John

1After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.

2Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.

3Simon Peter said to them, “I’m going fishing.” They told him, “We are also coming with you.” They immediately went out and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.

4But when day had already come, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.

5Jesus therefore said to them,“Children, have you anything to eat?”They answered him, “No.”

6He said to them,“Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”They cast it therefore, and now they weren’t able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.

7That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.

8But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubitsaway), dragging the net full of fish.

9So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish and bread laid on it.

10Jesus said to them,“Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

11Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of one hundred fifty-three great fish. Even though there were so many, the net wasn’t torn.

12Jesus said to them,“Come and eat breakfast!”None of the disciples dared inquire of him, “Who are you?” knowing that it was the Lord.

13Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.

14This is now the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples after he had risen from the dead.

15So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,“Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?”He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him,“Feed my lambs.”

16He said to him again a second time,“Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?”He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him,“Tend my sheep.”

17He said to him the third time,“Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?”Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time,“Do you have affection for me?”He said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you.” Jesus said to him,“Feed my sheep.

18Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”

19Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him,“Follow me.”

20Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus’ chest at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”

21Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”

22Jesus said to him,“If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me.”

23This saying therefore went out among the brothersthat this disciple wouldn’t die. Yet Jesus didn’t say to him that he wouldn’t die, but,“If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?”

24This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.

25There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn’t have room for the books that would be written.

Chúa Giê-xu Hiện Ra với Bảy Môn Đệ

1Sau đó, Chúa Giê-xu đến gặp các môn đệ lần nữa tại bờ biển Ga-li-lê. Chuyện xảy ra thế này.

2Có nhiều môn đệ có mặt tại đó—Si-môn Phi-e-rơ, Thô-ma (cũng gọi là Song Sinh), Na-tha-na-ên quê làng Ca-na, xứ Ga-li-lê, hai con trai của Xê-bê-đê, và hai môn đệ nữa.

3Si-môn Phi-e-rơ nói: “Tôi sẽ đi đánh cá!” Mọi người đều tán thành: “Chúng tôi cùng đi với anh!” Họ xuống thuyền thả lưới suốt đêm nhưng chẳng được con cá nào.

4Đến rạng đông, Chúa Giê-xu đứng trên bờ, nhưng các môn đệ không nhận ra Ngài là ai.

5Ngài gọi lớn: “Có bắt được cá không, các con?” Họ đáp: “Thưa không!”

6Ngài phán: “Hãy thả lưới bên phải mạn thuyền thì sẽ được!” Họ vâng lời nên được rất nhiều cá, không thể kéo lưới vào thuyền.

7Môn đệ Chúa Giê-xu yêu nói với Phi-e-rơ: “Đó là Chúa!” Khi Si-môn Phi-e-rơ nghe đó là Chúa, ông liền khoác áo (vì ông cởi áo lúc làm việc), nhảy ùm xuống nước lội vào bờ.

8Các môn đệ khác chèo thuyền vào, kéo theo mẻ lưới đầy cá, vì chỉ cách bờ độ 90 mét.

9Khi lên bờ, các môn đệ thấy có sẵn bánh mì và một đám lửa, trên lửa có cá đang nướng.

10Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Hãy đem cá các con mới bắt lại đây!”

11Si-môn Phi-e-rơ kéo lưới vào bờ. Lưới đầy cá lớn, đếm được 153 con, cá nhiều thế mà lưới vẫn không đứt.

12Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Hãy lại đây ăn sáng!” Không một môn đệ nào dám hỏi: “Ngài là ai?” Vì họ biết chắc chắn đó là Chúa.

13Chúa Giê-xu lấy bánh và cá trao cho các môn đệ.

14Đây là lần thứ ba Chúa Giê-xu hiện ra với các môn đệ từ khi Ngài sống lại.

15Sau khi ăn sáng xong, Chúa Giê-xu hỏi Si-môn Phi-e-rơ: “Si-môn, con Giăng, con yêu Ta hơn những người này không?” Phi-e-rơ đáp: “Vâng, Chúa biết con yêu Chúa.” Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Hãy chăn chiên con Ta!”

16Chúa Giê-xu lặp lại câu hỏi: “Si-môn, con Giăng, con yêu Ta không?” Phi-e-rơ quả quyết: “Thưa Chúa, Chúa biết con yêu Chúa.” Chúa Giê-xu dạy: “Hãy chăn đàn chiên Ta!”

17Chúa hỏi lần thứ ba: “Si-môn, con Giăng, con yêu Ta không?” Phi-e-rơ đau buồn vì Chúa Giê-xu hỏi mình câu ấy đến ba lần. Ông thành khẩn: “Thưa Chúa, Chúa biết mọi sự, Chúa biết con yêu Chúa!” Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Hãy chăn đàn chiên Ta!

18Ta quả quyết với con, khi con còn trẻ, con tự sức làm mọi việc; con tự mặc đồ và muốn đi đâu tùy ý. Nhưng về già, con phải đưa tay ra, người ta sẽ mặc đồ cho con, và dắt con đến nơi con không muốn.”

19Chúa Giê-xu ngụ ý cho biết ông phải chết cách nào để làm vinh quang Đức Chúa Trời. Sau đó, Chúa Giê-xu phán với ông: “Hãy theo Ta!”

20Phi-e-rơ quay lại, thấy môn đệ Chúa Giê-xu yêu—người đã dựa vào ngực Chúa trong buổi ăn tối cuối cùng mà hỏi rằng: “Thưa Chúa, ai là người phản Chúa?”

21Thấy người ấy đi theo, Phi-e-rơ hỏi Chúa Giê-xu: “Thưa Chúa, anh ấy sẽ ra sao?”

22Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Nếu Ta muốn cho anh ấy sống đến ngày Ta trở lại, thì liên hệ gì đến con? Phần con hãy theo Ta!”

23Do đó, có tin đồn trong cộng đồng những người tin rằng môn đệ ấy sẽ không chết. Nhưng đó không phải là điều Chúa Giê-xu nói. Ngài chỉ nói: “Nếu Ta muốn cho anh ấy sống đến ngày Ta trở lại, thì liên hệ gì đến con?”

24Chính môn đệ ấy chứng kiến mọi việc vừa kể và ghi lại những dòng chữ này. Ai cũng biết lời chứng của người ấy là chân thật.

25Chúa Giê-xu còn làm nhiều việc khác. Nếu người ta ghi chép đầy đủ, tôi chắc rằng cả thế giới cũng không có chỗ chứa hết những sách đã được viết.
