Lời Khuyên Khôn Ngoan của Người Cha

1Con ơi, hãy nghe cha khuyên dạy.Lắng tai để có sự hiểu biết,

2vì ta cho con bài học tốt.Đừng bỏ phép tắc của ta.

3Vì ta cũng vậy, vốn là con của cha ta,là đứa con một yêu quý của mẹ ta.

4Cha ta cũng dạy ta rằng:“Lòng con ghi tạc lời ta. Giữ gìn mệnh lệnh ta và sống.

5Tìm cầu khôn ngoan và thông sáng.Đừng từ khước, đừng xây bỏ lời ta,

6Đừng lìa bỏ sự khôn ngoan, vì nó sẽ bảo vệ con.Hãy yêu mến sự khôn ngoan, vì nó sẽ gìn giữ con.

7Khôn ngoan là cần yếu, hãy tìm cầu sự khôn ngoan!Tận dụng khả năng cho được thông sáng.

8Nếu tôn trọng sự khôn ngoan, nó sẽ đưa con lên cao.Nắm giữ sự khôn ngoan, nó sẽ đem cho con vinh dự.

9Nó sẽ ban vòng hoa xinh đẹp trên đầu con;và đội cho con vương miện vinh quang.”

10Con ơi, hãy nghe và tiếp nhận lời ta,thì con sẽ sống thêm được nhiều năm.

11Ta đã dạy con biết đường khôn ngoanvà dẫn con theo lối ngay thẳng.

12Khi con đi, con sẽ không bị vướng chân;lúc con chạy, con sẽ không vấp ngã.

13Hãy nắm chặt lời khuyên dạy; đừng bỏ qua điều ta dạy.Phải nắm giữ, vì là chìa khóa của đời sống con.

14Đừng bước vào đường người ác,và đừng theo lối bọn gian manh.

15Phải tránh xa; đừng bước ngang qua.Phải quay lưng, thẳng bước mà đi.

16Khi chưa làm ác, họ không thể chợp mắt.Họ cố thức để gây vấp ngã cho người.

17Họ ăn bánh gian ácvà uống rượu bạo tàn!

18Nhưng đường người công chính càng thêm sáng sủa,rực rỡ như mặt trời lúc giữa trưa.

19Đường người ác ngập tràn bóng tối.Họ vấp ngã cũng chẳng biết vì đâu.

20Con ơi, lưu ý lời ta dạy.Lắng tai nghe lời ta giải bày.

21Đừng để lời ta xa tầm mắt con.Nhưng phải giữ chặt trong tâm hồn.

22Vì lời ta đem sinh lực cho ai tìm được nó,và chữa lành cho toàn thân họ.

23Phải lo giữ tấm lòng con trước hết,vì là nguồn nước sống tuôn tràn.

24Con hãy tránh xa miệng lưỡi dối trá;và bỏ cách xa con môi gian tà.

25Mắt con phải nhìn thẳng,và hướng tầm nhìn về phía trước mặt con.

26Nếu con thận trọng mọi đường lối;thì bước chân con sẽ vững vàng.

27Đừng quay sang phải hay trái;phải giữ chân con khỏi chỗ gian tà.

1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

14¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

15Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

16For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

17For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

19The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23¶ Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
