1Ai yêu kỷ luật yêu tri thức;ai ghét sửa dạy là người ngây ngô.

2Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước cho người ngay thẳng,nhưng đoán phạt người mưu đồ việc ác.

3Gian ác không đem lại hạnh phước bền lâu,nhưng người công chính sẽ đâm rễ vững vàng.

4Vợ hiền đức là mão miện cho chồng,vợ gây xấu hổ làm chồng tàn cốt mục xương.

5Người công chính giữ tâm tư hướng thiện;người ác gian nghĩ mưu kế gạt lừa.

6Lời người ác như cạm bẫy hại người,miệng người lành mở con đường giải thoát.

7Người ác bị lật đổ và tiêu tan,nhà người công chính luôn đứng vững vàng.

8Càng khôn càng được tiếng khen,người gian phải nhận lấy lời gièm chê.

9Thà vô danh mà có người hầu người hạ,còn hơn vênh váo tự tôn mà thiếu thức ăn.

10Người lành chăm lo cho gia súc mình,còn người ác dù tỏ ra yêu thương vẫn là ác.

11Ai cày sâu cuốc bẩm thu hoạch nhiều hoa lợi,ai đuổi theo ảo mộng là người thiếu suy xét.

12Người gian muốn đoạt cả vật đã chia cho đồng bọn,còn người công chính chỉ muốn giúp đỡ lẫn nhau.

13Người ác bị lời dối trá mình sập bẫy,người thiện nhờ ngay thật mà được thoát nguy.

14Miệng nói thật tạo ra nhiều phước hạnh,tay siêng năng đem lại lắm thỏa lòng.

15Người dại tự cho đường lối mình công chính,nhưng người khôn biết lắng nghe lời khuyên dạy.

16Người dại để lộ lòng giận dữ,người khôn giữ được bình tĩnh dù bị sỉ nhục.

17Nhân chứng thật nói ra lời ngay thẳng;nhân chứng gian chỉ lừa gạt mưu đồ.

18Lời khinh suất đâm chém như gươm bén,lưỡi khôn ngoan chữa trị giống thuốc hay.

19Môi chân thật sẽ lưu truyền mãi mãi,lưỡi điêu ngoa phút chốc đã qua rồi.

20Lòng dạ người mưu ác chứa đầy lừa dối;tâm can người giải hòa tràn ngập vui tươi.

21Hoạn nạn lánh xa người công chính,tai vạ tìm đến người gian tà.

22Chúa Hằng Hữu ghê tởm môi gian trá,người thành thật luôn được Chúa mến yêu.

23Người khôn chẳng khoe khoang tri thức,người khờ thường bộc lộ dại dột.

24Tay siêng năng sẽ nắm quyền cai trị,tay biếng lười sẽ chịu cảnh tôi đòi.

25Lòng lo lắng làm người nản chí;lời nói lành phấn chấn tâm can.

26Người công chính cậy bạn làm cố vấn;người gian tà tự chọn nẻo hư vong.

27Người làm biếng không nấu nướng thịt mình săn được,nhưng tính siêng năng là gia tài quý báu của một người.

28Đường công chính dẫn đến chốn vĩnh sinh,trên đường ấy tử thần không ló dạng.

1He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is foolish.

2He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord: but he that trusteth in his own devices doth wickedly.

3Men shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.

4A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is a rottenness in his bones.

5The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

6The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them.

7Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.

8A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.

9Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread.

10The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel.

11He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish. He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds.

12The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper.

13For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil mall: but the just shall escape out of distress.

14By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him.

15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.

16A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise.

17He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness.

18There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health.

19The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.

20Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.

21Whatsoever shall befall the just man. it shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

22Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully please him.

23A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly.

24The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful, shall be under tribute.

25Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad.

26He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.

27The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold.

28In the path of justice is life: but the by-way leadeth to death.
