1Better a dry morsel in quietnessthan a house full of feastingwith strife.

2A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful sonand share his inheritance as one of the brothers.

3A crucible for silver and a furnace for gold,but the LORD is the tester of hearts.

4A wicked man listens to evil lips;a liar gives ear to a destructive tongue.

7Eloquent words are unfit for a fool;how much worse are lying lips to a ruler!

8A bribe is a charm to its giver;wherever he turns, he succeeds.

10A rebuke cuts into a man of discernmentdeeper than a hundred lashes cut into a fool.

11An evil man seeks only rebellion;a cruel messenger will be sent against him.

7Lời tốt lành không xứng với kẻ ngu; Môi miệng giả dối lại càng ít xứng cho vua chúa thay.

8Của hối lộ giống như viên ngọc quí trước mặt ai được nó; Dầu nó xây trở phía nào, cũng được may mắn.

9Kẻ nào lấp giấu tội lỗi tìm cầu điều tình ái; Còn ai nhắc lập lại điều gì chia rẽ bạn bậu thiết cốt.

10Lời quở trách thấm sâu vào người khôn ngoan, Hơn là trăm roi đánh vào kẻ ngu muội.

11Kẻ gian ác chỉ tìm điều phản nghịch; Vì vậy sẽ sai một sứ giả dữ tợn đi hãm đánh nó.

12Thà người ta gặp gấu cái bị cướp con, Hơn là gặp kẻ ngây dại theo điên cuồng nó.

13Tai họa không hề lìa khỏi nhà Của kẻ lấy ác trả thiện.

17Bằng hữu thương mến nhau luôn luôn; Và anh em sanh ra để giúp đỡ trong lúc hoạn nạn.

18Kẻ ngu muội giao tay, Chịu làm bảo lãnh trước mặt kẻ lân cận mình.

19Ai ưa tranh cạnh ưa tội lỗi; Ai xây cất cửa mình cao kiếm điều hư sập.

20Kẻ nào có lòng vày vò không tìm được phước hạnh; Và ai có lưỡi gian tà sẽ sa vào tai hại.

21Ai sanh con ngu muội ắt sẽ có buồn rầu; Còn cha của kẻ ngây dại chẳng được vui vẻ.

22Lòng vui mừng vốn một phương thuốc hay; Còn trí nao sờn làm xương cốt khô héo.

23Người gian ác lãnh nhẹm của hối lộ, Đặng làm sai lệch các lối xét đoán.

24Có sự khôn ngoan trước mặt người thông sáng; Song con mắt kẻ ngu muội ở nơi địa cực.

25Con ngu muội là một điều buồn rầu cho cha, Và một sự cay đắng cho mẹ đã sanh đẻ nó.

26Lấy làm chẳng tốt mà phạt vạ người công bình, Hay là đánh người tước vị vì cớ lòng ngay thẳng của họ.

27Người nào kiêng lời nói mình có tri thức; Còn người có tánh ôn hàn là một người thông sáng.

28Khi nín lặng, dầu người ngu dại, cũng được cầm bằng khôn ngoan; Còn kẻ nào ngậm môi miệng mình lại được kể là thông sáng.
