Phi-e-rơ Chữa Lành Người Ăn Xin Liệt Chân

1Một hôm, vào buổi cầu nguyện ba giờ chiều, Phi-e-rơ và Giăng lên Đền Thờ.

2Tại Cửa Đẹp của Đền Thờ, có một anh bị liệt chân từ lúc mới sinh, hằng ngày nhờ người khiêng đến để xin tiền những người vào Đền Thờ.

3Anh liệt chân trông thấy Phi-e-rơ và Giăng sắp bước vào trong, liền ngửa tay xin bố thí.

4Phi-e-rơ và Giăng nhìn thẳng mặt anh, rồi Phi-e-rơ nói: “Anh nhìn chúng tôi đây!”

5Người liệt chân ngó chăm hai ông, mong sẽ được ít tiền bố thí.

6Nhưng Phi-e-rơ nói: “Tôi không có bạc hay vàng. Nhưng tôi sẽ cho anh điều tôi có. Nhân danh Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu ở Na-xa-rét, hãy đứng dậy và bước đi!”

7Đồng thời Phi-e-rơ nắm tay phải anh liệt chân kéo lên. Lập tức bàn chân và mắt cá anh lành mạnh.

8Anh vùng đứng dậy và bắt đầu bước đi! Rồi anh theo hai sứ đồ vào Đền Thờ, vừa đi, vừa nhảy, vừa ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời.

9Dân chúng đều thấy anh bước đi và ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời.

10Họ nhận ra anh là người liệt chân vẫn ngồi ăn xin tại Cửa Đẹp, nên đều sửng sốt.

11Thấy anh nắm tay Phi-e-rơ và Giăng, họ vô cùng kinh ngạc, kéo nhau chạy theo đến Hành Lang Sa-lô-môn.

Phi-e-rơ Giảng Dạy tại Đền Thờ

12Phi-e-rơ quay lại giảng giải: “Thưa người Ít-ra-ên, sao anh chị em ngạc nhiên về điều này? Tại sao anh chị em nhìn chúng tôi như thế? Anh chị em tưởng nhờ quyền phép hay công đức của chúng tôi mà người liệt chân đi được sao?

13Đó là do Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác, và Gia-cốp—Đức Chúa Trời của tổ tiên chúng ta—Đấng đã làm vinh quang Chúa Giê-xu, Đầy Tớ Ngài. Đây là Chúa Giê-xu mà anh chị em đã bắt giải nạp cho Phi-lát và ngoan cố chống đối khi Phi-lát định thả Ngài.

14Anh chị em đã khước từ Đấng Thánh và Công Chính để xin phóng thích một kẻ giết người.

15Anh chị em đã giết Chúa Sự Sống, nhưng Đức Chúa Trời đã cho Ngài sống lại. Và chúng tôi đây đều là nhân chứng cho sự thật này!

16Nhờ tin Danh Chúa Giê-xu, người liệt chân đang đứng trước mặt anh chị em đây được lành. Đức tin trong Danh Chúa Giê-xu đã chữa cho anh này khỏi tật nguyền như anh chị em vừa chứng kiến.

17Thưa anh chị em, tôi biết anh chị em cũng như các nhà lãnh đạo đã hành động cách vô ý thức.

18Việc này xảy ra đúng theo lời Đức Chúa Trời dùng các nhà tiên tri báo trước về Đấng Mết-si-a—rằng Chúa phải chịu thống khổ.

19Vậy, anh chị em hãy ăn năn trở về với Đức Chúa Trời để tội lỗi được tẩy sạch.

20Như thế, thời kỳ tươi mới mà Chúa ban cho sẽ đến, và Ngài sẽ sai Chúa Giê-xu, tức Đấng Mết-si-a của anh chị em trở lại với anh chị em.

21Hiện nay Chúa Giê-xu còn phải ở lại thiên đàng cho đến thời kỳ phục hưng vạn vật, như điều Đức Chúa Trời đã phán dạy từ xưa, qua môi miệng các nhà tiên tri thánh.

22Môi-se đã nói: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta sẽ dấy lên từ giữa anh chị em một Đấng Tiên Tri như tôi. Hãy lắng nghe cẩn thận mọi điều Ngài phán dạy.’

23Môi-se còn nói: ‘Ai không vâng lời Tiên Tri ấy sẽ bị khai trừ khỏi con dân Đức Chúa Trời.’”

24“Thật thế, tất cả nhà tiên tri từ Sa-mu-ên về sau đều báo trước những việc ngày nay.

25Anh chị em là con cháu các nhà tiên tri và là người thừa hưởng giao ước Đức Chúa Trời đã lập với tổ tiên ta. Đức Chúa Trời đã hứa với Áp-ra-ham: ‘Nhờ hậu tự của con, cả nhân loại sẽ hưởng hạnh phước.’

26Vậy Đức Chúa Trời đã tấn phong Đầy Tớ Ngài và sai Người đem hạnh phước cho anh chị em trước hết, dìu dắt mỗi người rời bỏ con đường tội lỗi.”

1And Peter and John were going up at the same time to the temple, at the hour of the prayer, the ninth [hour],

2and a certain man, being lame from the womb of his mother, was being carried, whom they were laying every day at the gate of the temple, called Beautiful, to ask a kindness from those entering into the temple,

3who, having seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, was begging to receive a kindness.

4And Peter, having looked stedfastly toward him with John, said, 'Look toward us;'

5and he was giving heed to them, looking to receive something from them;

6and Peter said, 'Silver and gold I have none, but what I have, that I give to thee; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and be walking.'

7And having seized him by the right hand, he raised [him] up, and presently his feet and ankles were strengthened,

8and springing up, he stood, and was walking, and did enter with them into the temple, walking and springing, and praising God;

9and all the people saw him walking and praising God,

10they were knowing him also that this it was who for a kindness was sitting at the Beautiful gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what hath happened to him.

11And at the lame man who was healed holding Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch called Solomon's — greatly amazed,

12and Peter having seen, answered unto the people, 'Men, Israelites! why wonder ye at this? or on us why look ye so earnestly, as if by our own power or piety we have made him to walk?

13'The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, did glorify His child Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, he having given judgment to release [him],

14and ye the Holy and Righteous One did deny, and desired a man — a murderer — to be granted to you,

15and the Prince of the life ye did kill, whom God did raise out of the dead, of which we are witnesses;

16and on the faith of his name, this one whom ye see and have known, his name made strong, even the faith that [is] through him did give to him this perfect soundness before you all.

17'And now, brethren, I have known that through ignorance ye did [it], as also your rulers;

18and God, what things before He had declared through the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ should suffer, He did thus fulfil;

19reform ye, therefore, and turn back, for your sins being blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

20and He may send Jesus Christ who before hath been preached to you,

21whom it behoveth heaven, indeed, to receive till times of a restitution of all things, of which God spake through the mouth of all His holy prophets from the age.

22'For Moses, indeed, unto the fathers said — A prophet to you shall the Lord your God raise up out of your brethren, like to me; him shall ye hear in all things, as many as he may speak unto you;

23and it shall be, every soul that may not hear that prophet shall be utterly destroyed out of the people;

24and also all the prophets from Samuel and those following in order, as many as spake, did also foretell of these days.

25'Ye are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant that God made unto our fathers, saying unto Abraham: And in thy seed shall be blessed all the families of the earth;

26to you first, God, having raised up His child Jesus, did send him, blessing you, in the turning away of each one from your evil ways.'
