2 Kings

1Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.

2He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, after the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

3For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he raised up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel did, and worshipped all the army of the sky, and served them.

4He built altars in the LORD’s house, of which the LORD said, “I will put my name in Jerusalem.”

5He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the LORD’s house.

6He made his son to pass through the fire, practised sorcery, used enchantments, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits and with wizards. He did much evil in the LORD’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

7He set the engraved image of Asherah that he had made in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever;

8I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”

9But they didn’t listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do that which is evil more than the nations did whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

10The LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,

11“Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has also made Judah to sin with his idols;

12therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Behold, I will bring such evil on Jerusalem and Judah that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.

13I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plumb line of Ahab’s house; and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.

14I will cast off the remnant of my inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies. They will become a prey and a plunder to all their enemies,

15because they have done that which is evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.’”

16Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; in addition to his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.

17Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

19Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, as Manasseh his father did.

21He walked in all the ways that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them;

22and he abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and didn’t walk in the way of the LORD.

23The servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.

24But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

25Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26He was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza, and Josiah his son reigned in his place.

1Mơ-na-se lên ngôi vua khi được mười hai tuổi, và trị vì năm mươi lăm năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua tên là Khép-xi Va.

2Vua đã làm điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, theo những thói ghê tởm của các dân mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã trục xuất cho khuất mắt con cái Ít-ra-en.

3Vua xây lại những nơi cao mà vua cha là Khít-ki-gia đã phá huỷ ; vua lập các tế đàn kính Ba-an, dựng một cột thờ như vua Ít-ra-en là A-kháp đã làm, sụp lạy toàn thể các thiên binh và phụng thờ chúng.

4Vua xây các tế đàn trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, nơi mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã phán : “Chính ở Giê-ru-sa-lem Ta sẽ đặt Danh Ta.”

5Trong hai sân của Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, vua đã xây các tế đàn kính toàn thể các thiên binh.

6Vua làm lễ thiêu con trai mình, làm nghề chiêm tinh và phù thuỷ, lập ra cô đồng và thầy bói ; vua làm nhiều điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA để trêu giận Người.

7Vua đặt tượng thần A-sê-ra, mà vua đã tạc, trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, Nhà mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã phán với vua Đa-vít và vua Sa-lô-môn, con vua : “Tại Nhà này và ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, nơi Ta đã chọn giữa mọi chi tộc Ít-ra-en, Ta sẽ đặt Danh Ta mãi mãi.

8Ta sẽ không để chân Ít-ra-en phiêu bạt đây đó, xa miền đất Ta đã ban cho tổ tiên chúng, chỉ cần chúng lo làm đúng theo những gì Ta đã truyền cho chúng, và đúng theo tất cả Lề Luật mà Mô-sê, tôi trung của Ta, đã truyền cho chúng.”

9Nhưng họ đã không nghe theo, và vua Mơ-na-se đã làm cho họ lạc đường, khiến họ làm điều dữ hơn cả những nước mà ĐỨC CHÚA đã tiêu diệt trước mặt con cái Ít-ra-en.

10ĐỨC CHÚA đã dùng các ngôn sứ, tôi trung của Người, mà phán :

11“Vì Mơ-na-se, vua Giu-đa, đã làm những điều ghê tởm ấy, vì nó đã hành động tệ hơn cả những người E-mô-ri ở đấy trước nó đã làm, vì nó cũng đã dùng các ngẫu tượng mà lôi kéo Giu-đa phạm tội,

12thì ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của Ít-ra-en, phán thế này : Này đây Ta sẽ giáng xuống Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa một tai hoạ, mà bất cứ ai nghe nói cũng phải ù cả hai tai.

13Ta sẽ san bằng Giê-ru-sa-lem, như đã san bằng Sa-ma-ri và nhà A-kháp ; Ta sẽ vét sạch Giê-ru-sa-lem, như người ta vét sạch đĩa rồi úp xuống sau khi đã vét sạch.

14Ta sẽ từ bỏ gia nghiệp sót lại của Ta ; Ta sẽ nộp chúng vào tay kẻ thù của chúng, chúng sẽ thành mồi, thành chiến lợi phẩm cho mọi kẻ thù của chúng,

15vì chúng đã làm những gì ĐỨC CHÚA coi là xấu, và chúng không ngừng trêu giận Ta từ ngày tổ tiên của chúng ra khỏi đất Ai-cập cho đến ngày nay.”

16Vua Mơ-na-se cũng đã đổ máu người vô tội rất nhiều, đến nỗi máu ấy tràn ngập Giê-ru-sa-lem từ đầu thành đến cuối thành ; đó là không kể đến tội vua đã lôi kéo Giu-đa phạm theo, khi vua làm các điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA.

17Những truyện còn lại của vua Mơ-na-se và mọi việc vua làm, cũng như tội vua đã phạm, tất cả những điều ấy đã chẳng được ghi chép trong sách Sử biên niên các vua Giu-đa đó sao ?

18Vua Mơ-na-se đã an nghỉ với tổ tiên và được chôn cất trong vườn thuộc cung điện vua, vườn của ông Út-da. Con vua là A-môn lên ngôi kế vị.

19A-môn lên làm vua khi được hai mươi hai tuổi, và trị vì hai năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua tên là Mơ-su-le-mét, con gái ông Kha-rút ; bà là người Giót-va.

20Vua đã làm điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, như vua cha là Mơ-na-se.

21Trong mọi sự, vua đã đi theo đường lối của vua cha, đã phụng thờ các ngẫu tượng mà vua cha đã phụng thờ, và sụp lạy chúng.

22Vua đã bỏ ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của tổ tiên, và không đi theo đường lối của ĐỨC CHÚA.

23Các thuộc hạ vua A-môn đã âm mưu chống lại vua và giết chết vua trong cung điện.

24Dân trong xứ hạ sát mọi kẻ đã âm mưu chống lại vua A-môn, và tôn con vua là Giô-si-gia lên ngôi kế vị.

25Những truyện còn lại của vua A-môn, những việc vua làm, đã chẳng được ghi chép trong sách Sử biên niên các vua Giu-đa đó sao ?

26Người ta đã chôn cất vua trong mộ vua, trong vườn của ông Út-da. Con vua là Giô-si-gia lên ngôi kế vị vua cha.
