Exodus

1Take unto thee also Aaron thy brother with his sons, from among the children of Israel, that they may minister to me in the priest’s office: Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

2And thou shalt make a holy vesture for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

3And thou shalt speak to all the wise of heart, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s vestments, in which he being consecrated may minister to me.

4And these shall be the vestments that they shall make: A rational and an ephod, a tunick and a strait linen garment, a mitre and a girdle. They shall make the holy vestments for thy brother Aaron and his sons, that they may do the office of priesthood unto me.

5And they shall take gold, and violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine linen.

6And they shall make the ephod of gold, and violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen, embroidered with divers colours.

7It shall have the two edges joined in the top on both sides, that they may be closed together.

8The very workmanship also and all the variety of the work shall be of gold, and violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen.

9And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and shalt grave on them the names of the children of Israel:

10Six names on one stone, and the other six on the other, according to the order of their birth.

11With the work of an engraver and the graving of a jeweller, thou shalt engrave them with the names of the children of Israel, set in gold and compassed about:

12And thou shalt put them in both sides of the ephod, a memorial for the children of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord upon both shoulders, for a remembrance.

13Thou shalt make also hooks of gold.

14And two little chains of the purest gold linked one to another, which thou shalt put into the hooks.

15And thou shalt make the rational of judgment with embroidered work of divers colours, according to the workmanship of the ephod, of gold, violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen.

16It shall be foursquare and doubled: it shall be the measure of a span both in length and in breadth.

17And thou shalt set in it four rows of stones: in the first row shall be a sardius stone, and a topaz, and an emerald:

18In the second a carbuncle, a sapphire and a jasper.

19In the third a ligurius, an agate, and an amethyst:

20In the fourth a chrysolite, an onyx, and a beryl. They shall be set in gold by their rows.

21And they shall have the names of the children of Israel: with twelve names shall they be engraved, each stone with the name of one according to the twelve tribes.

22And thou shalt make on the rational chains linked one to another of the purest gold:

23And two rings of gold, which thou shalt put in the two ends at the top of the rational.

24And the golden chains thou shalt join to the rings, that are in the ends thereof:

25And the ends of the chains themselves thou shalt join together with two hooks on both sides of the ephod, which is towards the rational.

26Thou shalt make also two rings of gold which thou shalt put in the top parts of the rational, in the borders that are over against the ephod, and look towards the back parts thereof.

27Moreover also other two rings of gold, which are to be set on each side of the ephod beneath, that looketh towards the nether joining, that the rational may be fitted with the ephod,

28And may be fastened by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a violet fillet, that the joining artificially wrought may continue, and the rational and the ephod may not be loosed one from the other.

29And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the rational of judgement upon his breast, when he shall enter into the sanctuary, a memorial before the Lord for ever.

30And thou shalt put in the rational of judgment doctrine and truth, which shall be on Aaron’s breast, when he shall go in before the Lord: and he shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel on his breast, in the sight of the Lord always.

31And thou shalt make the tunick of the ephod all of violet,

32In the midst whereof above shall be a hole for the head, and a border round about it woven, as is wont to be made in the outmost parts of garments, that it may not easily be broken.

33And beneath at the feet of the same tunick round about, thou shalt make as it were pomegranates, of violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, with little bells set between:

34So that there shall be a golden bell and a pomegranate, and again another golden bell and a pomegranate.

35And Aaron shall be vested with it in the office of his ministry, that the sound may be heard, when he goeth in and cometh out of the sanctuary, in the sight of the Lord, and that he may not die.

36Thou shalt make also a plate of the purest gold: wherein thou shalt grave with engraver’s work, Holy to the Lord.

37And thou shalt tie it with a violet fillet, and it shall be upon the mitre,

38Hanging over the forehead of the high priest. And Aaron shall bear the iniquities of those things, which the children of Israel have offered and sanctified, in all their gifts and offerings. And the plate shall be always on his forehead, that the Lord may be well pleased with them.

39And thou shalt gird the tunick with fine linen, and thou shalt make a fine linen mitre, and a girdle of embroidered work.

40Moreover for the sons of Aaron thou shalt prepare linen tunicks, and girdles and mitres for glory and beauty:

41And with all these things thou shalt vest Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him. And thou shalt consecrate the hands of them all, and shalt sanctify them, that they may do the office of priesthood unto me.

42Thou shalt make also linen breeches, to cover the flesh of their nakedness from the reins to the thighs:

43And Aaron and his sons shall use them when they shall go in to the tabernacle of the testimony, or when they approach the altar to minister in the sanctuary, lest being guilty of iniquity they die. It shall be a law for ever to Aaron, and to his seed after him.

1“Phần ngươi, hãy tách A-ha-ron, anh ngươi, và các con ông ra khỏi hàng ngũ con cái Ít-ra-en, để ông ở bên cạnh ngươi mà thi hành chức tư tế phục vụ Ta : A-ha-ron và các con của A-ha-ron là Na-đáp, A-vi-hu, E-la-da và I-tha-ma.

2Ngươi sẽ may cho A-ha-ron, anh ngươi, những lễ phục để ông được vẻ uy nghi rực rỡ.

3Chính ngươi sẽ bảo tất cả những thợ giỏi, đã được Ta ban tràn đầy tài năng khôn khéo, may áo tế cho A-ha-ron, để ông được thánh hiến mà thi hành chức tư tế phục vụ Ta.

4Đây là các phẩm phục họ sẽ may : túi đeo trước ngực, áo ê-phốt, áo khoác, áo dài thêu, mũ tế và đai lưng. Họ sẽ may lễ phục cho A-ha-ron, anh ngươi, và cho con cái ông, để ông thi hành chức tư tế phục vụ Ta.

5Còn họ, họ sẽ lấy vàng, vải tía, vải điều, vải đỏ thẫm và vải gai mịn, mà làm.

6“Họ sẽ làm áo ê-phốt bằng chỉ vàng, chỉ đỏ tía, chỉ điều, chỉ đỏ thẫm và sợi gai mịn xe.

7Sẽ có hai cầu vai nối liền với hai đầu áo ê-phốt, và như vậy hai thân áo sẽ nối liền với nhau.

8Băng chéo đeo trên áo ê-phốt để giữ áo thì sẽ làm cùng một kiểu và đính liền vào đó ; băng chéo ấy sẽ bằng chỉ vàng, chỉ đỏ tía, chỉ điều, chỉ đỏ thẫm, và sợi gai mịn xe.

9Ngươi sẽ lấy hai viên mã não và sẽ khắc trên đó tên con cái Ít-ra-en :

10trên viên thứ nhất có ghi sáu tên, và trên viên thứ hai, sáu tên còn lại, theo thứ tự trước sau.

11Ngươi sẽ khắc tên con cái Ít-ra-en vào hai viên ngọc đó theo kiểu thợ chạm khắc dấu ấn ; ngươi sẽ nhận những viên ngọc đó vào những ổ bằng vàng.

12Ngươi sẽ đặt hai viên ngọc đó trên cầu vai của áo ê-phốt để làm kỷ vật tưởng nhớ con cái Ít-ra-en ; A-ha-ron sẽ mang tên của chúng trên hai vai, trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, để làm kỷ vật.

13Ngươi sẽ làm những ổ bằng vàng

14và hai dây chuyền bằng vàng ròng ; ngươi sẽ làm hai dây chuyền đó theo kiểu khoen lật để làm như dải buộc ; ngươi sẽ đặt hai dây chuyền khoen lật đó vào ổ hột.

15“Ngươi sẽ làm một túi đeo trước ngực rất mỹ thuật đựng thẻ xăm cho biết phán quyết của Thiên Chúa. Ngươi sẽ làm túi đó theo kiểu áo ê-phốt : bằng chỉ vàng, chỉ đỏ tía, chỉ điều, chỉ đỏ thẫm và sợi gai mịn xe.

16Túi đó hình vuông, may kép, dài một gang, rộng một gang.

17Ngươi sẽ nhận vào đó bốn hàng ngọc : ở hàng thứ nhất có nhận xích não, hoàng ngọc và bích ngọc ;

18ở hàng thứ hai có nhận hồng ngọc, lam ngọc và kim cương ;

19ở hàng thứ ba có nhận miêu nhãn thạch, mã não và tử ngọc ;

20ở hàng thứ tư có nhận kim lục thạch, mã não có vân và vân thạch. Những viên ngọc đó sẽ được nhận vào những ổ bằng vàng.

21Các viên ngọc sẽ mang tên con cái Ít-ra-en : mười hai viên ngọc mang mười hai tên của chúng khắc theo kiểu dấu ấn, mỗi viên ngọc mang tên của một trong mười hai chi tộc.

22Ngươi sẽ làm cho túi đeo trước ngực những dây chuyền khoen lật bằng vàng ròng để làm dải buộc.

23Ngươi sẽ làm cho túi đó hai vòng bằng vàng, và ngươi sẽ đính hai vòng đó vào hai góc túi.

24Ngươi sẽ xâu hai dây chuyền khoen lật bằng vàng đó vào hai vòng đặt ở góc túi.

25Ngươi sẽ đặt hai đầu dây chuyền khoen lật vào hai ổ, rồi đặt lên cầu vai của áo ê-phốt, mặt phải.

26Ngươi sẽ làm hai vòng bằng vàng, rồi gắn vào hai đầu túi ở mép trong, mặt trái áp áo ê-phốt.

27Ngươi sẽ làm hai vòng bằng vàng, rồi đính vào hai cầu vai của áo ê-phốt bên dưới, mặt phải, gần chỗ buộc, bên trên băng chéo của áo ê-phốt.

28Người ta sẽ lấy một dải vải đỏ tía mà buộc các vòng của túi đeo trước ngực vào các vòng của áo ê-phốt, để túi đó nằm trên băng chéo của áo ê-phốt : như thế, túi sẽ không xê dịch được trên áo ê-phốt.

29Khi vào nơi thánh, A-ha-ron sẽ mang trên ngực tên con cái Ít-ra-en, làm kỷ vật vĩnh viễn trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, được ghi vào túi đeo trước ngực, chỗ đựng thẻ xăm phán quyết.

30Ngươi sẽ đặt các thẻ xăm phán quyết U-rim và Tum-mim vào túi đeo trước ngực ; những vật này sẽ nằm trên ngực A-ha-ron, khi ông đến trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA. Như thế, trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, A-ha-ron sẽ luôn mang trên ngực phương tiện cho biết phán quyết của Thiên Chúa về con cái Ít-ra-en.

31“Ngươi sẽ làm áo khoác toàn bằng sợi đỏ tía, để mặc dưới áo ê-phốt.

32Ở giữa, sẽ khoét cổ để chui đầu vào ; chung quanh cổ áo, sẽ có một đường viền : đó là công trình của thợ dệt ; cổ đó sẽ giống như cổ áo giáp, không sao rách được.

33Ngươi sẽ làm ở vòng quanh gấu dưới những quả lựu bằng chỉ đỏ tía, chỉ điều, chỉ đỏ thẫm ; những lục lạc bằng vàng xen kẽ với những quả lựu, và ngươi sẽ làm như thế cho hết vòng :

34một lục lạc bằng vàng rồi một quả lựu, một lục lạc bằng vàng rồi một quả lựu, vòng quanh gấu dưới áo khoác.

35A-ha-ron sẽ mặc áo đó khi hành lễ. Người ta sẽ nghe tiếng lục lạc, khi ông đến nơi thánh, trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, và khi ông bước ra : như vậy, ông sẽ khỏi phải chết.

36“Ngươi sẽ làm một huy hiệu bằng vàng ròng. Ngươi sẽ khắc trên đó những chữ sau đây, theo kiểu khắc dấu ấn : ‘Thánh hiến cho ĐỨC CHÚA’.

37Ngươi sẽ đính huy hiệu đó trên một dây bằng chỉ đỏ tía buộc vào mũ tế ; huy hiệu đó sẽ ở mặt trước mũ tế.

38Huy hiệu đó sẽ ở trên trán A-ha-ron. Như vậy, A-ha-ron sẽ mang lấy những lỗi lầm con cái Ít-ra-en đã phạm liên quan đến những của thánh, khi chúng thánh hiến những lễ vật thánh. Huy hiệu đó sẽ luôn luôn ở trên trán ông, để ĐỨC CHÚA đoái nhận những của lễ ấy.

39Ngươi sẽ dệt một áo dài bằng sợi gai mịn, và làm một mũ tế cũng bằng sợi gai mịn. Ngươi sẽ làm một đai lưng : đó là công trình của thợ thêu.

40“Ngươi sẽ may áo dài cho các con ông A-ha-ron và làm đai lưng cho họ. Ngươi cũng sẽ làm cho họ những chiếc mũ để họ được vẻ uy nghi rực rỡ.

41Ngươi sẽ cho A-ha-ron anh ngươi, và các con ông mặc các phẩm phục ấy. Ngươi sẽ xức dầu cho họ, tấn phong và thánh hiến họ làm tư tế phục vụ Ta.

42Ngươi cũng sẽ may quần đùi bằng vải gai cho họ, để họ khỏi bị hở hang ; quần đó sẽ che thân từ ngang lưng đến vế.

43A-ha-ron và các con ông sẽ mặc quần ấy lúc vào Lều Hội Ngộ, hoặc khi tiến đến gần bàn thờ để hành lễ trong nơi thánh ; như thế, họ sẽ không mang tội và khỏi phải chết. Đó là một điều luật vĩnh viễn cho A-ha-ron và dòng dõi đến sau ông.
