Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu Hứa Ban cho Đa-vít

1Chúa Hằng Hữu cho Ít-ra-ên hưởng thái bình. Đa-vít không còn phải chinh chiến với các nước lân bang.

2Sau khi dọn vào sống trong cung điện, một hôm Đa-vít nói với Tiên tri Na-than: “Nay ta sống trong cung cất bằng gỗ bá hương, còn Hòm của Đức Chúa Trời lại ở trong một cái lều.”

3Na-than đáp: “Xin vua cứ làm điều mình muốn, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu ở cùng vua.”

4Nhưng đêm hôm ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán với Na-than:

5“Hãy đi và nói với Đa-vít, đầy tớ Ta: ‘Đây là lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Con sẽ cất một cái đền cho Ta ngự sao?

6Vì từ khi Ta đem Ít-ra-ên ra khỏi Ai Cập đến ngày nay, Ta không ngự trong đền thờ. Ta ở trong trại và đi đó đây.

7Trong suốt cuộc hành trình với người Ít-ra-ên, có bao giờ Ta hỏi người lãnh đạo, người nhận lệnh Ta chăn dắt dân rằng: “Tại sao không cất cho Ta một cái đền bằng gỗ bá hương,” hay không?’

8Bây giờ hãy đi và nói cho Đa-vít, đầy tớ Ta: ‘Đây là lời của Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân rằng: Ta đã chọn con làm vua Ít-ra-ên trong lúc con còn đi chăn chiên nơi đồng cỏ.

9Ta đã ở với con trong mọi nơi con đi, Ta đã tiêu diệt tất cả thù nghịch của con trước mặt con. Bây giờ, Ta sẽ làm cho con nổi danh trên đất!

10Ta sẽ chuẩn bị một chỗ ở cho người Ít-ra-ên Ta, họ an cư lạc nghiệp, không còn bị quấy rối nữa. Các dân tộc gian ác sẽ không còn chinh phục họ như ngày xưa,

11ta sẽ cho họ hưởng thái bình. Hơn nữa, Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ xây dựng cho con một triều đại trường tồn.

12Khi con qua đời, con của con sẽ nối ngôi, và Ta sẽ cho vương quốc nó cường thịnh.

13Nó sẽ cất cho Ta một Đền Thờ. Ta sẽ củng cố ngôi nước nó mãi mãi.

14Ta làm Cha nó, nó làm con Ta. Nếu nó có lỗi, thì Ta sẽ trừng phạt như loài người dùng roi dạy con.

15Nhưng Ta vẫn thương xót nó, không bỏ nó như trường hợp Sau-lơ đâu.

16Vậy triều đại và vương quốc con sẽ tồn tại, ngôi con sẽ vững bền mãi mãi.’”

17Na-than thuật cho Đa-vít đúng từng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán trong khải tượng này.

Bài Cầu Nguyện Tạ Ơn của Đa-vít

18Vua Đa-vít đến hầu trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu và cầu nguyện: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, con là ai, gia đình con là gì mà Chúa đưa con lên địa vị này?

19Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao! Như thế Chúa còn cho là chưa đủ sao? Ngài còn nói về tương lai lâu dài về triều đại con. Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, đây đâu phải là cách đối xử của loài người?

20Con còn nói gì hơn nữa? Ôi lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, Chúa biết con.

21Chúa làm những việc trọng đại này và đồng thời tiết lộ cho con hay, chỉ vì Chúa đã hứa và vì đó là những điều Ngài muốn.

22Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, Ngài thật cao cả. Theo điều chúng con đã nghe, ngoài Ngài không có thần nào như Đức Chúa Trời.

23Có dân tộc nào trên đất giống người Ít-ra-ên? Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, một dân tộc mà Ngài đã cứu chuộc làm con dân của Ngài: Chúa đã làm vang Danh Ngài khi Chúa cứu dân Ngài khỏi Ai Cập. Ngài làm những phép lạ vĩ đại và đáng sợ để đuổi các dân tộc và các thần khác trước mặt dân Ngài.

24Chúa chọn Ít-ra-ên làm dân Ngài mãi mãi, và Ngài, Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của họ.

25Và bây giờ, lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời, con xin nhận lời Chúa hứa cho con và dòng dõi con. Chứng thực lời Chúa hứa được dài lâu mãi mãi.

26Xin Danh Chúa được ca tụng muôn đời: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân là Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên!’ Xin cho nhà Đa-vít, là đầy tớ Chúa được vững bền mãi mãi.

27Vì Chúa đã tiết lộ cho đầy tớ Ngài hay rằng, Ngài sẽ xây dựng cho con một triều đại, nên lạy Chúa Toàn Năng, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, con mới dám dâng lên những lời cầu nguyện này.

28Lạy Chúa, Ngài là Đức Chúa Trời, Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao. Lời Ngài là chân lý, và Chúa đã hứa cho đầy tớ Ngài những điều tốt lành.

29Xin Chúa ban phước lành trên triều đại của đầy tớ Ngài, cho được tồn tại trước mặt Ngài mãi mãi. Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, Ngài đã hứa như thế, được Chúa ban phước, triều đại đầy tớ Ngài chắc chắn sẽ hưởng phước lành mãi mãi!”

1And it came to pass when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,

2He said to Nathan the prophet: Dost thou see that I dwell in a house of cedar, and the ark of God is lodged within skins?

3And Nathan said to the king: Go, do all that is in thy heart: because the Lord is with thee.

4But it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

5Go, and say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord: Shalt thou build me a house to dwell in?

6Whereas I have not dwelt in a house from the day that I brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt even to this day: but have walked in a tabernacle, and in a tent.

7In all the places that I have gone through with all the children of Israel, did ever I speak a word to any one of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying: Why have you not built me a house of cedar?

8And now thus shalt thou speak to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: a I took thee out of the pastures from following the sheep to be ruler over my people Israel:

9And I have been with thee wheresoever thou hast walked, and have slain all thy enemies from before thy face: and I have made thee a great man, like unto the name of the great ones that are on the earth.

10And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and I will plant them, and they shall dwell therein, and shall be disturbed no more: neither shall the children of iniquity afflict them any more as they did before,

11From the day that I appointed judges over my people Israel: and I will give thee rest from all thy enemies. And the Lord foretelleth to thee, that the Lord will make thee a house.

12And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13He shall build a house to my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son: and if he commit any iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

15But my mercy I will not take away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before my face.

16And thy house shall be faithful, and thy kingdom for ever before thy face, and thy throne shall be firm for ever.

17According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

18And David went in, and sat before the Lord, and said: Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?

19But yet this hath seemed little in thy sight, O Lord God, unless thou didst also speak of the house of thy servant for a long time to come: for this is the law of Adam, O Lord God.

20And what can David say more unto thee? for thou knowest thy servant, O Lord God:

21For thy word’s sake, and according to thy own heart thou hast done all these great things, so that thou wouldst make it known to thy servant.

22Therefore thou art magnified, O Lord God, because there is none like to thee, neither is there any God besides thee, in all the things that we have heard with our ears.

23And what nation is there upon earth, as thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for them great and terrible things, upon the earth, before the face of thy people, whom thou redeemedst to thyself out of Egypt, from the nations and their gods.

24For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be an everlasting people: and thou, O Lord God, art become their God.

25And now, O Lord God, raise up for ever the word that thou hast spoken, concerning thy servant and concerning his house: and do as thou hast spoken,

26That thy name may be magnified for ever, and it may be said: The Lord of hosts is God over Israel. And the house of thy servant David shall be established before the Lord.

27Because thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, saying: I will build thee a house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer to thee.

28And now, O Lord God, thou art God, and thy words shall be true: for thou hast spoken to thy servant these good things.

29And now begin, and bless the house of thy servant, that it may endure for ever before thee: because thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it, and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
