Deuteronomy

1Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commandment which I command you today.

2It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and coat them with plaster.

3You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over, that you may go in to the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

4It shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall coat them with plaster.

5There you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron tool on them.

6You shall build the LORD your God’s altar of uncut stones. You shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.

7You shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there. You shall rejoice before the LORD your God.

8You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”

9Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silent and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of the LORD your God.

10You shall therefore obey the LORD your God’s voice, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”

11Moses commanded the people the same day, saying,

12“These shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

13These shall stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

14With a loud voice, the Levites shall say to all the men of Israel,

15‘Cursed is the man who makes an engraved or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ All the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’

16‘Cursed is he who dishonors his father or his mother.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

17‘Cursed is he who removes his neighbor’s landmark.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

18‘Cursed is he who leads the blind astray on the road.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

19‘Cursed is he who withholds justice from the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

20‘Cursed is he who lies withhis father’s wife, because he dishonors his father’s bed.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

21‘Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

22‘Cursed is he who lies with his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

23‘Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

24‘Cursed is he who secretly kills his neighbor.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

25‘Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

26‘Cursed is he who doesn’t uphold the words of this law by doing them.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’”

1Môi-se và các trưởng lão truyền lịnh nầy cho dân sự: Hãy giữ gìn mọi điều răn mà ta truyền cho các ngươi ngày nay.

2Khi ngươi đã qua sông Giô-đanh đặng vào xứ mà Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi ban cho ngươi, thì phải dựng những bia đá lớn và thoa vôi.

3Đoạn, khi ngươi đã đi qua sông Giô-đanh, vào xứ mà Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi ban cho, tức là xứ đượm sữa và mật, y như Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ ngươi đã hứa cùng ngươi, thì hãy ghi trên các bia đá đó những lời của luật pháp nầy.

4Vậy, khi các ngươi đã qua sông Giô-đanh rồi, phải dựng những bia đá nầy trên núi Ê-banh, và thoa vôi, y theo lịnh ta truyền cho các ngươi ngày nay.

5Tại nơi ấy, ngươi cũng phải lập một bàn thờ cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi, tức là một bàn thờ bằng đá; chớ nên tra đồ bằng sắt vào nó.

6Ngươi phải lập bàn thờ của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi bằng đá nguyên khối, và trên đó dâng những của lễ thiêu cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi.

7Cũng phải dâng của lễ thù ân, ăn tại đó và vui vẻ trước mặt Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi.

8Ngươi phải ghi trên các bia đá hết thảy lời luật pháp nầy, và khắc cho thật rõ ràng.

9Môi-se và những thầy tế lễ về dòng Lê-vi nói cùng cả Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Hỡi Y-sơ-ra-ên, hãy nín và nghe! Ngày nay, ngươi đã trở nên dân của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi;

10vậy, phải nghe theo tiếng phán của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi và giữ theo những điều răn và luật lệ của Ngài, mà ta truyền cho ngươi ngày nay.

11Ngày đó, Môi-se cũng truyền cho dân sự lịnh nầy:

12Khi các ngươi đi qua sông Giô-đanh rồi, thì Si-mê-ôn, Lê-vi, Giu-đa, Y-sa-ca, Giô-sép, và Bên-gia-min phải đứng trên núi Ga-ri-xim, đặng chúc phước cho dân sự;

13còn Ru-bên, Gát, A-se, Sa-bu-lôn, Đan, và Nép-ta-li phải đứng trên núi Ê-banh, đặng rủa sả.

14Người Lê-vi sẽ cất tiếng nói lớn lên cùng mọi người nam Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà rằng:

15Đáng rủa sả thay người nào làm tượng chạm hay là tượng đúc, là vật gớm ghiếc cho Đức Giê-hô-va, công việc bởi tay người thợ, dựng nó lên trong nơi kín nhiệm! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

16Đáng rủa sả thay người nào khinh bỉ cha mẹ mình! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

17Đáng rủa sả thay người nào dời mộc giới của kẻ lân cận mình! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

18Đáng rủa sả thay người nào làm cho kẻ mù lạc đường! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

19Đáng rủa sả thay người nào làm cong vạy pháp chánh của khách lạ, kẻ mồ côi, và người góa bụa! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

20Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào nằm cùng vợ kế của cha mình! Vì kẻ đó làm nhục cha mình. Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

21Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào nằm cùng một con thú nào! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

22Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào nằm cùng chị em mình, hoặc một cha khác mẹ, hoặc một mẹ khác cha! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

23Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào nằm cùng bà gia mình! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

24Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào đánh trộm người lân cận mình! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

25Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào nhận của hối lộ để giết người vô tội! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!

26Đáng rủa sả thay kẻ nào không giữ các lời của luật pháp nầy để làm theo! Cả dân sự phải đáp: A-men!
