Lời Sau Cùng của Đa-vít

1Đây là những lời cuối cùng của Đa-vít:“Lời của Đa-vít con trai Gie-sê,một người được cất nhắc lên cao,được Đức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp xức dầu,người viết thánh thi dịu dàng.

2Thần Linh Chúa dùng miệng tôi bảo ban;lời Ngài ở nơi lưỡi tôi.

3Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên phán dạy:Vầng Đá dân ta có lời hay lẽ phải:Người nào cai trị công minh,biết lãnh đạo trong tinh thần tin kính,

4người sẽ như ánh sáng bình minh,vào một ngày trời quang mây tạnh, như ánh dương sau cơn mưa lạnh, làm cỏ non mọc lên xanh mởn.

5Chính gia đình tôi Ngài đã chọn,và kết ước vĩnh viễn với tôi. Mọi điều quy định Chúa không đổi dời.Ngài luôn cứu giúp, cho tôi thành công,như điều tôi ước mong.

6Trái lại, kẻ vô đạo sẽ bị vứt bỏ,như gai gốc, chẳng ai muốn động tay sờ mó.

7Như đồ sắt rỉ hoặc cán thương,bị nhặt hết và đốt tan trong lửa hừng.”

Chiến Sĩ Anh Dũng của Đa-vít

8Sau đây là các chiến sĩ anh dũng trong đội quân Đa-vít: Trước hết là Giô-sép Ba-sê-bết người Tách-kê-môn, còn gọi là A-đô-nô ở Ê-xen, đứng đầu nhóm tam hùng. Ông ta đã giết 800 địch quân trong cùng một trận.

9Người thứ hai là Ê-lê-a-sa, con của Đô-đô người A-hô-hi, một trong ba dũng sĩ đã cùng với Đa-vít cầm chân đạo quân Phi-li-tin để cho người Ít-ra-ên rút lui.

10Ông xông vào chém giết người Phi-li-tin cho đến khi tay rã rời, dính chặt vào cán gươm, và Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ông chiến thắng vẻ vang. Người Ít-ra-ên quay lại theo sau ông, nhưng chỉ để thu chiến lợi phẩm!

11Người thứ ba là Sa-ma, con Hà-ghi, người Ha-ra. Khi quân Phi-li-tin lũ lượt kéo đến Lô-hi, tại một cánh đồng trồng đậu lăng, quân ông bỏ chạy.

12Ông đứng giữa đồng đơn thân cự địch, giết vô số người Phi-li-tin. Và Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ông đại thắng.

13Ba người này (cũng thuộc nhóm ba mươi dũng tướng) đã đến hang đá A-đu-lam theo Đa-vít vào mùa gặt. Lúc ấy quân Phi-li-tin đang đóng quân tại thung lũng Rê-pha-im.

14Còn Đa-vít ở trong đồn, vì quân Phi-li-tin vừa chiếm đóng Bết-lê-hem.

15Đa-vít ước ao rằng: “Ôi, ước gì ta uống được nước giếng bên cổng Bết-lê-hem.”

16Vậy, nhóm Bộ Ba băng đồn Phi-li-tin, múc nước giếng bên cổng thành Bết-lê-hem đem về cho Đa-vít. Nhưng ông không chịu uống, ông đổ nước ra dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.

17Ông nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu ơi! Tôi không uống được, vì nước đây khác nào máu của những người đã liều mạng đến nơi đó múc về.”

Ba Mươi Dũng Sĩ của Đa-vít

18Cũng có A-bi-sai, em Giô-áp, con Xê-ru-gia, là người chỉ huy Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng. Có lần ông múa thương cự 300 địch một lúc, cuối cùng ông giết hết những người đó. Vì thế A-bi-sai tạo được thanh thế ngang với Nhóm Tam Hùng.

19Tuy A-bi-sai được trọng vọng hơn ba vị anh hùng và chỉ huy họ, nhưng vẫn không có chân trong Nhóm Tam Hùng.

20Ngoài ra còn có Bê-na-gia, con của Giê-hô-gia-đa, ở Cáp-xê-ên là một dũng sĩ đã tạo được nhiều thành tích oanh liệt. Ông giết hai người Mô-áp có sức mạnh như sư tử. Một hôm khác, khi tuyết đang rơi, ông xuống một cái hầm gặp sư tử liền giết đi.

21Một hôm khác nữa, trong tay chỉ có một cây gậy, Bê-na-gia đấu với một người Ai Cập khổng lồ, trang bị bằng một cây thương. Ông giật thương khỏi tay người Ai Cập, giết địch bằng khí giới của nó.

22Những thành tích này làm cho tên tuổi Bê-na-gia chẳng kém gì Nhóm Tam Hùng.

23Ông được trọng vọng trong Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng, nhưng không được vào Nhóm Tam Hùng. Đa-vít cử ông chỉ huy đoàn vệ binh.

24Trong Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng gồm có: A-sa-ên, em Giô-áp; Ên-ha-nan, con Đô-đô, ở Bết-lê-hem;

25Sa-ma và Hê-li-ca đều ở Ha-rốt;

26Hê-lết ở Phan-ti; Y-ra, con Y-ke, ở Thê-cô-a;

27A-bi-ê-xe ở A-na-tốt; Mê-bu-nai ở Hu-sa;

28Sanh-môn ở A-hô-hi; Ma-ha-rai ở Nê-tô-pha-tít;

29Hê-lép, con Ba-a-na, ở Nê-tô-pha; Y-tai, con Ri-bai, ở Ghi-bê-a thuộc Bên-gia-min;

30Bê-na-gia ở Phi-ra-thôn; Hi-đai ở suối Ga-ách;

31A-bi-anh-bôn ở A-ra-ba; Ách-ma-vết ở Ba-hu-rim;

32Ê-li-a-ba ở Sa-anh-bôn; các con trai Gia-sen, Giô-na-than;

33Sa-ma và A-hi-am, con Sa-ra, đều ở Ha-ra;

34Ê-li-phê-lết, con A-ha-bai, ở Ma-a-ca; Ê-li-am, con A-hi-tô-phe ở Ghi-lô;

35Hết-rai ở Cát-mên; Pha-rai ở A-ráp;

36Y-ganh, con Na-than ở Xô-ba; Ba-ni ở Gát;

37Xê-lác ở Am-môn; Na-ha-rai ở Bê-ê-rốt, là người mang khí giới cho Giô-áp;

38Y-ra và Ga-rép đều ở Ích-rơ;

39U-ri người Hê-tít. Tổng cộng có ba mươi bảy chiến sĩ anh dũng.

1Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

2The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

4And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

5Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

6¶ But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

7But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

8¶ These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

9And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

10He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

12But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

13And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

14And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

15And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

16And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

17And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

18And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

19Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

20And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

21And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.

22These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

23He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

24Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

25Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

27Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

30Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

31Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

32Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

33Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,

34Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

35Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

36Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

37Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,

38Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,

39Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.
