúng lo làm đúng theo những gì Ta đã truyền cho chúng và đúng theo tất cả Lề Luật, quyết định và phán quyết qua trung gian Mô-sê.”

9Vua Mơ-na-se đã làm cho Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem lạc đường, khiến họ làm điều dữ hơn cả những nước mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã tiêu diệt trước mặt con cái Ít-ra-en.

10ĐỨC CHÚA đã phán với vua Mơ-na-se và dân của vua, nhưng họ không quan tâm.

11Khi ấy, ĐỨC CHÚA đã cho các tướng lãnh của vua Át-sua đến đánh họ. Chúng dùng móc bắt vua Mơ-na-se đi, xích vua bằng sợi dây đồng chấp đôi và điệu về Ba-by-lon.

12Khi bị khốn quẫn, vua đã làm cho nét mặt ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của vua, dịu lại, và vua đã hạ mình xuống tột bậc trước nhan Thiên Chúa của tổ tiên vua.

13Vua đã cầu nguyện với Người và Người đã nhậm lời vua. Người đã nghe lời vua van xin mà cho vua trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem để cai trị vương quốc. Nhờ vậy, vua Mơ-na-se nhận biết rằng chính ĐỨC CHÚA mới thực là Thiên Chúa.

14Sau đó, vua xây một bức tường bên ngoài Thành vua Đa-vít, về phía tây Ghi-khôn, trong thung lũng, cho đến lối vào Cửa Cá ; tường này bao quanh Ô-phen. Vua xây bức tường này rất cao. Vua còn đặt các tướng chỉ huy trong mọi thành kiên cố của Giu-đa.

15Vua dẹp các thần ngoại bang và các ngẫu tượng ra khỏi Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, cũng như mọi tế đàn vua đã xây trên núi Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA và ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Vua quẳng tất cả ra ngoài thành.

16Vua tái lập bàn thờ kính ĐỨC CHÚA, dâng lễ tế kỳ an và tạ ơn trên bàn thờ này. Vua truyền Giu-đa phải phụng thờ ĐỨC CHÚA là Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en.

17Dù vậy, dân chúng vẫn còn tế lễ trên các tế đàn, nhưng là để dâng kính ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của họ.

18Những truyện còn lại của vua Mơ-na-se, lời vua cầu nguyện cùng Thiên Chúa và những lời các thầy chiêm nói với vua nhân danh ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa Ít-ra-en, tất cả điều này được ghi trong sách Công vụ các vua Ít-ra-en.

19Lời vua cầu nguyện, cách vua được nhậm lời, mọi tội vua phạm, sự bất trung của vua, các nơi cao vua đã dựng cũng như các cột thờ và các ngẫu tượng trước khi vua hạ mình xuống, tất cả đều được ghi chép trong sách Công vụ của ông Khô-dai.

20Vua Mơ-na-se đã an nghỉ với tổ tiên và được chôn cất trong cung điện của vua. Con vua là A-môn lên ngôi kế vị.

21A-môn lên làm vua khi được hai mươi hai tuổi, và trị vì hai năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.

22Vua đã làm điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, như vua cha là Mơ-na-se. Tất cả các tượng thần vua Mơ-na-se, cha của vua, đã làm, vua A-môn đều tế lễ và phụng thờ chúng.

23Nhưng vua không hạ mình xuống trước mặt ĐỨC CHÚA như vua Mơ-na-se, cha của vua, đã làm ; trái lại, vua càng phạm thêm nhiều tội.

24Các thuộc hạ của vua đã âm mưu chống lại và giết chết vua trong cung điện.

25Dân trong xứ hạ sát mọi kẻ đã âm mưu chống lại vua A-môn ; và tôn con vua là Giô-si-gia-hu lên ngôi kế vị.
