Revelation

1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and I saw out of the sea a beast coming up, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads a name of evil speaking,

2and the beast that I saw was like to a leopard, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon did give to it his power, and his throne, and great authority.

3And I saw one of its heads as slain to death, and its deadly stroke was healed, and all the earth did wonder after the beast,

4and they did bow before the dragon who did give authority to the beast, and they did bow before the beast, saying, 'Who [is] like to the beast? who is able to war with it?'

5And there was given to it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was given to it authority to make war forty-two months,

6and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,

7and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.

8And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;

9if any one hath an ear — let him hear:

10if any one a captivity doth gather, into captivity he doth go away; if any one by sword doth kill, it behoveth him by sword to be killed; here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

11And I saw another beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and it was speaking as a dragon,

12and all the authority of the first beast doth it do before it, and it maketh the land and those dwelling in it that they shall bow before the first beast, whose deadly stroke was healed,

13and it doth great signs, that fire also it may make to come down from the heaven to the earth before men,

14and it leadeth astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that hath the stroke of the sword and did live,

15and there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, that also the image of the beast may speak, and [that] it may cause as many as shall not bow before the image of the beast, that they may be killed.

16And it maketh all, the small, and the great, and the rich, and the poor, and the freemen, and the servants, that it may give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon their foreheads,

17and that no one may be able to buy, or to sell, except he who is having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18Here is the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let him count the number of the beast, for the number of a man it is, and its number [is] six hundred and sixty six.

1Bấy giờ tôi thấy một Con Thú từ dưới biển đi lên ; nó có mười sừng và bảy đầu ; trên mười sừng đều có vương miện, và trên các đầu có danh hiệu xúc phạm đến Thiên Chúa.

2Con Thú tôi trông thấy thì giống như con báo, chân nó như chân gấu, mõm như mõm sư tử. Con Mãng Xà ban cho nó quyền năng và ngai báu của mình cũng như một quyền hành lớn lao.

3Một trong các đầu của nó dường như đã bị giết chết, nhưng vết tử thương của nó đã được chữa lành. Bấy giờ toàn thể cõi đất thán phục đi theo Con Thú.

4Họ thờ lạy Con Mãng Xà vì nó đã ban quyền hành cho Con Thú, và họ cũng thờ lạy Con Thú mà rằng : “Ai sánh được với Con Thú và ai có thể giao chiến với Con Thú ?”

5Nó đã được ban cho một cái mồm ăn nói huênh hoang và phạm thượng, và được ban cho quyền hành động trong vòng bốn mươi hai tháng.

6Nó mở miệng nói phạm đến Thiên Chúa, đến danh Người, đến lều thánh của Người, và những đấng ở trên trời.

7Nó được phép giao chiến với dân thánh và thắng họ, và nó được ban quyền trên mọi chi tộc, mọi nước, mọi ngôn ngữ và mọi dân.

8Mọi người sống trên mặt đất sẽ thờ lạy nó ; đó là những người từ thuở tạo thiên lập địa không được ghi tên trong Sổ Trường Sinh của Con Chiên đã bị giết.

9Ai có tai thì hãy nghe.

10Ai phải đi đày thì đi đày, ai phải chết vì gươm thì sẽ chết vì gươm. Đây là lúc dân thánh cần phải có lòng kiên nhẫn và đức tin.

11Tôi thấy một Con Thú khác từ đất đi lên. Nó có hai sừng giống như sừng chiên, và nói năng như một Con Mãng Xà.

12Nó thi hành tất cả quyền bính của Con Thú thứ nhất, trước mặt Con Thú ấy, và làm cho đất, cũng như những người sống trên mặt đất, thờ lạy Con Thú thứ nhất, mà vết tử thương đã được chữa lành.

13Nó làm những dấu lạ lớn lao, khiến cho ngay cả lửa từ trời cũng rơi xuống đất trước mặt người ta.

14Nhờ các dấu lạ mà nó được quyền làm trước mặt Con Thú, nó mê hoặc những người sống trên mặt đất, bảo họ tạc tượng thờ Con Thú mang vết thương gươm đâm mà nay đã hồi sinh.

15Nó được quyền thổi thần khí vào tượng Con Thú, khiến tượng Con Thú cũng nói được và ra lệnh giết những ai không thờ lạy mình.

16Nó bắt mọi người, không phân biệt lớn nhỏ, giàu nghèo, tự do hay nô lệ, phải thích dấu trên tay hữu hoặc trên trán.

17Không ai có thể mua bán, nếu không mang dấu thích đó, tức là tên Con Thú hoặc con số tương đương với tên nó.

18Đây là lúc cần phải có sự khôn ngoan. Ai có trí thông minh hãy tính ra số của tên Con Thú, vì đó là số của tên một người, và số của tên người ấy là sáu trăm sáu mươi sáu.
