Chúa Được Xức Dầu tại Bê-tha-ni

1Còn hai ngày nữa đến lễ Vượt Qua và lễ Bánh Không Men—các thầy trưởng tế và thầy dạy luật tìm cơ hội bắt giữ Chúa Giê-xu và bí mật giết.

2Họ cùng đồng ý: “Không làm trong ngày lễ Vượt Qua, để khỏi gây náo động trong dân chúng.”

3Lúc ấy, Chúa Giê-xu đến nhà Si-môn, một người phong hủi tại Bê-tha-ni. Giữa bữa ăn, một phụ nữ bước vào, mang theo bình ngọc thạch đựng dầu cam tùng đắt tiền. Bà mở nắp đổ dầu trên đầu Ngài.

4Có người trông thấy, tức giận bảo: “Thật phí của! Bình dầu thơm này rất quý giá!

5Sao bà không bán bình này giá hơn một năm tiền lương,và đem tiền ấy giúp người nghèo!” Rồi họ nặng lời quở trách bà.

6Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu can thiệp: “Để mặc người, đừng la rầy! Người đã làm một việc tốt đẹp cho Ta.

7Các con luôn luôn gặp người nghèo, có thể giúp đỡ họ khi nào tùy ý, nhưng các con không ở bên Ta mãi.

8Người này đã hết sức cố gắng, xức dầu tẩm liệm thân Ta trước khi chôn cất.

9Ta cho các con biết, việc làm của người phụ nữ hôm nay sẽ được nhắc nhở ca tụng khắp thế giới, tại những nơi Phúc Âm được truyền bá.”

Giu-đa Đồng Ý Phản Chúa Giê-xu

10Sau đó, Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt, một trong mười hai sứ đồ, đến tiếp xúc với các thầy trưởng tế bàn mưu nộp Chúa Giê-xu cho họ.

11Nghe Giu-đa đề nghị, họ rất mừng rỡ, hứa sẽ thưởng tiền. Vậy, Giu-đa lo tìm cơ hội nộp Chúa Giê-xu.

Bữa Tiệc Cuối Cùng

12Ngày đầu của lễ Bánh Không Men, khi chiên con bị giết cho lễ Vượt Qua, các môn đệ đến hỏi Chúa: “Thầy muốn ăn lễ Vượt Qua tại đâu? Xin Thầy chỉ bảo để chúng con sửa soạn.”

13Chúa Giê-xu liền sai hai môn đệ đến Giê-ru-sa-lem và căn dặn: “Các con vào thành, sẽ gặp một người xách vò nước; người ấy đi đâu, cứ theo đó.

14Khi vào nhà, các con nói với chủ nhà: ‘Thầy hỏi: Phòng dành riêng cho Ta và các môn đệ ăn lễ Vượt Qua ở đâu?’

15Chủ nhà sẽ chỉ cho các con một phòng rộng trên lầu, trang bị đầy đủ. Các con cứ dọn tiệc tại đó.”

16Hai môn đệ ra đi, gặp mọi điều đúng như lời Chúa dặn, và chuẩn bị lễ Vượt Qua.

17Tối hôm đó, Chúa Giê-xu và mười hai sứ đồ cùng đến.

18Khi mọi người đang ngồi ăn, Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Ta quả quyết, một người trong các con sẽ phản Ta.”

19Các môn đệ rất buồn bực, lần lượt hỏi: “Thưa Thầy, có phải con không?”

20Chúa đáp: “Đó là một trong số mười hai người các con, là người đang nhúng bánh vào đĩa với Ta.

21Vì Con Ngườiphải hy sinh như lời Thánh Kinh đã nói. Nhưng khốn cho kẻ phản Con Người, thà nó chẳng sinh ra còn hơn!”

22Khi đang ăn, Chúa lấy bánh, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời rồi bẻ ra trao cho các môn đệ: “Đây là thân thể Ta, các con hãy lấy ăn!”

23Ngài cũng rót nước nho, cảm tạ rồi đưa cho các môn đệ cùng uống.

24Chúa giải thích: “Đây là máu Ta, máu đổ ra cho nhiều người, để ấn chứng giao ước mới giữa Đức Chúa Trời và nhân loại.

25Ta cho các con biết: Ta sẽ không uống nước nho này nữa cho đến ngày uống nước nho mới trong Nước của Đức Chúa Trời.”

26Hát thánh ca xong, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi lên núi Ô-liu.

Chúa Giê-xu Báo Trước Phi-e-rơ Chối Ngài

27Chúa Giê-xu nói với các môn đệ: “Các con sẽ lìa bỏ Ta như Thánh Kinh đã viết:‘Ta sẽ đánh Người Chăn,và bầy chiên sẽ chạy tan tác.’

28Nhưng sau khi Ta sống lại từ cõi chết, Ta sẽ qua xứ Ga-li-lê trước để gặp các con tại đó.”

29Phi-e-rơ thưa: “Con sẽ chẳng xa Thầy, dù mọi người bỏ chạy!”

30Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ta quả quyết với con, Phi-e-rơ—đêm nay, trước khi gà gáy lần thứ hai, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần.”

31Nhưng Phi-e-rơ cam kết: “Con thà chết chứ không chối Thầy đâu!” Các môn đệ khác cũng đều quả quyết như thế.

Chúa Giê-xu Cầu Nguyện trong Vườn Ghết-sê-ma-nê

32Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ vào vườn ô-liu gọi là Ghết-sê-ma-nê, Ngài bảo họ: “Các con ngồi đây, trong khi Ta đi và cầu nguyện.”

33Chúa chỉ đem Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng theo Ngài. Từ lúc đó, Ngài cảm thấy bối rối, sầu não vô cùng.

34Ngài nói: “Linh hồn Ta buồn rầu tột độ!Các con ở đây và thức canh với Ta.”

35Chúa đi một quãng, rồi quỳ sấp dưới đất, cầu xin cho giờ phút khủng khiếp đừng đến với Ngài nếu có thể được.

36Ngài cầu nguyện: “Thưa Cha, Cha có quyền làm mọi việc, xin cho Con khỏi uống chén này, nhưng xin theo ý Cha, chứ không theo ý Con.”

37Khi trở lại, Chúa thấy các môn đệ đang ngủ gục. Ngài gọi Phi-e-rơ: “Si-môn, con ngủ sao? Con không thức với Ta được một giờ sao?

38Phải tỉnh thức và cầu nguyện để khỏi sa vào vòng cám dỗ. Vì tâm linh thật muốn, nhưng thể xác yếu đuối.”

39Chúa Giê-xu lại đi và cầu xin như lần trước.

40Lần này quay lại, Chúa thấy các môn đệ vẫn ngủ, mắt nhắm nghiền, không đối đáp gì được.

41Trở lại lần thứ ba, Chúa bảo họ: “Bây giờ các con vẫn còn ngủ sao? Đủ rồi! Đã đến lúc Con Người bị phản nộp vào tay bọn gian ác.

42Đứng dậy, đi với Ta. Kìa, kẻ phản Ta đã tới!”

Chúa Giê-xu Bị Phản và Bị Bắt

43Ngay khi Chúa Giê-xu đang nói, Giu-đa, một trong mười hai sứ đồ, xông đến. Theo sau là một toán người cầm gươm dao, gậy gộc, do các thầy trưởng tế, các thầy dạy luật, và các trưởng lão sai đến.

44Tên phản Chúa đã ra ám hiệu: “Tôi hôn người nào, các anh cứ bắt dẫn đi!”

45Vì vậy, vừa đến nơi, Giu-đa trân tráo xông lên chào Chúa: “Lạy Thầy!” Rồi nó hôn Chúa.

46Bọn kia liền bắt giữ Chúa Giê-xu.

47Nhưng có một người đứng gần đó rút gươm chém đầy tớ của thầy thượng tế, đứt mất một vành tai.

48Chúa Giê-xu hỏi họ: “Ta đâu phải trộm cướp mà các ông đem gươm dao, gậy gộc đến bắt?

49Hằng ngày Ta vẫn ở với các ông, giảng dạy trong Đền Thờ, sao các ông không bắt Ta? Nhưng những việc này xảy ra để làm ứng nghiệm lời tiên tri trong Thánh Kinh nói về Ta.”

50Tất cả môn đệ đều bỏ Chúa trốn biệt.

51Có một thanh niên đi theo Chúa, chỉ choàng trên người một tấm khăn. Toán người kia túm bắt anh,

52nhưng anh buông tấm khăn, trần truồng chạy trốn.

Chúa Giê-xu Trước Hội Đồng

53Người ta giải Chúa Giê-xu đến dinh thầy thượng tế, nơi các thầy trưởng tế, các trưởng lão, và các thầy dạy luật đã họp mặt đông đủ.

54Phi-e-rơ theo sau Chúa xa xa, cho đến khi vào sân dinh thầy thượng tế. Ông ngồi chung với bọn tuần cảnh, sưởi ấm bên đống lửa.

55Các thầy trưởng tế và cả Hội Đồng Quốc Giatìm bằng chứng để ghép Chúa Giê-xu vào tội tử hình, nhưng không tìm được.

56Nhiều người vu cáo Chúa đủ điều, nhưng lời chứng của họ mâu thuẫn nhau.

57Sau đó, có người đứng lên làm chứng dối rằng:

58“Chúng tôi nghe người này nói: ‘Ta sẽ phá nát Đền Thờ do con người xây cất, rồi trong ba ngày Ta sẽ dựng một Đền Thờ khác, không bởi tay con người.’”

59Ngay điểm này, lời tố cáo của họ cũng không phù hợp nhau.

60Thầy thượng tế đứng dậy giữa hội đồng và hỏi Chúa: “Sao? Anh trả lời thế nào về lời tố cáo đó?”

61Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu vẫn im lặng, không đáp một lời. Thầy thượng tế hỏi tiếp: “Anh có phải là Đấng Mết-si-a, Con của Đấng Phước Lành không?”

62Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Phải, chính Ta.Rồi đây các ông sẽ thấy Con Người ngồi bên phải ngai của Đức Chúa Trời quyền năng,và cỡi mây trời trở lại trần gian.”

63Thầy thượng tế xé áo mình và nói: “Chúng ta cần gì nhân chứng nữa!

64Quý Ngài vừa nghe tận tai lời phạm thượng. Vậy quý ngài quyết định thế nào?” Các lãnh tụ Do Thái đều đồng ý lên án tử hình Chúa Giê-xu.

65Người ta khạc nhổ vào mặt Chúa, bịt mắt Chúa, đánh đấm Ngài rồi nói: “Thử đoán xem, ai vừa đánh anh đó?” Bọn lính canh cũng vả vào mặt Ngài và giải đi.

Phi-e-rơ Chối Chúa Giê-xu

66Phi-e-rơ đang ở ngoài sân, một đầy tớ gái của thầy thượng tế bước đến,

67thấy ông đang ngồi sưởi, lại gần nhìn mặt rồi nói: “Anh cũng là đồ đệcủa Giê-xu, người Na-xa-rét!”

68Nhưng Phi-e-rơ chối: “Chị nói gì tôi không hiểu!” Rồi ông đi ra cổng liền có tiếng gà gáy.

69Chị đầy tớ nhìn thấy, báo cho những người đứng chung quanh: “Anh ấy theo phe Giê-xu đó!”

70Phi-e-rơ liền chối một lần nữa. Một lát sau, những người đứng chung quanh tố Phi-e-rơ: “Đúng rồi! Anh cũng thuộc bọn Giê-xu, vì anh là người Ga-li-lê.”

71Phi-e-rơ liền thề độc: “Tôi không biết người mấy ông nói đó là ai cả! Nếu tôi dối, xin sự rủa sả giáng trên tôi.”

72Vừa lúc ấy, gà gáy lần thứ hai. Phi-e-rơ sực nhớ lại lời Chúa Giê-xu: “Trước khi gà gáy lần thứ hai, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần!” Ông liền thổn thức khóc.

1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

3¶ And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6And Jesus said,Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

8She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

10¶ And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.

11And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

12¶ And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

13And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them,Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

17And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

18And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said,Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

19And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

20And he answered and said unto them,It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.

21The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

22¶ And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said,Take, eat: this is my body.

23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24And he said unto them,This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26¶ And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

27And Jesus saith unto them,All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

28But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

30And Jesus saith unto him,Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

31But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

32And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples,Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

34And saith unto them,My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36And he said,Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter,Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

39And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

40And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them,Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

42Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

43¶ And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

45And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

46¶ And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

47And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

48And Jesus answered and said unto them,Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

50And they all forsook him, and fled.

51And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:

52And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

53¶ And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

54And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

55And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

59But neither so did their witness agree together.

60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62And Jesus said,I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

66¶ And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

67And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

68But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

69And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

70And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

71But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

72And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him,Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.And when he thought thereon, he wept.
