2 Peter

1Trong dân cũng đã từng xuất hiện những ngôn sứ giả ; giữa anh em cũng vậy, sẽ có những thầy dạy giả hiệu, đó là những kẻ sẽ lén lút đưa vào những tà thuyết dẫn tới diệt vong. Vì chối bỏ vị Chúa Tể đã chuộc họ về, họ sẽ mau chóng chuốc lấy hoạ diệt vong.

2Nhiều người sẽ học đòi các trò dâm đãng của họ, và vì họ, con đường sự thật sẽ bị phỉ báng.

3Vì tham lam, họ dùng lời lẽ gạt gẫm anh em để trục lợi. Án phạt họ đã sẵn sàng từ lâu, và hoạ diệt vong đã gần kề.

4Thật vậy, Thiên Chúa không dung thứ cho các thiên thần có tội, nhưng đã đẩy họ vào hố Địa Ngục tối tăm, giữ họ để chờ cuộc phán xét.

5Người không dung thứ cho thế giới cũ, nhưng khi trút hồng thuỷ xuống trên thế giới của những kẻ vô luân, Người đã cứu sống tám mạng, trong số đó có ông Nô-ê, kẻ rao giảng sự công chính.

6Người thiêu ra tro các thành Xơ-đôm và Gô-mô-ra, lên án huỷ diệt hai thành đó để làm gương cho những kẻ vô luân thời sau ;

7Người cứu ông Lót, kẻ công chính, đang phải ưu phiền vì nếp sống dâm đãng của những người phạm pháp.

8Quả vậy, người công chính đó sống ở giữa họ, mắt thấy tai nghe những hành vi phi pháp ngày ngày xâu xé tâm hồn công chính của ông.

9Như thế Chúa biết cứu những người đạo đức khỏi cơn thử thách, và giữ những kẻ bất chính để trừng phạt vào ngày phán xét,

10Họ táo bạo, kiêu căng, không sợ nói phạm đến các bậc uy linh,

11trong khi các thiên thần, tuy mạnh mẽ và quyền thế hơn, cũng không đưa ra một phán quyết nào phạm đến các vị đó trước toà Chúa.

12Còn họ, khác nào loài vật vô tri vốn sinh ra để bị săn bắt và tiêu diệt, lại nói phạm đến những điều họ không biết ; những loài vật kia bị tiêu diệt làm sao, thì họ cũng sẽ bị tiêu diệt như vậy :

13họ đã ăn ở bất chính thì được trả công bằng sự bất chính. Họ coi việc sống phóng đãng giữa ban ngày như một khoái lạc, họ là những người đầy khuyết điểm và tỳ ố, thích thú vì những chuyện lừa gạt của mình, trong lúc vui vẻ với anh em.

14Nhìn thấy phụ nữ là họ ao ước ngoại tình, họ phạm tội mãi không chán ; họ nhử mồi các tâm hồn nông nổi ; lòng họ đã quen thói tham lam. Thật là những kẻ đáng bị nguyền rủa !

15Bỏ đường ngay nẻo chính, họ đã lạc bước theo đường của con ông Bo-xo là Bi-lơ-am, kẻ ưa thích tiền công bất chính.

16Nhưng Bi-lơ-am đã bị khiển trách vì hành động sai trái của mình : một thú vật chở đồ, không biết nói, đã lên tiếng như người, để ngăn cản cách xử sự điên rồ của ngôn sứ ấy.

17Họ là suối không có nước, là mây bị bão cuốn đi ; u ám tối tăm là nơi dành cho họ.

18Miệng nói những lời huênh hoang rỗng tuếch, họ dùng những ham muốn xác thịt dâm ô mà nhử những người vừa thoát tay các kẻ sống trong lầm lạc.

19Họ hứa cho những kẻ đó được tự do, nhưng chính họ lại làm nô lệ cho lối sống dẫn đến hư vong, vì đã thua ai thì phải làm nô lệ người ấy.

20Thật vậy, những kẻ đã thoát khỏi những vết nhơ của thế gian, nhờ được biết Chúa Giê-su Ki-tô, Đấng Cứu Độ, mà lại vướng mắc vào đó một lần nữa và bị thua, thì tình trạng sau này của họ còn tệ hơn trước.

21Quả thật, thà họ không biết đường công chính, còn hơn là khi đã biết rồi, lại lìa bỏ điều răn thánh đã được truyền cho họ.

22Điều xảy ra cho họ thật đúng với câu ngạn ngữ sau đây : *Chó mửa ra, chó liền ăn lại ; heo tắm xong, heo nhảy vào bùn.*

1But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

4For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

5And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

6And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

7And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

10But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

11Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

12But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

13And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

14Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

15Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

16But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

17These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

18For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

19While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
