Giu-đa Đồng Ý Phản Chúa Giê-xu

1Đã gần đến ngày Lễ Bánh Không Men, gọi là lễ Vượt Qua.

2Các thầy trưởng tế và thầy dạy luật tìm cách giết Chúa Giê-xu, nhưng họ sợ dân chúng nổi loạn.

3Quỷ Sa-tan nhập vào Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt, là một trong mười hai sứ đồ.

4Giu-đa tìm gặp các thầy trưởng tế và các viên chỉ huy lính gác Đền Thờ để bàn cách tốt nhất nộp Chúa Giê-xu cho họ.

5Họ mừng lắm, hứa sẽ thưởng tiền.

6Từ đó, Giu-đa tìm cơ hội nộp Chúa lúc không có dân chúng ở gần Ngài.

Bữa Tiệc Cuối Cùng

7Đến ngày Lễ Bánh Không Men, người Do Thái giết chiên con để ăn với bánh không men.

8Chúa Giê-xu sai Phi-e-rơ và Giăng đi trước và phán: “Hãy đi và chuẩn bị bữa tiệc cho chúng ta.”

9Họ hỏi Chúa: “Thưa Thầy, chúng con sẽ dọn tiệc tại đâu?”

10Chúa đáp: “Vừa khi vào Giê-ru-sa-lem, các con sẽ gặp một người xách vò nước. Người ấy vào nhà nào, các con cứ theo vào,

11nói với chủ nhà: ‘Thầy hỏi: Phòng khách dành riêng cho Ta và các môn đệ ăn lễ Vượt Qua ở đâu?’

12Chủ nhà sẽ chỉ cho các con một phòng rộng trên lầu đầy đủ tiện nghi. Các con hãy dọn tiệc tại đó.”

13Họ ra đi gặp mọi điều đúng như lời Chúa dạy và họ chuẩn bị bữa ăn lễ Vượt Qua ở đó.

14Đến giờ dự lễ, Chúa Giê-xu ngồi ăn với các sứ đồ.

15Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Ta rất muốn dự lễ Vượt Qua này với các con trước khi chịu thống khổ.

16Ta cho các con biết: Ta sẽ không dự tiệc này nữa cho đến khi mục đích bữa tiệc được hoàn thành trong Nước của Đức Chúa Trời.”

17Chúa lấy chén nước nho tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời và phán: “Các con cầm chén này chia nhau uống đi.

18Vì từ nay, Ta sẽ không uống nước nho này nữa cho đến khi Nước của Đức Chúa Trời được thể hiện.”

19Ngài lấy bánh, tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời, bẻ ra trao cho các môn đệ: “Đây là thân thể Ta, vì các con mà hy sinh. Hãy ăn để tưởng niệm Ta.”

20Cũng thế, sau bữa ăn, Chúa cầm chén nước nho và bảo: “Chén này là giao ước mới giữa Đức Chúa Trời và nhân loại, ấn chứng bằng máu Ta, máu phải đổ ra vì các con.

21Nhưng tại bàn này, kẻ phản Ta đang ngồi ăn chung với Ta.

22Con Ngườiphải hy sinh đúng theo chương trình Đức Chúa Trời, nhưng khốn cho kẻ phản Ngài!”

23Các môn đệ hỏi nhau ai là người phản Chúa.

24Rồi họ bắt đầu tranh luận với nhau xem ai cao trọng nhất giữa vòng họ.

25Chúa Giê-xu dạy: “Vua chúa các dân tộc nước ngoài cai trị tàn ác; người áp bức dân chúng lại được gọi là ân nhân.

26Nhưng giữa các con, ai muốn làm lớn phải chịu phận nhỏ, ai muốn lãnh đạo phải làm đầy tớ.

27Ai lớn hơn? Người ngồi ở bàn ăn và người phục vụ? Nhưng Ta ở giữa các con như người phục vụ vậy.

28Vì các con trung thành với Ta trong những ngày thử thách

29và vì Cha đã ủy quyền cai trị cho Ta, nên Ta cũng cho các con quyền đó.

30Các con sẽ được ăn uống chung bàn với Ta trong Nước Ta và ngồi trên ngai xét xử mười hai đại tộc Ít-ra-ên.”

Chúa Giê-xu Báo Trước Sự Chối Chúa của Phi-e-rơ

31“Si-môn, Si-môn, Sa-tan đã xin phép thử thách con như người ta sàng sảy lúa.

32Nhưng Ta đã cầu nguyện cho con khỏi thiếu đức tin. Sau khi con ăn năn, hãy gây dựng đức tin cho anh chị em con!”

33Phi-e-rơ đáp: “Thưa Chúa, con sẵn sàng ngồi tù, chịu chết với Thầy!”

34Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Phi-e-rơ ơi, Ta cho con biết, trước khi gà gáy đêm nay, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần.”

35Chúa Giê-xu hỏi các môn đệ: “Khi Ta sai các con đi truyền giáo, không mang theo tiền bạc, túi bao hay giày dép, các con có thiếu thốn gì không?” Họ đáp: “Thưa không!”

36Chúa tiếp: “Nhưng bây giờ lại khác. Ai có tiền bạc hay túi bao, cứ mang theo. Ai không có gươm, nên bán áo choàng mà mua.

37Vì lời tiên tri này sắp ứng nghiệm: ‘Người sẽ bị kể vào hàng phạm nhân.’Phải, các lời tiên tri nói về Ta đều sẽ ứng nghiệm.”

38Các môn đệ đáp: “Thưa Thầy, chúng con có hai thanh gươm đây.” Chúa đáp: “Đủ rồi.”

Chúa Giê-xu Cầu Nguyện trên Núi Ô-liu

39Rời phòng tiệc, Chúa Giê-xu lên núi Ô-liu như thường lệ. Các môn đệ đi theo Ngài.

40Đến nơi, Ngài nói với họ: “Các con phải cầu nguyện để khỏi bị cám dỗ.”

41Rồi Chúa đi, quãng chừng ném một viên đá, và quỳ xuống cầu nguyện:

42“Thưa Cha, nếu Cha vui lòng, xin cho Con khỏi uống chén này. Nhưng xin ý Cha được thực hiện, chứ không theo ý Con.”

43Lúc ấy, một thiên sứ đến thêm sức cho Ngài.

44Trong lúc đau đớn thống khổ, Chúa cầu nguyện càng tha thiết, mồ hôi toát ra như những giọt máu nhỏ xuống đất.

45Cầu nguyện xong, Chúa đứng lên, trở lại với các môn đệ, thấy họ đang ngủ vì quá buồn rầu.

46Chúa gọi: “Sao các con ngủ? Hãy thức dậy cầu nguyện để khỏi bị cám dỗ.”

Chúa Giê-xu Bị Phản Nộp và Bị Bắt

47Nhưng khi Chúa Giê-xu còn đang nói, một đám đông kéo tới, do Giu-đa, một trong mười hai sứ đồ dẫn đường. Giu-đa trân tráo tới gần hôn Chúa Giê-xu.

48Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu trách: “Giu-đa, con lấy cái hôn để phản Con Người sao?”

49Các môn đệ thấy việc xảy ra, liền hỏi: “Thưa Chúa, chúng con nên cầm gươm chiến đấu không?”

50Một môn đệ vung gươm chém đứt vành tai phải của đầy tớ thầy thượng tế.

51Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu ngăn lại: “Đừng đánh chém nữa.” Rồi Ngài đặt tay chữa lành tai người đầy tớ.

52Chúa Giê-xu hỏi các thầy trưởng tế, các viên chỉ huy lính gác Đền Thờ và các trưởng lão: “Ta đâu phải trộm cướp mà các ông cầm gươm dao, gậy gộc đến bắt?

53Hằng ngày Ta vẫn ở với các ông trong Đền Thờ, sao các ông không bắt Ta? Nhưng nay đã đến giờ của các ông, giờ của quyền lực tối tăm.”

Phi-e-rơ Chối Chúa Giê-xu

54Vậy họ bắt Chúa giải đến dinh thầy thượng tế. Phi-e-rơ theo sau Chúa xa xa.

55Bọn lính nhóm một đống lửa ngoài sân rồi ngồi lại sưởi, Phi-e-rơ len vào ngồi với họ.

56Một đầy tớ gái thấy ông bên đống lửa liền nhìn mặt: “Anh này là một trong nhóm người theo Giê-xu!”

57Nhưng Phi-e-rơ chối: “Chị ơi, tôi không biết ông ấy đâu!”

58Một lúc sau, người khác thấy Phi-e-rơ liền nói: “Anh cũng thuộc bọn đó!” Phi-e-rơ cãi: “Không phải đâu!”

59Chừng một giờ sau, người khác nữa quả quyết: “Đúng rồi! Anh này là một trong số họ, vì cũng là người Ga-li-lê!”

60Nhưng Phi-e-rơ lại chối: “Ông ơi, tôi không hiểu ông nói gì hết!” Ngay lúc ấy, có tiếng gà gáy.

61Chúa quay lại nhìn Phi-e-rơ. Chợt nhớ lời Chúa: “Trước khi gà gáy đêm nay, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần.”

62Phi-e-rơ bước ra ngoài khóc lóc đắng cay.

63Bọn người canh giữ Chúa Giê-xu bắt đầu chế giễu, đánh đập Ngài.

64Chúng bịt mắt, đấm Ngài rồi hỏi: “Thử đoán xem ai vừa đánh anh đó?”

65Chúng sỉ nhục Ngài đủ điều.

Chúa Giê-xu Trước Hội Đồng Quốc Gia

66Sáng sớm hôm sau, hội đồng được triệu tập, gồm các trưởng lão, các thầy trưởng tế, và các thầy dạy luật. Chúa Giê-xu bị giải ra trước hội đồng, rồi họ chất vấn:

67“Hãy cho chúng tôi biết, anh có phải là Đấng Mết-si-a không?” Chúa đáp: “Dù Ta nói, các ông cũng không tin.

68Và nếu Ta hỏi, các ông cũng không trả lời.

69Nhưng từ nay, Con Người sẽ ngồi bên phải ngai quyền năng của Đức Chúa Trời.”

70Cả Hội đồng đều hỏi: “Vậy anh là Con Đức Chúa Trời sao?” Chúa đáp: “Chính các ông đã nói vậy!”

71Họ bảo nhau: “Chúng ta cần gì nhân chứng nữa, vì chính miệng nó đã khai ra rồi!”

1Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

2And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

3¶ Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

4And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

5And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

6And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

7¶ Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

8And he sent Peter and John, saying,Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

9And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

10And he said unto them,Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

11And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

12And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

13And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

14And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

15And he said unto them,With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

16For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said,Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

18For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19¶ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying,This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying,This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

21¶ But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

22And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

23And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

24¶ And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25And he said unto them,The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

28Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

29And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

30That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31¶ And the Lord said,Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

33And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

34And he said,I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

35And he said unto them,When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing?And they said, Nothing.

36Then said he unto them,But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

38And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them,It is enough.

39¶ And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40And when he was at the place, he said unto them,Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

42Saying,Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

46And said unto them,Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

47¶ And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

48But Jesus said unto him,Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

49When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

50¶ And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51And Jesus answered and said,Suffer ye thus far.And he touched his ear, and healed him.

52Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him,Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

53When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

54¶ Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.

55And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

56But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

57And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

58And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

59And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilæan.

60And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

61And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

62And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

63¶ And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

64And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?

65And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.

66¶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

67Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them,If I tell you, ye will not believe:

68And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.

69Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

70Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them,Ye say that I am.

71And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
