1Người cứng lòng cứng cổ trước lời răn dạysẽ suy sụp thình lình không phương chữa chạy.

2Người liêm chính cai trị, dân chúng hân hoan.Nhưng người ác nắm quyền, dân chúng lầm than.

3Con khôn ngoan khiến cha vui lòng,người nuôi gái điếm phá hoại gia phong.

4Vua công minh, nước cường thịnh,vua tham nhũng, nước mạt vận.

5Ai nịnh bợ hàng xóm láng giềng,là giăng lưới dưới chân.

6Người ác bị tội mình sập bẫy,nhưng người ngay ca hát vui mừng.

7Người ngay tôn trọng quyền lợi của người nghèo khó;còn người ác chẳng biết đến quyền lợi đó.

8Người kiêu cường khua mép làm cả thành náo động xôn xao,người khôn ngoan làm lắng dịu cơn thịnh nộ cuồng bạo.

9Người khôn chẳng cần tranh luận với kẻ dại dột,vì nó sẽ nổi giận, hoặc cười ngạo nghễ không thôi.

10Người trọn vẹn bị bọn khát máu ghen ghét,nhưng được người công chính quý chuộng.

11Người dại để cơn giận mình bùng nổ,nhưng người khôn chế ngự nó.

12Nếu vua nghe lời giả dối, dối gạt,bầy tôi người chỉ là phường gian ác.

13Người nghèo và người giàu đều giống nhau ở điểm này:Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ánh sáng để thấy.

14Vua nào xử công minh cho người nghèo nàn,sẽ được tồn tại với năm tháng.

15Giáo huấn, đòn vọt rèn luyện trẻ thơ,đứa trẻ phóng túng làm nhục mẹ nó.

16Số người ác càng nhiều, tội phạm càng gia tăng,nhưng người công chính sẽ chứng kiến cảnh chúng suy tàn.

17Muốn hưởng hạnh phước và tâm hồn được an tịnh,hãy sửa phạt con mình.

18Nước nào không được Chúa hướng dẫn sẽ bị xáo trộn.Quốc gia nào theo luật lệ Chúa, hạnh phước trường tồn.

19Lời nói suông không đủ điều khiển người giúp việc,vì dù hiểu biết, chưa chắc họ đã lưu tâm.

20Con có thấy người nói quá hấp tấp?Người ngu đần còn khá hơn người nói hấp tấp.

21Nếu nuông chiều người giúp việc từ thuở bé,lớn lên nó sẽ đòi được kể như người thừa kế.

22Người dễ giận suốt ngày gây gổ;người nóng tính lầm lỗi liên miên.

23Tính kiêu căng đưa người xuống dốc,lòng khiêm tốn đem lại vinh dự.

24Người đồng lõa với kẻ trộm, là gây hại cho bản thân.Dù đã thề trước tòa, mà ngậm miệng không tố giác,

25Lo sợ người phàm là một cạm bẫy,tin cậy Chúa sẽ được an toàn.

26Muốn công lý, cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu,đừng mong tìm ân huệ của hoàng gia.

27Người ngay ghét việc gian tà;người gian ghen ghét việc làm của người ngay.

1The man that with a stiff neck despiseth him that reproveth him, shall suddenly be destroyed: and health shall not follow him.

2When just men increase, the people shall rejoice: when the wicked shall bear rule, the people shall mourn.

3A man that loveth wisdom, rejoiceth his father: but he that maintaineth bar lots, shall squander away his substance.

4A just king setteth up the land: a covetous man shall destroy it.

5A man that speaketh to his friend with flattering and dissembling words, spreadeth a net for his feet.

6A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.

7The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge.

8Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.

9If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry or laugh, he shall find no rest.

10Bloodthirsty men hate the upright: but just men seek his soul.

11A fool uttereth all his mind: a wise man deferreth, and keepeth it till afterwards.

12A prince that gladly heareth lying words, hath all his servants wicked.

13The poor man and the creditor have met one another: the Lord is the enlightener of them both.

14The king that judgeth the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for ever.

15The rod and reproof give wisdom: but the child that is left to his own will bringeth his mother to shame.

16When the wicked are multiplied, crimes shall be multiplied: but the just shall see their downfall.

17Instruct thy son, and he shall refresh thee, and shall give delight to thy soul.

18When prophecy shall fail, the people shall be scattered abroad: but he that keepeth the law is blessed.

19A slave will not be corrected by words: because he understandeth what thou sayest, and will not answer.

20Hast thou seen a man hasty to speak? folly is rather to be looked for, than his amendment.

21He that nourisheth his servant delicately from his childhood, afterwards shall find him stubborn.

22A passionate man provoketh quarrels: and he that is easily stirred up to wrath, shall be more prone to sin.

23Humiliation followeth the proud: and glory shall uphold the humble of spirit.

24He that is partaker with a thief, hateth his own soul: he heareth one putting him to his oath, and discovereth not.

25He that feareth man, shall quickly fall: he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be set on high.

26Many seek the face of the prince: but the judgment of every one cometh forth from the Lord.

27The just abhor the wicked man: and the wicked loathe them that are in the right way. The son that keepeth the word, shall be free from destruction.
