Feasts and Sabbaths

1Then the LORD said to Moses,

2“Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘These are My appointed feasts, the feasts of the LORD that you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.

3For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a day of sacred assembly. You must not do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.

Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread

4These are the LORD’s appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times.

5The Passover to the LORD begins at twilight on the fourteenthday of the first month.

6On the fifteenth day of the same month begins the Feast of Unleavened Breadto the LORD. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

7On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly; you are not to do any regular work.

8For seven days you are to present a food offering to the LORD. On the seventh day there shall be a sacred assembly; you must not do any regular work.’”

The Feast of Firstfruits

9And the LORD said to Moses,

10“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘When you enter the land that I am giving you and you reap its harvest, you are to bring to the priest a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest.

11And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD so that it may be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.

12On the day you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a year-old lamb without blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD,

13along with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flourmixed with oil—a food offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter hin of wine.

14You must not eat any bread or roasted or new grain until the very day you have brought this offering to your God. This is to be a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live.

The Feast of Weeks

15From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, you are to count off seven full weeks.

16You shall count off fifty days until the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.

17Bring two loaves of bread from your dwellings as a wave offering, each made from two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with leaven, as the firstfruits to the LORD.

18Along with the bread you are to present seven unblemished male lambs a year old, one young bull, and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

19You shall also prepare one male goat as a sin offering and two male lambs a year old as a peace offering.

20The priest is to wave the lambs as a wave offering before the LORD, together with the bread of the firstfruits. The bread and the two lambs shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.

21On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly, and you must not do any regular work. This is to be a permanent statute wherever you live for the generations to come.

22When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap all the way to the edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident. I am the LORD your God.’”

The Feast of Trumpets

23The LORD also said to Moses,

24“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly announced by trumpet blasts.

25You must not do any regular work, but you are to present a food offering to the LORD.’”

The Day of Atonement

26Again the LORD said to Moses,

27“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You shall hold a sacred assembly and humble yourselves,and present a food offering to the LORD.

28On this day you are not to do any work, for it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God.

29If anyone does not humble himself on this day, he must be cut off from his people.

30I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on this day.

31You are not to do any work at all. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live.

32It will be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to keep your Sabbath.”

The Feast of Tabernacles

33And the LORD said to Moses,

34“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Feast of Tabernaclesto the LORD begins, and it continues for seven days.

35On the first day there shall be a sacred assembly. You must not do any regular work.

36For seven days you are to present a food offering to the LORD. On the eighth day you are to hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you must not do any regular work.

37These are the LORD’s appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for presenting food offerings to the LORD—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its designated day.

38These offerings are in addition to the offerings for the LORD’s Sabbaths, and in addition to your gifts, to all your vow offerings, and to all the freewill offerings you give to the LORD.

39On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the produce of the land, you are to celebrate a feast to the LORD for seven days. There shall be complete rest on the first day and also on the eighth day.

40On the first day you are to gather the fruit of majestic trees, the branches of palm trees, and the boughs of leafy trees and of willowsof the brook. And you are to rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.

41You are to celebrate this as a feast to the LORD for seven days each year. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come; you are to celebrate it in the seventh month.

42You are to dwell in boothsfor seven days. All the native-born of Israel must dwell in booths,

43so that your descendants may know that I made the Israelites dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’”

44So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the LORD.

1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: These are the feasts of the Lord, which you shall call holy.

3Six days shall ye do work: the seventh day, because it is the rest of the sabbath, shall be called holy. You shall do no work on that day: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your habitations.

4These also are the holy days of the Lord, which you must celebrate in their seasons.

5The first month, the fourteenth day of the month at evening, is the phase of the Lord:

6And the fifteenth day of the same month is the solemnity of the unleavened bread of the Lord. Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread.

7The first day shall be most solemn unto you, and holy: you shall do no servile work therein:

8But you shall offer sacrifice in fire to the Lord seven days. And the seventh day shall be more solemn, and more holy: and you shall do no servile work therein.

9And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

10Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: When you shall have entered into the land which I will give you, and shall reap your corn, you shall bring sheaves of ears, the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest:

11Who shall lift up the shed before the Lord, the next day after the sabbath, that it may be acceptable for you, and shall sanctify it.

12And on the same day that the sheaf is consecrated, a lamb without blemish of the first year shall be killed for a holocaust of the Lord.

13And the libations shall be offered with it, two tenths of hour tempered with oil for a burnt offering of the Lord, and a most sweet odour: libations also of wine, the fourth part of a hin.

14You shall not eat either bread, or parched corn, or frumenty of the harvest, until the day that you shall offer thereof to your God. It is a precept for ever throughout your generations, and all your dwellings.

15You shall count therefore from the morrow after the sabbath, wherein you offered the sheaf of the firstfruits, seven full weeks.

16Even unto the marrow after the seventh week be expired, that is to say, fifty days, and so you shall offer a new sacrifice to the Lord.

17Out of all your dwellings, two leaves of the firstfruits, of two tenths of flour leavened, which you shall bake for the firstfruits of the Lord.

18And you shall offer with the leaves seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one calf from the herd, and two rams, and they shall be for a holocaust with their libations far a most sweet odour to the Lord.

19You shall offer also a buck goat for sin, and two lambs of the first year for sacrifices of peace offerings.

20And when the priest hath lifted them up with the leaves of the firstfruits before the Lord, they shall fall to his use.

21And you shall call this day most solemn, and most holy. You shall do no servile work therein. It shall be an everlasting ordinance in all your dwellings and generations.

22And when you reap the corn of your land, you shall not cut it to the very ground: neither shall you gather the ears that remain; but you shall leave them for the poor and for the strangers. I am the Lord your God.

23And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

24Say to the children of Israel: The seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall keep a sabbath, a memorial, with she sound of trumpets, and it shall be called holy.

25You shall do no servile work therein, and you shall offer a holocaust to the Lord.

26And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

27Upon the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the day of atonement, it shall be most solemn, and shall be called holy: and you shall afflict your souls on that day, and shall offer a holocaust to the Lord.

28You shall do no servile work in the time of this day: because it is a day of propitiation, that the Lord your God may be merciful unto you.

29Every soul that is not afflicted on this day, shall perish from among his people:

30And every soul that shall do any work, the same will I destroy from among his people.

31You shall do no work therefore on that day: it shall be an everlasting ordinance unto you in all your generations, and dwellings.

32It is a sabbath of rest, and you shell afflict your souls beginning on the ninth day of the month: from evening until evening you shall celebrate your sabbaths.

33And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

34Say to the children of Israel: From the fifteenth day of this same seventh month, shall be kept the feast of tabernacles seven days to the Lord.

35The first day shall be called most solemn and most holy: you shall do no servile work therein. And seven days you shall offer holocausts to the Lord.

36The eighth day also shall be most solemn and most holy, and you shall offer holocausts to the Lord: for it is the day of assembly and congregation: you shall do no servile work therein.

37These are the feasts of the Lord, which you shall call most solemn and most holy, and shall offer on them oblations to the Lord, holocausts and libations according to the rite of every day,

38Besides the sabbaths of the Lord, and your gifts, and those things that you offer by vow, or which you shall give to the Lord voluntarily.

39So from the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you shall have gathered in all the fruits of your land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord seven days: on the first day and the eighth shall be a sabbath, that is a day of rest.

40And you shall take to you on the first day the fruits of the fairest tree, and branches of palm trees, and boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God.

41And you shall keep the solemnity thereof seven days in the year. It shall be an everlasting ordinance in your generations. In the seventh month shall you celebrate this feast.

42And you shall dwell in bowers seven days: every one that is of the race of Israel, shall dwell in tabernacles:

43That your posterity may know, that I made the children of Israel to dwell in tabernacles, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

44And Moses spoke concerning the feasts of the Lord to the children of Israel.
