Sự Phán Xét Tội Lỗi của Đức Chúa Trời

1Thưa anh chị em, khi lên án người khác điều gì, anh chị em cũng tự lên án, vì đã lên án họ mà cũng hành động như họ. Vậy anh chị em chẳng có lý do chạy tội.

2Chúng ta đều biết Đức Chúa Trời sẽ hình phạt những người giả dối ấy trong công lý của Ngài.

3Đã lên án người, lại phạm luật như người, liệu anh chị em có khỏi bị Đức Chúa Trời lên án không?

4Hay anh chị em coi thường lòng nhân từ, khoan dung, nhẫn nại vô biên của Đức Chúa Trời đối với anh chị em? Điều đó không có ý nghĩa nào với anh chị em sao? Hay không nhận thấy Ngài nhân từ vì chờ đợi anh chị em hối cải?

5Ngoan cố, không hối cải là tự dồn chứa hình phạt khủng khiếp cho mình trong ngày đoán phạt của Đức Chúa Trời, khi Ngài dùng công lý xét xử loài người.

6Chúa sẽ thưởng phạt tùy theo công việc mỗi người.

7Người nào bền lòng vâng phục Chúa, tìm kiếm vinh quang, danh dự, và những giá trị vĩnh cửu, sẽ được sự sống đời đời.

8Còn người nào vị kỷ, chối bỏ chân lý, đi theo đường gian tà, sẽ bị hình phạt; Đức Chúa Trời sẽ trút cơn giận của Ngài trên họ.

9Tai ương, thống khổ sẽ giáng trên những người làm ác, trước cho người Do Thái, sau cho dân ngoại.

10Nhưng vinh quang, danh dự, bình an dành sẵn cho người vâng phục Đức Chúa Trời, trước cho người Do Thái, sau cho dân ngoại,

11vì Đức Chúa Trời không thiên vị ai.

12Dân ngoại phạm tội khi chưa biết luật pháp Môi-se, sẽ bị hình phạt, nhưng không chiếu theo luật ấy. Người Do Thái biết luật pháp của Đức Chúa Trời mà phạm tội sẽ bị xét xử theo luật pháp.

13Vì không phải người biết luật pháp được kể là công chính, nhưng người vâng giữ luật pháp.

14Khi dân ngoại không có luật pháp, theo bản tính làm những điều luật pháp đòi hỏi, hành động theo bản tính là luật pháp của họ.

15Việc này chứng tỏ các nguyên tắc luật pháp đã được ghi vào lòng họ, lương tâm cũng làm chứng khi lên tiếng buộc tội hay biện hộ.

16Theo Phúc Âm tôi truyền giảng, đến ngày Đức Chúa Trời đã định, Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu sẽ xét xử mọi tư tưởng, hành động kín đáo của loài người.

Người Do Thái và Kinh Luật

17Anh chị em tự hào là người Do Thái, ỷ lại luật pháp Môi-se, khoe mình là dân Đức Chúa Trời.

18Anh chị em tự phụ vì biết được ý muốn Ngài, biết phân biệt phải quấy nhờ học hỏi luật pháp.

19Anh chị em kiêu hãnh tự nhận là người dẫn đường người khiếm thị, ánh sáng cho người đi trong đêm tối,

20là giáo sư của người thất học và trẻ con, vì anh chị em thông thạo luật pháp, tinh hoa của trí thức và chân lý.

21Do đó, anh chị em ưa dạy dỗ người khác, nhưng sao không tự sửa dạy? Anh chị em bảo người ta đừng trộm cắp, sao anh chị em còn trộm cắp?

22Anh chị em cấm người khác ngoại tình, sao anh chị em vẫn ngoại tình? Anh chị em không cho thờ lạy thần tượng, sao anh chị em ăn trộm đồ thờ?

23Anh chị em tự hào hiểu biết luật pháp Đức Chúa Trời, sao còn phạm luật để làm nhục Danh Ngài?

24Thật đúng như lời Thánh Kinh: “Dân ngoại xúc phạm Danh Đức Chúa Trời vì các ngươi.”

25Người Do Thái chịu cắt bì chỉ có ý nghĩa nếu tôn trọng luật pháp Đức Chúa Trời. Nếu không vâng giữ luật pháp Đức Chúa Trời, thì cũng không hơn gì dân ngoại không chịu cắt bì.

26Nếu người không chịu cắt bì vâng giữ luật pháp, lẽ nào Đức Chúa Trời chẳng xem họ như dân tộc của Ngài sao?

27Và chính họ—những người thật sự không chịu cắt bì nhưng biết tôn trọng luật pháp—sẽ lên án anh em là người Do Thái chịu cắt bì và có luật pháp hẳn hoi nhưng không chịu vâng giữ.

28Người chỉ có hình thức Do Thái không phải là Do Thái thật; lễ cắt bì chỉ theo nghi thức bên ngoài không phải lễ cắt bì chân chính.

29Người Do Thái thật phải có tâm hồn Do Thái cũng như lễ cắt bì thật là sự đổi mới tâm hồn do Thánh Linh Đức Chúa Trời, không phải chỉ theo lễ nghi, luật pháp. Người như thế sẽ được chính Đức Chúa Trời khen ngợi, không phải loài người.

1Wherefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself. For thou dost the same things which thou judgest.

2For we know that the judgment of God is, according to truth, against them that do such things.

3And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and dost the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

4Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and patience, and longsuffering? Knowest thou not, that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?

5But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath, and revelation of the just judgment of God.

6Who will render to every man according to his works.

7To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life:

8But to them that are contentious, and who obey not the truth, but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation.

9Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek.

10But glory, and honour, and peace to every one that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

11For there is no respect of persons with God.

12For whosoever have sinned without the law, shall perish without the law; and whosoever have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law.

13For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

14For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these having not the law are a law to themselves:

15Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them, and their thoughts between themselves accusing, or also defending one another,

16In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

17But if thou art called a Jew and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

18And knowest his will, and approvest the more profitable things, being instructed by the law,

19Art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,

20An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law.

21Thou therefore that teachest another, teachest not thyself: thou that preachest that men should not steal, stealest:

22Thou that sayest, men should not commit adultery, committest adultery: thou that abhorrest idols, committest sacrilege:

23Thou that makest thy boast of the law, by transgression of the law dishonourest God.

24(For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)

25Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

26If, then, the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, shall not this uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

27And shall not that which by nature is uncircumcision, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?

28For it is not he is a Jew, who is so outwardly; nor is that circumcision which is outwardly in the flesh:

29But he is a Jew, that is one inwardly; and the circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
