1“Anh em đừng xét đoán, để khỏi bị Thiên Chúa xét đoán,

2vì anh em xét đoán thế nào, thì anh em cũng sẽ bị Thiên Chúa xét đoán như vậy ; và anh em đong đấu nào, thì Thiên Chúa cũng sẽ đong đấu ấy cho anh em.

3Sao anh thấy cái rác trong con mắt của người anh em, mà cái xà trong con mắt của mình thì lại không để ý tới ?

4Sao anh lại nói với người anh em : ‘Hãy để tôi lấy cái rác ra khỏi mắt bạn’, trong khi có cả một cái xà trong con mắt anh ?

5Hỡi kẻ đạo đức giả ! Lấy cái xà ra khỏi mắt anh trước đã, rồi anh sẽ thấy rõ, để lấy cái rác ra khỏi mắt người anh em.

6“Của thánh, đừng quăng cho chó ; ngọc trai, chớ liệng cho heo, kẻo chúng giày đạp dưới chân, rồi còn quay lại cắn xé anh em.

7“Anh em cứ xin thì sẽ được, cứ tìm thì sẽ thấy, cứ gõ cửa thì sẽ mở ra cho.

8Vì hễ ai xin thì nhận được, ai tìm thì sẽ thấy, ai gõ cửa thì sẽ mở ra cho.

9Có người nào trong anh em, khi con mình xin cái bánh, mà lại cho nó hòn đá ?

10Hoặc nó xin con cá, mà lại cho nó con rắn ?

11Vậy nếu anh em vốn là những kẻ xấu mà còn biết cho con cái mình những của tốt lành, phương chi Cha anh em, Đấng ngự trên trời, lại không ban những của tốt lành cho những kẻ kêu xin Người sao ?

12“Vậy tất cả những gì anh em muốn người ta làm cho mình, thì chính anh em cũng hãy làm cho người ta, vì Luật Mô-sê và lời các ngôn sứ là thế đó.

13“Hãy qua cửa hẹp mà vào, vì cửa rộng và đường thênh thang thì đưa đến diệt vong, mà nhiều người lại đi qua đó.

14Còn cửa hẹp và đường chật thì đưa đến sự sống, nhưng ít người tìm được lối ấy.

15“Anh em hãy coi chừng các ngôn sứ giả, họ đội lốt chiên mà đến với anh em ; nhưng bên trong, họ là sói dữ tham mồi.

16Cứ xem họ sinh hoa quả nào, thì biết họ là ai. Ở bụi gai, làm gì có nho mà hái ? Trên cây găng, làm gì có vả mà bẻ ?

17Nên hễ cây tốt thì sinh quả tốt, cây xấu thì sinh quả xấu.

18Cây tốt không thể sinh quả xấu, cũng như cây xấu không thể sinh quả tốt.

19Cây nào không sinh quả tốt, thì bị chặt đi và quăng vào lửa.

20Vậy, cứ xem họ sinh hoa quả nào, thì biết họ là ai.

21“Không phải bất cứ ai thưa với Thầy : ‘Lạy Chúa ! Lạy Chúa !’ là được vào Nước Trời cả đâu ! Nhưng chỉ ai thi hành ý muốn của Cha Thầy là Đấng ngự trên trời, mới được vào mà thôi.

22Trong ngày ấy, nhiều người sẽ thưa với Thầy rằng : ‘Lạy Chúa, lạy Chúa, nào chúng tôi đã chẳng từng nhân danh Chúa mà nói tiên tri, nhân danh Chúa mà trừ quỷ, nhân danh Chúa mà làm nhiều phép lạ đó sao ?’

23Và bấy giờ Thầy sẽ tuyên bố với họ : Ta không hề biết các ngươi ; *xéo đi cho khuất mắt Ta, hỡi bọn làm điều gian ác !*

24“Vậy ai nghe những lời Thầy nói đây mà đem ra thực hành, thì ví được như người khôn xây nhà trên đá.

25Dù mưa sa, nước cuốn, hay bão táp ập vào, nhà ấy cũng không sụp đổ, vì đã xây trên nền đá.

26Còn ai nghe những lời Thầy nói đây, mà chẳng đem ra thực hành, thì ví được như người ngu dại xây nhà trên cát.

27Gặp mưa sa, nước cuốn hay bão táp ập vào, nhà ấy sẽ sụp đổ, sụp đổ tan tành.”

28Khi Đức Giê-su giảng dạy những điều ấy xong, dân chúng sửng sốt về lời giảng dạy của Người,

29vì Người giảng dạy như một Đấng có thẩm quyền, chứ không như các kinh sư của họ.

1Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you.

3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye?

5Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone;

10or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?

11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.

14For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.

15Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.

16By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:

25and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock.

26And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:

27and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching:

29for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
