Leviticus

1The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before the LORD, and died;

2and the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.

3“Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

4He shall put on the holy linen tunic. He shall have the linen trousers on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.

5He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

6“Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.

7He shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

8Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

9Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin offering.

10But the goat on which the lot fell for the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement for him, to send him away as the scapegoat into the wilderness.

11“Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.

12He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.

13He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the covenant, so that he will not die.

14He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

15“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.

16He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them in the middle of their uncleanness.

17No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.

18“He shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.

19He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

20“When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.

21Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is ready.

22The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.

23“Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.

24Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

25The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.

26“He who lets the goat go as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

27The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.

28He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

29“It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, whether native-born or a stranger who lives as a foreigner amongst you;

30for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you. You shall be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

31It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.

32The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.

33Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

34“This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as the LORD commanded Moses.

1ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê sau khi hai người con của ông A-ha-ron chết ; chúng đã chết khi lại gần ĐỨC CHÚA.

2ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê : “Hãy nói với A-ha-ron, anh ngươi, đừng bất cứ lúc nào cũng vào trong thánh điện, phía sau màn trướng, trước nắp xá tội ở trên Hòm Bia, và như vậy nó sẽ không phải chết khi Ta hiện ra trong đám mây trên nắp xá tội.

3A-ha-ron sẽ vào thánh điện như thế này : Nó phải bắt một bò tơ để làm lễ tạ tội và một cừu đực để làm lễ toàn thiêu.

4Nó sẽ mặc áo dài thánh bằng vải gai, mặc trên mình quần đùi vải gai, thắt đai lưng vải gai, đội mũ tế vải gai. Đó là phẩm phục thánh, nó sẽ lấy nước tắm rửa thân thể trước khi mặc vào.

5Nó sẽ nhận hai con dê đực để làm lễ tạ tội và một con cừu đực để làm lễ toàn thiêu, do cộng đồng con cái Ít-ra-en đem tới.

6A-ha-ron sẽ tiến dâng con bò tơ làm lễ tạ tội cho chính mình, và sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho mình và cho nhà mình.

7Nó sẽ lấy hai con dê và đặt trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, ở cửa Lều Hội Ngộ.

8Nó sẽ bắt thăm chọn giữa hai con dê : một thăm “dành cho ĐỨC CHÚA”, một thăm “dành cho quỷ A-da-dên.”

9A-ha-ron sẽ tiến dâng con dê trúng thăm “dành cho ĐỨC CHÚA” và dùng làm lễ tạ tội.

10Còn con dê trúng thăm “dành cho A-da-dên”, A-ha-ron sẽ để sống và đặt trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, để cử hành lễ xá tội trên nó và thả nó cho A-da-dên trong sa mạc.

11A-ha-ron sẽ tiến dâng con bò tơ dùng làm lễ tạ tội cho chính mình, và cử hành lễ xá tội cho mình và cho nhà mình : nó sẽ sát tế con bò tơ làm lễ tạ tội cho chính mình.

12Nó sẽ lấy than hồng trên bàn thờ trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA bỏ đầy vào bình hương, sẽ bốc hai nắm đầy bột hương thơm, và đem vào phía sau màn trướng.

13Nó sẽ bỏ hương vào lửa, trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, và khói hương như mây sẽ phủ nắp xá tội ở trên Chứng Ước, và như vậy nó sẽ không phải chết.

14Nó sẽ dùng một ngón tay lấy máu con bò tơ rảy trên nắp xá tội, về phía đông ; rồi đằng trước nắp xá tội, nó cũng dùng ngón tay mà rảy máu bảy lần.

15Nó sẽ sát tế con dê dùng làm lễ tạ tội cho dân, sẽ đem máu nó vào phía sau màn trướng, và cũng sẽ lấy máu đó mà rảy như đã rảy máu con bò tơ : nó sẽ rảy máu đó lên nắp xá tội, và đàng trước nắp xá tội.

16Nó sẽ làm như thế cho Lều Hội Ngộ đang ở với chúng, giữa những điều ô uế của chúng.

17Nó sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho mình, cho nhà mình và cho toàn thể đại hội Ít-ra-en.

18Rồi nó sẽ ra ngoài, đến bàn thờ ở trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA và sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho bàn thờ : nó sẽ lấy máu con bò tơ và máu con dê mà bôi lên các góc cong của bàn thờ.

19Nó sẽ dùng một ngón tay rảy máu bảy lần lên bàn thờ, mà thanh tẩy cho khỏi các điều ô uế của con cái Ít-ra-en, và thánh hiến bàn thờ.

20Khi đã cử hành xong lễ xá tội cho thánh điện, cho Lều Hội Ngộ và bàn thờ, nó sẽ cho dẫn con dê còn sống tới.

21A-ha-ron sẽ đặt hai tay lên đầu con dê còn sống, sẽ xưng thú trên con vật mọi lỗi lầm của con cái Ít-ra-en, mọi việc phản nghịch của chúng, nghĩa là mọi tội lỗi chúng ; nó sẽ trút cả lên đầu con dê, rồi sẽ dùng tay một người đang chờ sẵn mà thả vào sa mạc.

22Sau khi đã thả con dê vào sa mạc,

23A-ha-ron sẽ vào trong Lều Hội Ngộ, cởi phẩm phục bằng vải gai nó đã mặc khi vào thánh điện ; và để lại đó.

24Nó sẽ lấy nước tắm rửa thân thể trong một nơi thánh, và sẽ mặc lại phẩm phục. Rồi nó sẽ ra mà dâng lễ toàn thiêu của mình và lễ toàn thiêu của dân ; nó sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho chính mình và cho dân.

25Còn mỡ của lễ tạ tội, thì nó sẽ đốt cho cháy nghi ngút ở bàn thờ.

26Người đã thả con dê “dành cho A-da-dên” sẽ giặt áo, lấy nước tắm rửa thân thể, sau đó mới được về trại.

27Con bò tơ dùng làm lễ tạ tội và con dê dùng làm lễ tạ tội, mà máu đã được đưa vào thánh điện để cử hành lễ xá tội, người ta sẽ đem ra bên ngoài trại, bỏ vào lửa mà thiêu, cả da, cả thịt, cả phân.

28Người đã đốt những con vật đó phải giặt áo, lấy nước tắm rửa thân thể, sau đó mới được về trại.

29Tháng bảy, ngày mồng mười trong tháng, các ngươi phải ăn chay hãm mình và không được làm công việc nào, dù là người bản xứ hay ngoại kiều sống giữa các ngươi.

30Thật vậy, ngày ấy, sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho các ngươi, để thanh tẩy các ngươi : trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, các ngươi sẽ được thanh sạch khỏi mọi tội lỗi của các ngươi.

31Đối với các ngươi, đó sẽ là một ngày sa-bát, một ngày nghỉ : đó là quy tắc vĩnh viễn.

32Tư tế đã được xức dầu và được trao quyền làm tư tế thay cho cha mình, sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội. Nó sẽ mặc phẩm phục bằng vải gai, phẩm phục thánh ;

33nó sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho thánh điện cực thánh ; nó sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho Lều Hội Ngộ và cho bàn thờ ; nó sẽ cử hành lễ xá tội cho các tư tế và cho toàn dân trong đại hội.

34Người ta đã làm như ĐỨC CHÚA truyền cho ông Mô-sê.
