1The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.

2Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

3These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. The name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.

4Penuel was the father of Gedor and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

5Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

7The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

8Hakkoz became the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

9Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez,saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”

10Jabez called on the Godof Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border! May your hand be with me, and may you keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” God granted him that which he requested.

11Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

12Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.

13The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath.

14Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim, for they were craftsmen.

15The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.

16The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

17The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon; and Mered’s wife bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.

19The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

20The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben Zoheth.

21The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

22and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. These records are ancient.

23These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah; they lived there with the king for his work.

24The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son.

26The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

27Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, and all their family didn’t multiply like the children of Judah.

28They lived at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazarshual,

29at Bilhah, at Ezem, at Tolad,

30at Bethuel, at Hormah, at Ziklag,

31at Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susim, at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities until David’s reign.

32Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

33and all their villages that were around the same cities, as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept their genealogy.

34Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah,

35Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

36Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah—

38these mentioned by name were princes in their families. Their fathers’ houses increased greatly.

39They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

40They found rich, good pasture, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceful, for those who lived there before were descended from Ham.

41These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents and the Meunim who were found there; and they destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks.

42Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

43They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

6Na-a-ra sanh A-hu-xam, Hê-phe, Thê-mê-ni, và A-hách-tha-ri.

7Aáy là các con trai của Na-a-ra. Con trai của Hê-lê-a là Xê-rết, Xô-ha, và Eát-nan.

8Ha-cốt sanh A-núp, Hát-xô-bê-ba, và dòng A-ha-hên, con Ha-rum.

9Gia-bê được tôn trọng hơn anh em mình; mẹ người đặt tên là Gia-bê, vì nói rằng: Ta sanh nó trong sự đau đớn.

10Gia-bê khấn nguyện với Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Chớ chi Chúa ban phước cho tôi, mở bờ cõi tôi rộng lớn; nguyện tay Chúa phù giúp tôi, giữ tôi được khỏi sự dữ, hầu cho tôi chẳng buồn rầu! Đức Chúa Trời bèn ban cho y như sự người cầu nguyện.

11Kê-lúp, anh em của Su-ha, sanh Mê-hia, tổ phụ của Ê-tôn.

12Ê-tôn sanh nhà Ra-pha, Pha-sê-a, và Tê-hi-na, tổ tiên của dân thành Na-hách. Aáy là những người Rê-ca.

13Con trai của Kê-na là Oát-ni-ên và Sê-ra-gia. Con trai của Oát-ni-ên là Ha-thát.

14Mê-ô-nô-thai sanh Oùp-ra; Sê-ra-gia sanh Giô-áp, tổ phụ của các người ở trũng thợ mộc, vì họ đều là thợ mộc.

15Các con trai của Ca-lép, cháu của Giê-phu-nê, là Y-ru, Ê-la, và Na-am, cùng những con trai của Ê-la và Kê-na.

16Con trai của Giê-ha-lê-le là Xíp, Xi-pha, Thi-ria, và A-sa-rên.

17Con trai của E-xơ-ra là Giê-the, Mê-rết, Ê-phe, và Gia-lôn. Vợ của Mê-rết sanh Mi-ri-am, Sa-mai, và Dít-bác, tổ phụ của Eách-tê-mô-a.

18Vợ người là dân Giu-đa, sanh Giê-rệt, tổ phụ của Ghê-đô, Hê-be, tổ phụ của Sô-cô, và Giê-cu-ti-ên, tổ phụ của Xa-nô-a. Aáy là con cháu của Bi-thia, con gái của Pha-ra-ôn, mà Mê-rết cưới lấy.

19Con trai của vợ Hô-đia, chị em Na-ham, là cha của Kê-hi-la, người Gạc-mít, và Eách-tê-mô-a, người Ma-ca-thít.

20Con trai của Si-môn là Am-nôn, Ri-na, Bên-Ha-nan, và Ti-lôn. Con trai của Di-si là Xô-hết và Bên-Xô-hết.

21Con cháu Sê-la, con trai Giu-đa, là Ê-rơ, tổ phụ của Lê-ca, La-ê-đa, tổ phụ của Ma-rê-sa, và các họ hàng về dòng dõi Aùch-bê-a, là kẻ dệt vải gai mịn;

22lại có Giô-kim, và những người Cô-xê-ba, Giô-ách, và Sa-ráp, là người cai trị đất Mô-áp, cùng Gia-su-bi-Lê-chem. Aáy là điều cổ tích.

23Những người nầy là thợ gốm, ở tại Nê-ta-im, và Ghê-đê-ra; chúng ở gần vua mà làm công việc người.

24Con trai của Si-mê-ôn là Nê-mu-ên, Gia-min, Gia-ríp, Xê-ra, Sau-lơ;

25Sa-lum, con trai của Sau-lơ, Míp-sam, con trai của Sa-lum, và Mích-ma, con trai của Míp-sam.

26Con trai của Mích-ma là Ham-mu-ên, con trai của Ham-mu-ên là Xa-cu, con trai của Xa-cu là Si-mê-i.

27Còn Si-mê-i có mười sáu con trai và sáu con gái; song anh em người không đông con; cả họ hàng chúng sánh với số người Giu-đa thì kém.

28Chúng ở tại Bê-e-Sê-ba, tại Mô-la-đa, tại Ha-xa-Sua,

29tại Bi-la, tại Ê-xem, và tại Tô-lát;

30lại ở tại Bê-tu-ên, Họt-ma, và Xiếc-lác;

31ở tại Bết-Ma-ca-bốt, Hát-sa-Su-sim, Bết-Bi-rê, và tại Sa-a-ra-im. Aáy là các thành của chúng cho đến đời vua Đa-vít.

32Chúng cũng có năm hương thôn, là Ê-tam, A-in, Rim-môn, Tô-ken, và A-san,

33cùng các thôn ấp bốn phía của các hương thôn nầy cho đến Ba-anh. Aáy là chỗ ở và gia phổ của chúng.

34Lại, Mê-sô-báp, Giam-léc, Giô-sa, con trai của A-ma-xia;

35Giô-ên và Giê-hu, là con trai Giô-xơ-bia, cháu Sê-ra-gia, chắt A-si-ên;

36lại có Ê-li-ô-ê-nai, Gia-cô-ba, Giê-sô-hai-gia, A-sa-gia, A-đi-ên, Giê-si-mi-ên, Bê-na-gia,

37Xi-xa, con trai của Si-phi, cháu của A-lôn, chắt của Giê-đa-gia, chít của Sim-ri, là con trai của Sê-ma-gia.

38Những người kể từng tên nầy là trưởng tộc trong họ mình, tông tộc chúng thì thêm lên rất nhiều.

39Chúng sang qua Ghê-đô, đến bên phía đông của trũng, để kiếm đồng cỏ cho đoàn súc vật mình.

40Chúng bèn thấy đồng cỏ tươi tốt; còn đất thì rộng rãi, yên lặng và bình an; khi trước dòng dõi Cham ở đó.

41Những người đã kể tên trước đây, trong đời Ê-xê-chia, vua nước Giu-đa, kéo đến đánh các trại quân của chúng, và những người Ma-ô-nít ở đó, tuyệt hết họ, chiếm lấy đất, và ở thay vào cho đến ngày nay; bởi vì tại đó có đồng cỏ để nuôi bầy súc vật của họ.

42Trong dòng Si-mê-ôn có năm trăm người tiến đến núi Sê-i-rơ; các quan-cai họ là Phê-la-tia, Nê-a-ria, Rê-pha-gia, và U-xi-ên; ấy là các con trai của Di-si.

43Chúng đánh người A-ma-léc còn sót lại, rồi ở đó cho đến ngày nay.
