2 Chronicles

1And Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,

2and putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.

3And Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

4for to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

5And Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,

6and his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.

7And in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,

8and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9And they teach in Judah, and with them [is] the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.

10And here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;

11and of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.

12And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,

13and he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, [are] in Jerusalem.

14And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.

15And at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.

16And at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.

17And of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.

18And at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.

19These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.

1Giô-sa-phát, con trai A-sa, cai trị thế cho người; người làm cho nước mình ra mạnh để nghịch cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên,

2đặt những cơ binh nơi các thành bền vững của Giu-đa, lập đồn trong xứ Giu-đa và trong các thành Eùp-ra-im, mà A-sa, cha người, đã chiếm lấy.

3Đức Giê-hô-va ở cùng Giô-sa-phát, vì người đi theo đường lối đầu tiên của Đa-vít, tổ phụ mình, không tìm cầu thần Ba-anh,

4nhưng tìm cầu Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ mình, giữ theo các điều răn của Ngài, chớ chẳng làm như Y-sơ-ra-ên.

5Vì vậy Đức Giê-hô-va khiến nước vững chắc trong tay người; cả Giu-đa dâng lễ vật cho Giô-sa-phát, người được của cải nhiều và sự vinh hiển lớn.

6Người vững lòng theo các đường lối của Đức Giê-hô-va; lại phá dỡ các nơi cao và những thần tượng A-sê-ra khỏi Giu-đa.

7Năm thứ ba đời Giô-sa-phát trị vì, người sai các tôi tớ mình, là Bên-Hai, Ô-ba-đia, Xa-cha-ri, Na-tha-na-ên, và Mi-ca-gia đi dạy dỗ trong các thành xứ Giu-đa;

8có mấy người Lê-vi đi với họ, là Sê-ma-gia, Nê-tha-nia, Xê-ba-đia, A-sa-ên, Sê-mi-ra-mốt, Giô-na-than, A-đô-ni-gia, Tô-bi-gia, và Tô-ba-đô-ni-gia; lại có Ê-li-sa-ma và Giô-ram, hai thầy tế lễ cũng đi nữa;

9chúng có đem theo mình sách luật pháp của Đức Giê-hô-va, đi vòng các thành xứ Giu-đa mà dạy dỗ dân sự.

10Đức Giê-hô-va khiến các nước ở bốn phía của Giu-đa kinh hãi, chẳng dám chinh chiến với Giô-sa-phát.

11Có dân Phi-li-tin đem dâng cho Giô-sa-phát những lễ vật và bạc cống thuế; người A rạp cũng dẫn đến cho người những bầy súc vật: bảy ngàn bảy trăm con chiên đực, và bảy ngàn bảy trăm con dê đực.

12Giô-sa-phát càng ngày càng cường đại, cho đến tột bực. Người xây cất trong xứ Giu-đa những đền đài và thành kho tàng.

13Người có nhiều công việc trong các thành Giu-đa, và tại Giê-ru-sa-lem có những lính chiến mạnh dạn.

14Đây là sổ kể các người ấy tùy theo nhà tổ phụ họ; về Giu-đa, có những quan tướng ngàn người, là Aùt-na làm đầu, người lãnh ba mươi vạn người mạnh dạn;

15kế người có Giô-ha-nan làm đầu, người lãnh hai mươi tám vạn người mạnh dạn;

16sau người này có A-ma-sia, con trai của Xiếc-ri, là người vui lòng dâng mình cho Đức Giê-hô-va, người lãnh hai mươi vạn người mạnh dạn.

17Về Bên-gia-min có Ê-li-a-đa, là người mạnh dạn, người lãnh hai mươi vạn quân cầm cung và khiên;

18kế người có Giê-hô-xa-bát, người lãnh mười tám vạn binh đều sắm sửa ra trận.

19Đó là những người giúp việc vua, trừ ra những người mà vua đã đặt trong các thành bền vững khắp xứ Giu-đa.
