1And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:

2This is the observance of the victim, which the Lord hath ordained. Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee a red cow of full age, in which there is no blemish, and which hath not carried the yoke:

3And you shall deliver her to Eleazar the priest, who shall bring her forth without the camp, and shall immolate her in the sight of all:

4And dipping his finger in her blood, shall sprinkle it over against the door of the tabernacle seven times,

5And shall burn her in the sight of all, delivering up to the fire her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, and her dung.

6The priest shall also take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet twice dyed, and cast it into the flame, with which the cow is consumed.

7And then after washing his garments, and body, he shall enter into the camp, and shall be unclean until the evening.

8He also that hath burned her, shall wash his garments, and his body, and shall be unclean until the evening.

9And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the cow, and shall pour them forth without the camp in a most clean place, that they may be reserved for the multitude of the children of Israel, and for a water of aspersion: because the cow was burnt for sin.

10And when he that carried the ashes of the cow, hath washed his garments, he shall be unclean until the evening. The children of Israel, and the strangers that dwell among them, shall observe this for a holy thing by a perpetual ordinance.

11He that toucheth the corpse of a man, and is therefore unclean seven days,

12Shall be sprinkled with this water on the third day, and on the seventh, and so shall be cleansed. If he were not sprinkled on the third day, he cannot be cleansed on the seventh.

13Every one that toucheth the corpse of a man, and is not sprinkled with mixture, shall profane the tabernacle of the Lord, and shall perish out of Israel: because he was not sprinkled with the water of expiation, he shall be unclean, and his uncleanness shall remain upon him.

14This is the law of a mall that dieth in a tent: All that go into his tent and all the vessels that are there, shall be unclean seven days.

15The vessel that hath no cover, nor binding over it, shall be unclean.

16If any man in the field touch the corpse of a man that was slain, or that died of himself, or his bone, or his grave, he shall be unclean seven days.

17And they shall take of the ashes of the burning and of the sin offering, and shall pour living waters upon them into a vessel.

18And a man that is clean shall dip hyssop in them, and shall sprinkle therewith all the tent, and all the furniture, and the men that are defiled with touching any such thing:

19And in this manner he that is clean shall purify the unclean on the third and on the seventh day. And being expiated the seventh day, he shall wash both himself and his garments, and be unclean until the evening.

20If any man be not expiated after this rite, his soul shall perish out of the midst of the church: because he hath profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, and was not sprinkled with the water of purification.

21This precept shall be an ordinance for ever. He also that sprinkled the water, shall wash his garments. Every one that shall touch the waters of expiation, shall be unclean until the evening.

22Whatsoever a person toucheth who is unclean, he shall make it unclean: and the person that toucheth any of these things, shall be unclean until the evening.

1ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê và ông A-ha-ron :

2“Đây là quy tắc trong luật mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã truyền : Ngươi hãy bảo con cái Ít-ra-en đưa tới cho ngươi một con bò cái màu hung đỏ, nguyên tuyền, toàn vẹn và chưa bao giờ mang ách.

3Các ngươi sẽ trao nó cho tư tế E-la-da. Người ta sẽ đưa nó ra ngoài trại và sát tế nó trước mặt ông.

4Tư tế E-la-da sẽ lấy ngón tay nhúng vào máu nó mà rảy bảy lần về phía mặt tiền Lều Hội Ngộ.

5Người ta sẽ thiêu con bò trước mắt ông ; da, thịt, máu và phân nó đều đốt hết.

6Và tư tế sẽ lấy gỗ bá hương, hương thảo và chỉ màu đỏ thẫm mà quăng vào giữa con bò đang cháy.

7Sau đó tư tế phải giặt áo, và lấy nước rửa mình cho sạch, rồi trở về trại, tư tế sẽ bị nhiễm uế cho tới chiều.

8Người thiêu con bò ấy cũng phải lấy nước giặt áo và rửa mình cho sạch, và cũng bị nhiễm uế cho tới chiều.

9Một người nào thanh sạch sẽ hốt tro con bò ấy, để ở một nơi thanh sạch, bên ngoài trại. Đối với cộng đồng con cái Ít-ra-en, thì tro đó được dự trữ dùng làm nước tẩy uế. Đó là nghi thức tạ tội.

10Người đã hốt tro con bò cũng phải giặt áo, và cũng bị nhiễm uế cho tới chiều. Đối với con cái Ít-ra-en cũng như với ngoại kiều trú ngụ giữa chúng, thì đó là một quy tắc vĩnh viễn.

11Ai đụng vào người chết, bất cứ người chết này là ai, đều bị nhiễm uế trong bảy ngày liền.

12Ngày thứ ba và thứ bảy, người đó sẽ lấy nước nói trên mà thanh tẩy mình và sẽ được sạch ; nếu người đó không thanh tẩy mình ngày thứ ba và thứ bảy, thì sẽ không được sạch.

13Ai đụng vào người chết –thi thể của một người đã chết– mà không thanh tẩy mình, người đó làm cho Nhà Tạm của ĐỨC CHÚA bị nhiễm uế, người như thế phải bị diệt trừ khỏi Ít-ra-en, vì nó đã không được dội nước tẩy uế. Nó đã bị nhiễm uế, và ô uế vẫn tồn tại nơi nó.

14Đây là luật phải giữ khi có người chết trong lều : ai vào lều cũng như mọi người đang ở trong lều, đều bị nhiễm uế trong bảy ngày liền.

15Mọi bình lọ để mở, không được cột kín, đều bị nhiễm uế.

16Bất cứ ai ở ngoài đồng đụng vào một người bị gươm đâm, một tử thi, hoặc xương người hay là mồ mả, đều bị nhiễm uế trong bảy ngày liền.

17Để thanh tẩy người bị nhiễm uế, người ta sẽ lấy một chút tro của con vật đã được hoả tế làm lễ tạ tội, mà pha với nước lã trong một chiếc bình.

18Rồi một người còn thanh sạch lấy nhành hương thảo nhúng vào nước mà rảy lên lều, lên tất cả các vật dụng cùng mọi người ở đó, lên kẻ đã đụng vào xương cốt, vào người bị gươm đâm, hoặc tử thi hay là mồ mả.

19Ngày thứ ba và thứ bảy, người thanh sạch phải rảy nước lên người bị nhiễm uế ; và ngày thứ bảy người bị nhiễm uế sẽ được sạch tội. Người này phải lấy nước giặt áo và tắm rửa ; đến chiều nó sẽ được sạch.

20Thế nhưng kẻ nào đã bị nhiễm uế mà không chịu tẩy uế, thì nó sẽ bị diệt trừ khỏi công hội, vì nó đã làm cho nơi thánh của ĐỨC CHÚA bị nhiễm uế. Nó đã không được dội nước tẩy uế, nên nó vẫn còn bị nhiễm uế.

21Đó là quy tắc vĩnh viễn cho chúng. Người nào rảy nước tẩy uế thì phải giặt áo mình ; ai đụng vào nước đó sẽ bị nhiễm uế đến chiều.

22Tất cả những gì mà người bị nhiễm uế đụng vào đều bị nhiễm uế ; người nào đụng vào những cái đó cũng bị nhiễm uế cho đến chiều.”
